Hello everyone, I’ve now received the i5 eDrive40 with the M Sport Pro package. This includes, among other things, the M suspension. I have to admit that the suspension is unfortunately too stiff for my liking. You really feel almost every groove in the road, and it’s not particularly comfortable. Have you had the same experience with it? I’m quite frustrated about this at the moment, so I would have preferred the standard suspension instead. I have 20-inch wheels… is there a way to get a smoother ride? I’d be happy to hear constructive suggestions.

Asking for 40,121. M Sport package. Too many miles?

Hi all! We have a 2025 i5 model 60, and it is sitting at home on the home charger. Unfortunately, the charging port handle will not release. I have tried everything for the last 4 hours:

• Lock and unlock with remote key start: multiple scenarios, sequences, etc.
• Unlock with the charging port mobile app
• Started the car, moved a few inches, shut down, etc etc
• Unlock with the emergency button next to charging port
• Said a prayer to the BMW gods (they referred me to BMW Assistance, where they were equally worthless)

I called the local BMW service center and the 1800 center - they were not able to help other than saying there was an emergency release handle under the wheel well, which would require taking off the tire. But they were unsure

Has anyone else come across this? Any tricks? Any past successes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know posting here is super biased but holy crap does this car make me happy!

I’ve owned a lot of EV’s over the past few years… Almost every flavor of Tesla, Leaf, Ioniq and Ioniq 5, EV9, iX, Prologue, and an i4.

Let me tell you though, nothing compares to my i5 eDrive 40. I have nothing fancy with it… no DAPP, no rear steering or active suspension, and no Bowers audio system.

But holy crap does this thing put a smile on my face. I have never felt such a smooth and well tuned car. The throttle mapping, the steering weight and feel, the road noise insulation, the aesthetics and looks… I adore every aspect of the i5.

I just had to shout from the rooftops. I feel very honored and blessed to own such an incredible car.

Does anyone else have plans to keep theirs for a while? I’m thinking about doing a 10 year ownership run just to see how it all goes.

I’m pretty new to this and want to buy my first electric car. I like the i5 and have been looking at it for some time now. Although I’ve seen that there is a facelift coming in 2027. Should I wait with buying one?

Using the drive recorder as a dash cam

Hi all, following the recent post i saw here and the recent update (recent-ish, i read they write it was there already for at least a year but i just realised) i have been using my drive recorder as a dash cam for the past few months. Here is my experience for those who do not know and a few questions for those who do (all you have to do is plug a usbc sd card to the front port, open apps, open the drive recorder app, press the button on the right -the left one records on to the car- and select the usb option. You can aldo record to your phone but i found that a bit hard to connect):

1. I had to go into the settings and select ‘all’ for camera recording or else it just records the front and rear as standard.

2. I found that the raw video setting was better (also enabled in settings) as it gives you the birdseye view.

3. I used regular USB disks but they all gave errors recording after a short time of recording. Following my chat with AI i used a ‘high endurance’ micro SD which is the one to go for continous read/writes under extreme temperatures and a sd to usbc card reader with a gl3224 processor chip and it is still working after 40 hours of recording.

4. The micro sd came in fat32 so i formatted it as exfat for greater flexibility.

5. Just over an hour of recording takes approx 3gb of space per camera so 10-12gb for all four cams per hour.

6. If you have an activation point to open the camera, the car automatically starts a new recording after departing the activation point.

7. I have put the drive recorder as a shortcut and just adopted a habit of activating it everytime i press the start button.

I have already made use of it once as the car didnt detect an accident for a minor event so im very happy with the update. I have a few questions for those who are experienced:

1. I tried manually trigerring the drive recorder, it saved the previous video on the usb and saved the triggered video on the car. Can we assume it’ll do the same during a detected crash?

2. My SD is 512gb so i havent seen full capacitiy yet so does overwriting work properly or would i need to empty it as it reaches capacity?

I wanted it to have the Dynamic Handling package but it does not, not really sure if this is a deal breaker or what. I am coming from a Tesla Model S. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I’ll be taking delivery of my i5 eDrive40 soon. I’m really looking forward to the car, but after doing a lot of research, I realized that a couple of other options might have been the better choice.
I ordered pretty much every package except the Adaptive Suspension Professional. That’s the one option I honestly didn’t pay much attention to at the time. My car has the M Sport suspension instead.
Is the lack of rear-wheel steering and the firmer M Sport suspension really a dealbreaker? Does anyone here have the M Sport suspension on their i5?
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback. I’ve never driven a car like this before, so I don’t have any point of reference.

Hey guys been looking at getting into a used i4 but I was just offered a 2024 i5 m60 with 7k miles for 55k.

Comes with:

Dapp

Executive package

20inch wheels

Msport professional package

Ventilated seats

Panoramic roof

Carbon fiber trim

Seems like everything but the Bowers sound system, original msrp tag was 95k. Any important packages missing?

Is this a great deal or just good deal or should I hold out till next year when more 24's start coming off leases?

The side mirrors on my BMW i5 squeak when they fold in and out. Anyone faced the same issue?

As the title states, my lease is expiring at the end of the year. Is it worth paying off (roughly 36K) or just get a new lease with the 2027 model?
