Hey all! Looking to make the plunge to an EV and really like the i5. I test drove a 2027 xDrive40 and will be test driving a 2024 CPO M60 tomorrow to decide whether I want the additional horsepower. I'm mainly looking for a fun daily driver for myself that can also drive the wife and kids around. I drove an Audi S6 and liked it as well, but the limited rearview windshield is a dealbreaker for me.

The 2024 CPO M60 is $64,000 with the following options:

I was hoping to get the collective pulse on price (which right about the mid-point for these types of cars) and any ownership experience. I could also lease a newer M60, but I don't think I'll be getting any significant upgrades. Thanks!

I have a golf trolley that stays in my boot pretty much all the time. But in my i5 Touring, the thing slides around like crazy when driving. It's not the wheels moving, the wheels are locked, it's literally just sliding.

I am trying to figure out if I'm better off buying the rubber boot mat, or the cargo net. Does anyone have either?

I'd prefer the rubber mat if possible, since it'll help keep it clean and is less hassle when getting items in/out, but I'm not sure how grippy the rubber is? Also how easy is it to access the under-boot storage when the mat is in?

And I'm unsure if the cargo net is good enough for something with a bit of weight? Does the cargo net just keep items in the centre of the boot?

Going to order an i5 touring (station) in a few weeks. Here in my country the base model i5 and the Mpack are the same price. But why is noone taking the base one? I really like the chrome roofrails, chrome around the windows and the chrome insert in the rear bumper. Why?

Today I got the following message in the driver display:

Emergency call system failure

This happened after I parked the car and went into a shop for around 15 mins. Was perfectly normal before that but as soon as I got back into the car the eSIM wouldn’t connect and the error message came.

I’ve tried the system reboots by holding down the volume button etc. tried to reset BMW ID but now cannot get a QR code and get an error saying network isn’t available. In built nav can’t detect where the car is either.

Left it for 45 mins to try and reboot and came back to the car with the same fault.

Any ideas or has this happened to anyone. I’ve had the car for less than 10 days lol.

Has anyone else experienced this with BMW CarPlay?

About a week ago, the audio quality through CarPlay suddenly became terrible. Music sounds much quieter, and phone calls are even worse. I have to turn the volume all the way up just to hear the person I’m talking to.

The strange part is that if I use the Spotify app directly through BMW’s interface instead of Apple CarPlay, the audio quality is excellent and the volume levels are completely normal.

Nothing changed with my setup, and everything was working perfectly until about a week ago.

So far, I’ve tried:
Disconnecting and reconnecting my iPhone
Restarting my iPhone

Has anyone run into this before? Is there anything else I should try?

In a ‘25 i5 now, had a look at the iX3 while getting something at dealer, hoping that customer feedback across the auto industry, wanting more real buttons and switches, might have penetrated.

Nope, it’s even less, with even more through the screen. Very sleek looking interior, feels more like a Tesla now. Fuck.

Recently drove a model S and it was awesome, but I really hate not having normal buttons and dials.

Is this likely what is also in store for the i5 at the time of facelift?

I’m really looking forward to the much improved range on the new battery, and the 800 V architecture.

What are the chances of getting this with the facelift in a few years, without much removal of buttons/switches from the interior, before the eventual full Neue Klasse?

The perfect car would be the upcoming gen 6 battery, 800 V charging architecture, G30 exterior appearance, and some hybrid of the interior functionality between the G30 and current Honda CRV hybrid.

Anyway, just wanted to rant.

So I’ve had my i5 for about a year now and the list of complaints grow and don’t seem to shrink.

I think the best part of the car so far is the fact that I get free charging via Electrify America so that has quelled a lot of my issues

However, I’m wondering if any of you are experiencing the same issues I have?

- my USB-C charger is in the front don’t work because there’s liquid probably spilled on them. Why would they think to put the USB-C chargers IN the cupholder?

- DAPP requires way too much babysitting.
I’m a previous owner of a Tesla model S, Audi, E Tron, and a Mercedes EQ. The Bmw seems to have the dumbest auto driver Assistance out of the four.

- why is there not a simple button for distance control like every other car has? Why do I need to go? Three levels deep in the menu to find out or change how close I am to the car in front of me?

-no tactile buttons with a dumb in entertainment system. Why if I wanna increase the temperature I have to leave completely out of my navigation system. And miss my exit. I don’t want to use the voice commands. No one does, because It wants to do is “pardon” you to death.

- speaking of infotainment system the way the Bluetooth fights over CarPlay and and the native apps is infuriating. Spotify playing Bluetooth CarPlay or the car itself? Who knows? all I do know is none of the buttons are working for it.

- back to buttons, one of the only ones on the car is for the clunky sunroof. Every other EV has an easy slide touch.
The one button that the Bmw has is, this giant clunker of a knob that your fingernail get stuck in.

- and while we’re up there, why are the touch buttons of the overhead lighting such trash, there is no tactile knob to let you know where they are. They’re barely lit and you have to feel around multiple times until we finally get to turn on the light.

I would like to more but I r but I don’t wanna take pages and pages of reddits. precious feed.

TLDR the quality control on this car is not the best. But then again that might be said about most of technology nowadays.
