r/BlackMetal
Am I a black metal fan?
The only black metal or neighboring genre albums I like:
Dimmuborgir: Stormblast, Enthrone Darkness
Burzum: Belus
Moonspell: Wolfheart, Irreligious
Cradle of Filth: few songs: Saffrons Curse, Summer Dying Fast, Cthulu Dawn, Forest Whispers My Name, few others
Rotting Christ: A Dead Poem, Triarchy
Old Mans Child: Ill Natured Spiritual invasion
I dont really like Emperor, Dissection, Mayhem, Immortal and the canon itself basically
I like Gorgoroth however
So I wonder if I can call myself a black metal fan or not?
Skuggor - Laura Palmer's Theme (Sweden, 2026)
youtube.comI’ve listened to a couple episodes of the Iblis Manifeststions podcast and I’ve gotta ask — what the hell is this guys deal?
He seems awfully high on himself, is incredibly self contradictory and sometimes he lacks incredibly basic knowledge of the genre he claims to be so passionate about. Do people actually dig this idiot?
Dark Fortress - The Last Show Ever (14.05.2023)
youtu.beGive me critisism.
These are the last two songs on my upcoming debut album. I am looking for brutally honest critique.
Forest - Unfinished Song of These Woods (Russia, 1998)
youtu.beThe new song of my post metal band Hills Like White Lions! Have fun! 🚀 [FFO: The Ocean, Junius, Alcest]
youtu.beA little black metal riffing for this rainy day
Rained all day here. Did nothing but listen to black metal at work and came home and riffed out some of my own black metal
Blizzard Beasts
I got into Immortal in 1996 or so, feel in love with Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North. So epic and powerful.
When Blizzard Beasts came out, I actually loved it- super short tracks, strongly melodic, but damn, wtf is with the production?
But seriously. It is one of the weirdest productions I've ever heard. Everything sounds like it's run through chorus. The drums sound like match boxes. The snare sounds like a traditional Roland 808 snare. The vocals are as dry as sandpaper.
What happened here? How on earth did this come about? After years of raw production, less than hifi sounds are fine, but Blizzard Beasts is simply bizarre. I find it very hard to listen to now without hearing how badly recorded it is. Cannot imagine this being anyone's creative decision.
Imagine if it had the production of ATHOW or Pure Holocaust.
Suffering Hour - Transcending Antecedent Visions (USA, 2021)
Suffering Hour was the highlight of this year's Heart of Winter Fest for me.
Genital Shame - I Want to Die Before You [United States, 2026]
youtu.beAbbath being Abbath...
Went to SaariHelvetti fest in Finland to see Abbath, he comes late, no make up, throws guitar to the floor after few minutes and leaves. Ukri comes to say that the gigs over due health issues.
And I paid for this shit...
