I love my Beosound A5s but the connection issues are a nightmare. Is it the same with Sonos?

I just LOVE my Beosound A5s. I have a pair in the living room and the music is delightful. However, I really can’t get over how with both AirPlay and Spotify connect connection is often unstable.

What happens: with Spotify connect, connection is lost mid song or when I click on it, it does not start, even tho it hows playing on Spotify. I sometimes switch between songs and restart it multiple times for it to be working. More recently, when I press the button for the radio - one of my absolute favorite features as I listen to it a lot -, often the radio does not start. It only works if I put it form the app, and even then sometimes the connection seems not to work as it used to. Finally, I tried using airplay, as it appeared to be more reliable, but I have similar issues often occurring.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but it’s so frustrating because it does not make it reliable.

I understand it’s a network issue, but I have done everything in my power. I am not sure what to do anymore. I also read that connectivity is one of the challenges of B&O, and that other users also experienced it.

It’s the only B&O products I have. What’s frustrating is that I have zero issues with playing music via my Alexa products. That’s convenient because I just play it with Spotify connect and I have multiple around the house but clearly I would love to have my actual sound system working. This makes me heavily doubt getting more b&o products in the future.

Did anyone have similar issues and permanently solved them? If you had similar issues and tried other sound systems like Sonos, did you have a similar issue?

Hopefully I will get some more perspective!

Beomaster 1500

Hi all. I recently found a beomaster 1500 at a garage clear out and am wondering how good of a machine it is. It came with 1 speaker which I will buy a second of but I’m curious about the quality of the setup. Any opinions appreciated

CD Burning Question

I have a Beocenter 9500 which I recently got fixed up and I've been burning some music to CD's, I've noticed that usually on a burned disc there will be 2 or 3 tracks that just won't play. I use CDBurnerXP with a 10x burn speed (lowest it will go on that app) and I've been using PlexDisc 52X CD-R's using primarily FLAC files. Was curious if anyone has ran into this issue and what they'd recommend (different CD-R's, different burning software with lower speed, etc). Normal CD's don't have this issue, just stuff that I've burned.

Any desire or market demand for a good working Beosound 2300 with the Beolab 2500 speakers (blue).

I have a BeoCenter 2300 system that has been sitting on my shelf for many years and just does not get used much. I have a large audio room I use daily. Background: I bought it new. I have the matching Beolab 2500 speakers (in blue still sound great) and working B&O remote. Display is fine, CD player reads and plays discs. The FM antenna is missing but I just use a TEAC powered one anyway. I also have a B&O AUX output connector for it. I do not have the original box anymore though. PM me if interested. I am in the WASH DC metro area.

Found my old B&O headphones while cleaning shocked they still sound this good

Was cleaning out some old stuff and found these forgotten Bang & Olufsen headphones play h4 gen 2. Haven’t touched them in years. Charged them up, and surprisingly they still work like day one. Sound is crisp, battery is still pushing 30+ hours, and the build quality feels way ahead of its time.

Makes me realize how overbuilt some older B&O gear was. Honestly thinking whether I should keep them for nostalgia or let them go to someone who’ll actually use them.

Anyone here still rocking older B&O models?

Beolab 6000 speakers

Hi guys

I just bought a pair of used Beolab 6000 for a good price (below USD 100.-). They seem to sound good, but honestly I have no idea if I should replace the foams or not. Visually they seem intact and in a good shape (see pictures). What do you think? Many thanks in advance.

Beolab Pentas in for restoration

Just got these gigantic powered towers in for a restoration after the right speaker stopped working, turns out it’s just a bad relay and some bad filter caps, doing a full refurbishment on both to get them sounding like new again, but the tower that did still work sounds excellent. Currently awaiting parts and will post updates this week hopefully.

What part is this from?

Found it on the ground and couldn’t find any pictures that would match. It’s an empty, oval-shaped tube.

Horrific Customer Support - No Refund in Nearly 2 Months!

I’ve honestly never experienced customer service this disappointing from a premium brand like Bang & Olufsen.

I returned my order over a month ago, and after there was no movement on the parcel, they opened an investigation with their logistics partner and I was explicitly told in writing that if the parcel couldn’t be located within 21 business days, it would be considered lost and I would receive a full refund.

The entire timeframe passed, so I contacted them expecting the refund they’d promised. Instead, they’ve now told me they need even more time because they’re still waiting for their logistics partner.

It’s been nearly 2 months since I returned my order and I’m without my product or money. This whole experience has been genuinely stressful.

Being told one thing and then something completely different has been so frustrating. Each email agent just uses AI to draft up a vague generic answer. I’ve honestly never experienced something like this!

Beogram 4000 service - done! (for now)

The service of my Beogram 4000 is done and the deck performs and sounds absolutely fantastic with the MMC20CL. Unlike the nut and bolt restoration of my Beogram 4002, the aim for the 4000 was to preserve its originality while making it mechanically and electrically reliable again. The service included only what was necessary:
- Replaced the tired out-of-spec power capacitors
- Replaced the 680 Ohm resistor with a Vishay 680 Ohm 5W wirewound type
- New fuses, factory spec Schurter slow-blow
- Brand new carriage motor made to factory spec but at reduced current (but I’d like to figure out a way to restore the original sealed Faulhaber carriage motor)
- Replaced the cracked plastic carriage pulley with a new aluminium version
- Repaired a cracked solder joint
- Serviced the tonearm damper cylinder, new gasket and lubrication

In the future I will service the platter motor but, for now, speed tests with the Beogram RPM optical tool show no issues with speed accuracy.

Beosound 9000 Mk3 No Power

Hi everyone. I was fortunate to land a 9000 mk3 but it has no power at all when plugged in. No lights or mechanical sounds. I’ve tried different outlets/cables and no luck. I want to open it up to check the fuse and power board but I cannot get the glass panel open. It opens an inch or two before I am stuck and can’t get it to open further. I read on the service manual to open with force, but when I’ve tried, I’ve had no luck and it feels like if I put anymore force, either the glass or the connection point will break. Am I missing something here?

Cat6 on beosound/beolab LAN?

Hi guys,

I am building a new Home, and for now my wall connections for Ethernet is cat6. Is this alright for b&o products? It is not for powerlink, only for internet connection instead of wifi. I Think i read a rant where they were making noises because the cables where u-utp, but I cant understand why that would be an issue if it is only for internet connection.

Balance Mic

Hello, group

I've just bought a Beosound Balance, which is an incredible thing. Very happy with it. I do wonder though, now that it doesn't have, or doesn't appear to have, voice assistant, is there any purpose at all for the microphone on it?

I've only had the thing a day, but wanted to see if I was missing some functionality, or if it is just a legacy item from an earlier time.

TIA

Nick

Question about Beolit 20 and Beosound A5 processing of stereo signals

I realize that both of these speakers are effectively mono but does this mean that a stereo source is folded to mono for output that is true mono or are both channels present, but the speakers are just so close together that it sounds mono?

I’ve seen a couple of YouTube videos where it is mentioned that there is a tweak in the sound settings of the B&O app where you can make the dot bigger for more of a stereo effect. Does this work and sound decent?

I ask because I am considering a purchase, but I’m not convinced I want to spend B&O money for mono and adding a second speaker isn’t something I’m going to pursue right now if I go through with this at all.

BeoSound Ouverture with WiiM Ultra + Edifier MR5 setup

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about buying a BeoSound Ouverture and wanted to check if it’ll work with my current setup before I go ahead.

I’m using a WiiM Ultra as my main audio hub, and it’s connected to my Edifier MR5 speakers. My plan is to connect the Ouverture to the WiiM Ultra line-in so I can play CDs and cassettes through my speakers. At the same time, I’m using the WiiM Ultra as my switcher, with my TV connected via HDMI ARC, so I can easily swap between TV audio and the Ouverture depending on what I want to listen to.

Has anyone tried something similar? I’m mainly unsure if the Ouverture is compatible with my wiim, or if a specific type of DIN-to-RCA cable or adapter is all I need.

Any advice or things to watch out for before I buy one would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Last uppdate messed up the App

Since the last update my app cant connect to my head phones, they do play sound but not through the app.

I uninstalled the app and reset the headåhones, and did every thing else I qas told, but the still wont connect.

And I cant find ANY headphones in the manual product connection menu, No "H-family" or other headphones, just blue tooth speakers, TVs etc etc.

I called both my AD and the customer service and they had not heard about the issue but comfirmed it after checking the new update.

I have had this problem for a week now, are they always this slow with updates?
