Hi everyone, I'd just like to say that I'm leaving the BCU community. I guess some people might figure out who I am due to the conflicts, but I promise this post has nothing to do with that; it's just me venting. So please, if you can, read it until the end💕

(Moderator, please don't remove my post, it's not drama—I just want to vent before I actually leave)

A week ago, I asked the community for help with creating an enemy inspired by Darryl. I was misunderstood and became the butt of some jokes on Discord, but it was all just a huge misunderstanding; apologies were made, and I accepted them.

My venting post is completely inspired by the girl who vented here earlier, Kas. Unfortunately, I face a huge language barrier; I don’t know English. I’m not like you guys who know English and can actually communicate; unfortunately, I can only watch you all talk or post your packs. I’ve been trying to create an enemy fully customized by myself, completely inspired by the famous packs. I thought about creating a sub-chapter completely from scratch. But today, May 19th, marks exactly a full month that I’ve been trying to create a custom enemy completely on my own. And to be honest, I haven't even left square one, because unfortunately, I never learned how to use Mamodel and custom animation. So, the enemy turns out looking extremely poorly made, and that is far from what I want. I know everything depends on practice (as the moderator Vulc mentioned in a post), but there’s a catch: I don’t know how to start practicing if I don’t have a starting point to begin with. It does me no good to mess with numbers if I don't know what their function is, or what they are used for. What does it mean when I put a 0 and a -1 on a parent? I don’t know... And the problem isn’t just with the parents; the problem is as a whole. Every single feature in BCU is extremely difficult to understand when you don't grasp English, when you don't know English. I didn't even want to mention this here because it caused way too much conflict, but I wanted to open my heart and say: a tutorial would help guide me. I know you guys are overwhelmed and extremely exhausted because of the conflict that happened here, but I need to be realistic—I unfortunately cannot deny that this would help me.

I am Brazilian, and I know 20 other Brazilians who are going through the exact same struggle.

Then people ask me, "Why don't you join Discord and open a forum thread?" Unfortunately, I cannot use Discord due to personal issues involving my family (I don't want to mention it since it's a serious matter, but I wasn't the one who did anything wrong; rather, I suffered something on that app). I use Reddit to communicate with the community, and I believed it would be similar to Discord here.

Regarding the difficulty I have with BCU, it’s real. My recent posts show how much I've asked for help, how much I need help, but the chaos ended up pushing those posts aside.

So, before I go, I also wanted to suggest something. Just one thing: BCU is amazing, incredibly amazing. I love this app. But I feel that, unfortunately, there is no way for me to enjoy it because I don't know English. And the worst part of all comes from the app's own features, which are very confusing to me. I don't know how to differentiate between parents, pivots, or even how to navigate Mamodel. I try to animate and everything comes out wrong, and that discourages me because I waste hours on a project that unfortunately never left square one...

So, I actually ended up getting sick over this. Messing with BCU made me sick, since I spent day and night trying to figure it out. But why did I do all that? Because BCU could fulfill a dream I’ve always had: customizing my own enemies in The Battle Cats, since it's a game from my childhood.

Anyway, that's it, guys. I know this was a long vent, but I wanted to make it clear: I don't think BCU is bad—far from it. The community didn't seem rude to us; on the contrary, they only reacted hostilely because of the way other members reacted here. However, the difficulty for those who don't understand English still remains. A tutorial in another language isn't even necessary, just something capable of explaining it step-by-step, section by section properly. Then people could just use a translator to translate the document; I believe that would help people. That was my suggestion.

But unfortunately...

I just don’t feel good with BCU anymore. Thank you, community, for replying to my posts and interacting with me. May BCU grow infinitely more every single day! ❤️

Dear Reddit BCU community, Darryl's here. I think it is time for me to break the silence. I just want to say that My doc/manual for my BCU experience is just started developing. So ask anything in the comment, I may take them as references for what I could write into this doc, thank you.

Hey guys, I recently hopped onto Reddit just to reply to a post, but now I’d like to vent a bit about BCU. If anyone could read this post until the end, I’d really appreciate it ❤️, it means a lot to me....

can't take the struggle with custom animation and mamodels anymore [Rant in the post below]

Hey guys, I wanted to open up and vent a bit here on the community Reddit. I'd like to pour out all my frustration in this post and ask for some help.

I feel so alone. I've been trying to animate, mess around with custom animations, and even work with spritesheets or mamodels. I joined the community Discord yesterday and noticed it's more active over there, but there are barely any proper tutorials—they are incredibly scarce. People in the community seem pretty close; they are always hanging out in voice channels (VC) or chatting away. I also saw some really good suggestions there, but I just need to open my heart and get this off my chest

I feel like for us foreigners, or anyone who doesn't speak English and unfortunately has to rely on a translator, it's extremely hard to learn how to customize enemies. Personally, I really struggle to understand how Parents work in Mamodel, and I have a terribly hard time dealing with custom animations. For people who are used to BCU and already know English, learning is a breeze—they can just jump into a voice call, ask for help, and it's sorted out

But for me, being from another country, not knowing how to speak or pronounce English, and relying heavily on translators to read posts here on Reddit... I really need help. I feel lonely and left out. BCU has been around for over 6 years, and yet there isn't a single decent tutorial that makes us feel welcome or actually helps us. BCU is hard, the language barrier makes it way worse, and the Discord server not having a dedicated tutorial just ruins it for those of us who don't understand English💔

I just wish someone could help me and guide me on what I should do....

And just one more point, guys—don't be rude or anything like that. That would only push the Discord community away, and they won't help us if you keep being rude like this

No more Drama Posts.

I've seen enough posts about this, already deleted some already locked a few others.

You are free to ask for help about animating, and sharing tutorials you find on the internet/you made. But some recent posts about this drama do not help anyone but stir the pot and cause further drama. So I will be removing any further posts that would fall under "stirring the pot".

Hi everyone, good morning. I just wanted to say that I had no intention of copying any enemies; I was just asking for help. I wanted to learn how to use MaModels or create enemies with a style similar to Darryl’s because he inspires me, but I ended up becoming a target for 'mockery' in the server :/

I discovered BCU through Darryl's Unhappy packs, and I’ve always found it incredible how well-animated the enemies are—not just his, but many others I've seen. It made me want to try to create an enemy of my own for the first time. However, being Brazilian, I struggle immensely with English (I use a translator to communicate, just like many others in the community).

The thing is, I don't even know where to start. I recently learned how to work with spritesheets from a tutorial, but I don't know how to animate. I don't know how to use MaModels, I don't understand how parents work, or anything like that. I thought that if I asked for help using one of Darryl’s enemies as an example, someone might guide me or give me some advice. I’ve always had a hard time reading the server's tutorials because I don't understand English and have to rely on translators.

Because of this, I became a joke in the community—I even saw a comment from Darryl himself, which really discouraged me since he’s my main inspiration. I want to apologize for the misunderstanding; it truly wasn't my intention. I never wanted to copy anything. I just wanted help to learn how to animate and create spritesheets properly...

It's interesting how the BCU community judges a book by its cover without even opening the post to see for themselves that the person is just asking for help, rather than simply wanting to copy an enemy someone else already made

The screenshots above make it crystal clear that the person is actually asking for help to customize an enemy using Darryl’s as inspiration, not to copy it. They even explicitly mention in parentheses that they are Brazilian and don't understand much English. Instead of the community coming together to help new users like them, the only thing people do is share the Reddit post in the chat to mock them instead of actually offering a hand.

Always try to understand how things actually work. Not every new user wants to copy existing enemies from your packs; they want help. BCU has a difficult interface, and new users struggle immensely. Existing tutorials don't explain things properly for those who don't understand English. For new users from other countries who speak languages other than English, they depend on visual tutorials. If the community judges people like this or refuses to offer real help just because they assume people will 'copy enemies,' then the community is far more divided than it seems.

New users need help. Current tutorials aren't very clear, and as I saw in a post the other day, the BCU interface is already extremely difficult for newcomers to learn on their own—and the available tutorial is 3 years old. Don't forget, guys: BCU isn't just used by English speakers; there are people from other countries too. Instead of judging, try to welcome these people. They need help much more than you imagine.
