In 2021, Pulte Homes plead guilty to 22 counts of destroying gopher tortoise burrows in Marion County. The punishment? A $13,000 fine. Had Pulte Homes relocated these tortoises per FWC regulations, they'd have paid $44,000 or so. Folks there are so many things wrong with this picture!
