Just of course HE, of all people, can barely be seen on this still. Life as a Carvelier is HARD.

Ten years ago, on discovering her husband Simon was having an affair, Gemma Foster enacted a masterful revenge. But the fallout was devastating when her 15-year-old son Tom disappeared. Now, in series three, Gemma is still a GP, still in the same house, but on the brink of a fresh start: she has met someone new and is getting married. But as the wedding day draws closer, and friends and family gather, shadows from the past begin to re-emerge threatening both her happiness and her reputation. As Gemma fights to protect those she loves and expose whoever’s intent on hurting her, will she be able to put the past to bed, dispense justice, and claim the future she deserves, before it is too late?

Doctor Foster had the UK gripped when it aired in 2015 and 2017, with nearly 10 million people watching the finale of series two. It also achieved critical acclaim and National Television Awards for both series, with Suranne Jones winning a BAFTA for her role as Gemma Foster.

The five-part series - created and written by Mike Bartlett, and made by Drama Republic (Riot Women, One Day) in association with Fictional Company and TeamAkers Productions - will see Suranne Jones, Bertie Carvel and Tom Taylor reprise their roles as Gemma, Simon and Tom after almost a decade.

Announced on August 19, Slow Horses and Criminal Record star Dustin Demri-Burns joins the cast as Callum, Gemma’s new partner, with Adam James returning as Gemma’s neighbour Neil, and Thusitha Jayasundera reprising her role as Ros, Gemma’s friend and colleague, and Anna Madeley returning as Lucy.

Question of the week: dream role

What character would you like to see portrayed by Bertie? Even if the character is supposed to be younger (I for one will forever lament that he never played Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing), go ahead!

Here's a snippet of Bertie reading 'The Odyssey' in a cab — one of the Almeida Theatre's 2015 Greeks Festival highlights.

All praise to Bertie for magnificently portraying the Noble Dragon: ASOIAF’s paragon of honour, virtue and selflessness.

And looking absolutely gorgeous while doing so. Thanks boss.

Petition to have Bertie audiobook ASOIAF? 😆😆😆

No shade on Roy Dotrice, but the more I hear Bertie talking in interviews, not to mention he’s clearly read the books, understands/gets the themes and is a GRRM fan…the more this is a no-brainer for me.

I recently listened to the Harry Lloyd audiobooks and they’re excellent!

Anyone have any familiarity with the process for how audiobook projects like this are brewed and initiated?

Question of the week: Favourite screen role

Hello fellow Carveliers! I always loved discussions, so I thought I'd do weekly questions unless I forget about them. And let's start with the most obvious question: which Bertie's role in TV shows and films is your absolute favourite? I know that not everyone has seen all of his roles, but even if you've only watched two or three shows, I'm sure you have a fave now!

A better quality video of Bertie at the "Game Of Thrones: The Mad King" World Premiere at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
