Question for the group. I'm trying to mimic the functionality we have on our Motorola mobile radios where I set the active channel for transmission manually in Bank A, but no matter what I do Bank B continues to scan.
Basically I need to monitor 6 channels, but I am only going to respond on 1-2 of them generally. I just want the radio to scan all the time on the other bank and not stop scanning no matter what I do to transmit in the other bank.

So just got a pair of UV 5G Mini's
On channel mode set on channel 23 display says 462.550. In frequency mode it says 435.612. what is going on??
Thanks everyone.
Jay
Are there plans for a DM32-UV Mini? Or is there a comparable radio out there? I love all of the features the DM32-UV has, but I'd love it even more in a smaller package.
I have a Retevis RT22 and a H777 that I'm trying to connect to my UV-9R. The RT will chirp receiving but can't hear anything. The H777 did chirp receiving but lost connection.
PS The Retevis are business radios and are set to business band VHF. Company is too cheap to get us more radios for my crew, so I'm filling the gaps with Baofengs.
Fails the captcha every single time I try contacting support. I tried this multiple times across a few weeks, same crap.
I know this is un official, and im unlikely to get support or help. im just sharing how infuriating this is (i bricked my radio sort of)
Fully programed with analog and digital and I have to say I’m impressed. I’ve hit repeaters 40 miles out crystal clear. Not sure why there are so many negative comments about the cps, it’s not the best but there are far worse out there, definitely a learning curve If all you have used is CHIRP but not bad.
For under $100 each including upgraded antennas you cannot beat these.
Overall happy and would recommend.
Edit: Take note of the few quirks with the CPS software, while I don’t find it difficult to use and program on, there are several bugs, particularly when editing an existing channel list. If you rearrange, change the order or add new channels into that list, it will shift the order of your zones and scan lists. You can get around this by simply adding the channel to the bottom of the channel list and then adding it to whatever zone you want. But if that bothers you and you want it more organized , just know that you will need to go back and fix your scan lists and zones.
As far as the contact list issues in digital, I cannot speak to that, I don’t have the need to import thousands of contacts, I only have a 100 or so that I utilize.
Users below have commented on several more advanced ways utilizing custom software to address the issues with the cps, if that interests you see below.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Communication will be required between two teams positioned in different camps or to communicate with the base camp.
Is this the optimal frequency for the antenna and therefore provides the best range?
What will be antenna suggestions? Will Diamond rh 701 be good enough in UV 9R PLUS?
I would appreciate any insight and suggestions. Thanks.
I’ve just bought the Quansheng UV K-5(8) and want to get into playing around with the extra features from updated firmware and some of the modifications I’ve seen online. First of all I’m trying to get some of the frequencies I’ve got saved into a Uniden UBC125XLTC onto the Quansheng. I guess it’s relatively straightforward but being new to the type I’m struggling to get my head around even the basics!
I have managed to get the Quansheng connected to my PC using Chirp and done a backup of the data showing me the format of the few frequencies it’s got stored in a file labelled “UK Business Radio Simple Light Frequencies.csv”. I’ve also managed to sync the Uniden using RRUK UBC125XLT Programmer 1.0.5. Most of the frequencies I’ve backed up are ones I’ve entered manually over the past year or so and some are ones I’ve loaded from RRUK.
I’ve coped these into a new Excel file and saved it as a .csv, now I’m no expert with Excel… in fact through my whole working life it literally gave me the screaming shivers!
What I was expecting to do was select the data column by column and paste it into the Chirp file in the same order as came off the Quansheng. Try as I might, I can’t get the copies to paste! Additionally there are columns of data that the Uniden doesn’t have (like Power, Tuning Step and many more that are simply not populated in the Quansheng file, but as they aren’t in that I guess they just aren’t necessary?
My other major issue is actually going to be working the thing… I have tried reading the manual (which appears to have been written by someone who might have seen their only English speaker from a distance passing on a train!), needless to say it resembles English but not a form I’m familiar with! Has anyone actually gone to the trouble of writing a manual that is more easily understood? Possibly taking account of the various updates and or the hacks that have proliferated?
im looking for a radio that can work across town without issues and isnt all that expensive.
do you have any good ones? please let me know
Hello!
I was wondering. I live about 7.5 miles away from my my father in law and wanted to see if it would be possible to buy another radio and gift it to my father in law. The purpose would be so he could use the radio to speak to my speak with my daughter through the walkie talkie function. The 7.5 miles is a flat distance with no mountain ranges and is all suburbs
Would this be possible if I bought an upgraded antenna like the Abbree SMA I'm using on my Baofeng ?
!
Thanks in advance
I wanted to reach different frequencies like 132 mhz or 280 mhz, both i can listen to stuff, but what is the components limit to capturing the transmissions on that frequency, like if i could i could put 30 mhz on the chirp software, but it will not work, right? What is the real limit on the UHF and VHF blocks?
Does anybody know where you can buy Baofeng AR-5RM in the Philippines? Excluding E-Bay and Amazon. Thanks for the response!
With the UV-5R Mini but I'm guessing it's all of them the FM radio can only be enabled when it's not receiving so if i turn squelch off the radio button becomes useless. Any idea if it's possible to still use it or make it do something useful? I can reprogram it but the functions are either useless or redundant. ¯_ (ツ) _/¯
i recently got two UV-5R8Ws for free from work recently and i was wondering what are some legal and interesting thing to use them for
I have a new UV 5R MK5, and downloaded chirp and got a new cable to program. I am not able to have chirp detect or open the usb port that my cable is plugged into, it says access is denied, as well as no response from radio. I downloaded a driver install program found on this sub from a few years ago and tried that. Didnt work.
What else should I try to do in order to get the radio to talk to the computer and the chirp program?
Edit - I am on windows 11
