What’s a Barbie Movie opinion that would get you instantly hated by the fandom?

I’ve always known that my opinion of absolutely hating Princess and the Pauper and loving Princess and the Popstar would have Barbie fans all over the world filled with rage but I’ve been curious for a while what opinions other people have on the Barbie movies that are as controversial as mine is!

Feel free to discuss whether you agree or disagree with the opinions that people shares in a kind way!

(Note that I have absolutely no idea why I found Pauper boring so I probably won’t give any arguments on my opinion)

My classic Barbie movies Fantasy Tales bag from when I was a child

Here is my Barbie Fantasy Tales tote bag from when I was a child. It has Clara from Barbie in a Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel, and Odette from Barbie of Swan Lake. It makes me wonder what other Fantasy Tales merch was made.

Did anyone remember the Barbie Channel?

With Optimum? On channel 651? I feel like this is kinda niche since I know not everyone had Optimum but I remember as a kid when my mom, siblings, and I went to visit our uncle and he told us his TV service had a Barbie channel. I thought it was a cool memory that I just wanted to share with you all 😅

Custom Barbie and the fairy secret doll

I’ve always thought the official release of this doll was kinda ugly compared to the movie version, so as I hit a depression bump and was desperate to find something to do to get me out of my head, I decided it was finally time I tried to learn how to sew!!! And this was the perfect project!

I was shocked to see what a bit of determination could take me! I’m absolutely in love with the final results, and happy to say I’m finally over the dissatisfaction I had with the original doll!

Anyways, if you have the time and a mother who owns a sewing machine, get to customizing, it’s really fun!!

Ps: I made the wings, necklace and hair flower as well!

OG 2000s Barbie Movie Posters for room decoration?

Hi friends!! It’s been amazing seeing this Reddit community grow! I’m actually the founder of r/Barbie2000smovies and it’s made my heart so happy to see that so many people still care about the OG movies, dolls, and other merch. Shout out to our other amazingly fantastic mod for reviving this Reddit group to help it reach so many!!🫶🏻

Anyways, I am in the process of redoing my bedroom, and I’ve been scouring the internet for movie posters and even fan art paintings that would add a taste of 2000s “Barbiness” to my room!

I’m thinking Swan Lake, Rapunzel, and Nutcracker vibes since those are my favorites!

Anyone have any Barbie movie art/paintings on display they’d be willing to share for inspiration, and where I might find them?? 🧐

Also if anyone has any general tips or inspo pics for how they add 2000s Barbie Movie themes to their bedrooms I’d love love love to see that!!

My Personal Favorites of Barbie's Roles and Why 💕

  1. Princess Liana - Barbie and The Diamond Castle (2008)

The Diamond Castle has always been one of my top three Barbie movies as long as I can remember, and furthermore Liana has been one of the princesses that has resonated with me and matches my personality the most.

I've always adored the relationship dynamic Liana has with all the characters, and the way she is willing to stand up for what is right. She is such a supportive and devoted friend to Alexa, even after their fight in the manor. I also really like the way her relationship with Jeremy (one of the handsome musical twins) grew into love over the course of the movie, and how she showed so much compassion to the old woman she and Alexa bought the enchanted mirror from.

I really love how musical she is, and she has a little bit of a sassy streak that I think is very well executed in the movie. Plus I remember being absolutely obsessed with her princess gown and peasant dress, those were and still are two of my favorie Barbie outfits I desperately want for my wardrobe.

For me at least, Liana has one of the most loving personalities of any of Barbie's characters, and consequently I will always love her for that. 💖💞

  1. Princess Genevieve - Barbie in The Twelve Dancing Princesses (2006)

Like The Diamond Castle, The Twelve Dancing Princesses is another entry in my top three Barbie movies, and Genevieve is one of the main reasons for that. In fact, this film helped me grow into a huge enthusiast for ballet and made me want to be a ballerina! I was and am obsessed with all her outfits, not to mention her entire aesthetic and color palette matches mine to a T (or is it to a G? Lol 😂🥰).

Aside from the fact that she's an absolutely angelic dancer and singer, Genevieve's graceful demeanor and close relationship with her late mother, father, and siblings is something I've always admired, especially with her youngest sister Lacey. I also think it's a nice touch how Genevieve's sisters look up to her and consider her their de-facto leader, even though she's technically only the seventh oldest. Plus her crush on the cobbler Derek and their love story is just too adorable. 🌹💞

  1. Princess Anneliese - Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper (2004)

The Princess and The Pauper plus the last two entries equals my top three Barbie movies! Like the last two princesses, I am also obsessed with Anneliese's gown, and I highly admire her intelligence and love of learning, plus her super pretty singing voice.

I've noticed among the Barbie fanbase that a lot of people tend to prefer Erika over Anneliese, or see Anneliese as slightly "weaker" personality-wise than Erika, which in all honesty I've never understood. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against Erika lovers, I love her too! It's just that I don't think that how some label Anneliese as more of a pushover or the damsel-in-distress type does her justice, because she isn't either of those things. She was shown to be exceedingly independent and clever when she escaped the cabin where she was being held captive. She was able to escape the flooded mines through sheer ingenuity, not to mention she ended up saving the kingdom thanks to her knowledge of geology.

Also, as a princess and governor of her kingdom, Anneliese was born into a certain role of responsibility and obligation that Erika was never bound to, which of course wasn't her fault. Plus, when the kingdom went bankrupt, Anneliese was willing to put her own aspirations on hold and get engaged to a man she didn't want to marry so that her people wouldn't be out starving in the streets, which I've always thought was incredibly selfless and noble of her.

However, despite all the external pressure she received throughout the film, I love how Anneliese never stopped believing in her dream of being with her true love Julian and living her own life the way she wanted to live it, not the way everyone else expected her to. For me, Anneliese is an inspiration though this lens, just like Erika, and I will always love that about her. 👑💞

  1. Rapunzel - Barbie as Rapunzel (2002)

Barbie's portrayal of Rapunzel sticks out to me not only because this story is one of my favorite fairy tales, but also because of Rapunzel's undeniable benevolence, amazing creativity, vivid imagination, and her desire to explore her surroundings and be free of her prison. This is especially the case since I'm an aspiring artist myself. I also find her honesty and integrity incredibly inspiring, even when Gothel refused to believe her. Plus watching her and Prince Stefan fall for each other is always so heartwarming to watch. 🎨💕

  1. Rosella - Barbie as The Island Princess (2007)

This is a really amazing entry for me. Other than the fact that she can talk to and sing with animals (which I've always felt is a very cute and sweet ability to have), Rosella posesses a deeply nurturing and motherly touch not seen in a lot of the other Barbie movies, especially with her animal family. Plus, having grown up on an island, she is quite adventurous and athletic, and has a natural curiousity about the world around her. She is also shown to be resourceful and good with plants, as she knew how to make a natural rose tonic to reverse the effect of the sunset herb poison.

Rosella has always struck me as one of the most unique and multi-faceted of Barbie's roles in the franchise, and I find that really inspiring about her. In addition, seeing her and Prince Antonio's romance is super sweet to watch unfold. 🦚💞

  1. Clara - Barbie in The Nutcracker (2001)

Aside from the fact that she is the OG of Barbie's film roles, Clara is important for me to include on this list not only because of her kind and brave personality, but also because of the impact of her being the first Barbie movie heroine. I've always thought that Clara set a very high and inspiring example for all the Barbie roles that would come after The Nutcracker, something the others would to try to exceed or measure up to.

Plus she is an amazing dancer, all her outfits are super pretty, and I stand by the feeling that Clara and Prince Eric are still one of the cutest Barbie couples. 🩰💞

Fixed up the Elina I got for $10

whoever owned her before left the batteries in her compartment and they were so corroded, I cleaned it with vinegar and put new batteries in and they fortunately work! Also washed and did her hair

She’s beautiful! 🧚🏼‍♀️

Many hated this movie for not living up the OG P&TP but it didn't have to. Barbie did what she has to do with this film. The finale was her Pop Star fantasy dream come true and the song is chief kiss

My Barbie 2000s doll collection so far!

This is my first post to this subreddit so I thought I would give some background and introduce myself! Like many people on this sub, the Barbie movies were my entire childhood as a young girl. I was super shy and anxious as a kid, and I never felt comfortable anywhere except for when I was watching cartoons and playing with my toys. These movies and these dolls, meant so much to me and they brought me so much comfort. I had all the dvds and I watched these movies RELIGIOUSLY. I still watch the movies to this day and have rewatched them more times than I can count on both hands.

I recently started collecting the dolls from the various Barbie animated movies last year, around February, when I got my first job. I’ve found a lot of these on Mercari, vinted, and eBay and I’d say I’ve had pretty good luck in finding them in great condition! I’m still currently on the hunt for the first Elina doll from Fairytopia, a second Elina Nermaidia doll with her wings and her skirt, and I’m also looking for extra outfits and side characters :)

My favorites are definitely Erika and Anneliese but I love my Odette and Annika dolls! Second pic is side characters I own! <3 (I’m hoping to get better stands, shelves and curtains in the future to display them better but this is my set up rn! : D)
