Trash corner and big, rusty, metal thing
I find that places surrounded by fences often have a bunch of trash trapped in them. Cleaned up this corner!
Is this a piece from bed frame? Looks like it's been here for a while...
WoT Book Club in Whatcom County?
Anyone interested in getting a Wheel of Time book club going in Whatcom County or Bellingham this summer?
Hovander house tours?
Does anyone know if there are still scheduled open dates/tours available of the house at Hovander? I see references to them in older blog posts but not seeing information on the county website. I wonder if that was sunsetted, perhaps around Covid?
Edit: I emailed the parks dept and they said tours are closed for the foreseeable future due to health & safety issues in the house.

Veterinarian Recommendations?
I’m moving up on Sunday and my kitty was recently diagnosed with FIC and I want to get him established with a good vet as soon as possible. I have insurance through Lemonade. From what I’ve seen, the pet culture is huge in BHAM so if anyone has any recommendations for a trustworthy clinic I would appreciate any and all! Thank you!! :) (crossposted)

Hardscape or concrete contractor recommendations
I am looking for a contractor to rip out an old patio and a couple of rotting retaining walls and to replace it all with concrete block retaining walls and a patio made of either poured concrete or pavers. Any recommendations? So far, my search has turned up Borrowed Ground, Landscaping by Garcia, Hardscape & Landscape, and Bellingham Concrete.

Keep off the grass!
If we're so concerned about things like the environment and droughts, than why are we still trying to emulate 18th century aristocracy by maintaining grass lawns? Besides the pollution that comes from various chemical applications and gas powered implements, it's also a big waste of money.
There are much better, low water intensive ways to manage our outdoor spaces while enhancing biodiversity. If people hit up their HOAs, and political leaders, maybe we could make the city an even nicer place to live.
“He was my heart.” Tributes are pouring in for Jordan Cernich, the father police say was shot and killed while trying to protect his girlfriend from her armed ex-husband in Ferndale.
pugetpress.comChick fil a
I LOVEEEE chick fil a, it is some of the BEST fast food I’ve had in a long while, I am SOOOOOO glad that we have such an AMAZING fast food restaurant and a good niche lunch spot here in Bellingham!! Let me know what you guys think about this!
Avenue Bread Bellingham
Bought a large lunch order at James st Avenue Bread and when checking out they added a 15% “service charge” and a 5% “to-go” charge without telling me. So I tipped on top of that another 10%.
On top of all that, the sandwich’s and salads that were purchased were just sadly small portions. Overall just incredibly disappointed with the whole experience.
Go get you some gas today! (still $5.19 at Costco)
Found this today.
Not from here but figured you locals would be able to make more sense of it ...Enjoy.
$600k in Bellingham gets you a brand-new build surrounded by trees. In Seattle it gets you a shoebox with graffiti in one bedroom
pugetpress.comI was hesitant at first because I dislike drama, but I feel like this gym needs to be held accountable, and this is the only way I can do it. I started bringing my 5- and 7-year-olds here for just under a year. They loved it; they made friends; my daughter competed in and won a huge tournament. I had truly thought I had found a treasure for my kids to grow in. My children are young, and the instructors here will encourage you, as a parent, to help your kids follow instructions and practice the techniques they are teaching. I had been doing this with my daughter and son every time we went; it was completely acceptable and encouraged. This is where everything went horribly wrong.....My daughter was practicing drills with a young boy I had known for quite some time. She was using the sweep technique incorrectly, so I quickly got on the floor with her and said, "Grab his collar or sleeves." Stop grabbing the back of his head. I got up and went back to my seat, as I had so many times before. I did not speak to this boy or even look at him; I only communicated with my daughter. For some reason, whatever I said to my daughter upset this boy; his mom became irate, and they stormed out of the gym. I got a call a few days later from 2 of the main coaches: "Jesse, we watched the video, and you did nothing wrong, but you can't come back to the gym." I also recorded THAT conversation. They also have cameras that prove everything I am saying. But because this boy is now disturbed by what I did and has a mother full of vitriol and hatred, their solution is to kick me out of the gym for doing exactly what they told me to do. I am the only one who can drive my kids to practice; they can no longer do jujitsu here. If you have kids and want to get them involved in Jujitsu, avoid this place at ALL COSTS. I imagine they will respond to this and try to defend themselves, but it's all bullshit, and I have proof. I will be exploring my legal options over the next few weeks. I will not forget this. And if the "mother" reads this, I hope you feel better about yourself. I hope hurting my children helps you and your child feel better, truly I do, at least you get something out of it, right? You should be so proud of yourself. What a great mother.
