TailScale Blue Iris as a Windows Service
Am running BI6 withe TailScale. Is it better to just leave BI open in Windows or run it as a service. Most of the time I am viewing the cams through the BI mobile app or UI3. Mainly concerned about security but want to know the pros and cons of each.
Why is the networked device listed in yellow?
I've been playing around with using an unused computer as an OBS server, uplinking a Blue Iris stream to EarthCam. Said computer is indicated in yellow on the bottom status bar. Why, and what does it mean?
We were robbed by an employee who i believe accessed the computer and deleted blue iris data.
Is there a way to check the Blue Iris DB for modifications or an IP log? There is a specific date range about 2 months ago i am looking for proof of manipulation and would love to be able to take some broader bulk logs and pump them into an ai to look for suspicious behavior. although i piped all the recorded file names in the into chatgpt and it failed to notice the glaring 1 week absence. Also want to look for strange camera outages because he was messing with wires, even our electrical cabinet has been tampered with.
Controlling external devices from BI
Four years ago we moved. At the old house I had 14 cameras in the woods to video the various creatures that wandered through. Now I want to do a similar setup in our new house. We are also tucked into the woods and there is plenty of wildlife around (a bear scared the crap out of me several month ago!).
What I would like to do this time is have BI communicate with an Arduino when a camera senses motion. The id of the camera would have to be passed to the Arduino so it would know how to react. I'm thinking over the lan as all my cameras will be wired and tied into a vlan.
Never having tried this before, I'm looking for suggestions where to start.
tia!
BI and Reolink OMVI 3i License
TL;DR: If you're considering a Reolink OMVI 3i with Blue Iris LE, be aware that you'll need the full Blue Iris license to view and record both lenses.
First, the good: I'm genuinely impressed with Blue Iris. I repurposed an old i7-7700K into an NVR, added an 8 TB WD Purple Pro, enabled Intel+VPP, and everything has been running exceptionally well.
Where I got caught was licensing.
I purchased the Blue Iris LE license because I own one Reolink OMVI 3i. What I learned is that the OMVI 3i exposes two independent RTSP streams (one panoramic and one PTZ). Blue Iris treats those as two separate camera objects, even though they're housed in a single physical camera with one IP address.
To verify this, Blue Iris support suggested testing the RTSP streams directly in VLC. Both streams worked perfectly, confirming the camera was functioning correctly. The limitation turned out to be licensing, not configuration.
By comparison, the Reolink app (Windows and iOS) displays both lenses simultaneously because it understands they're part of the same physical device.
I'm not saying Blue Iris is wrong, technically, each independently recordable stream is a separate camera object. I just expected a single physical camera license to include all streams provided by that device.
Hopefully this saves someone else a little time if they're planning an OMVI 3i deployment.
Setting PTZ presets on RLC-823S2 with Blue Iris
I'm having zero success. I have presets working within the camera's web UI, but nothing with Blue Iris. I'm wondering it there is a setting I'm missing?
UNV cameras - Can anyone suggest a camera of theirs for License plate capture?
I just learned today I get a good discount of UNV cameras. I have been shopping for a solid camera for License plate capture, and this could be my chance for an affordable option.
Can anyone suggest a UNV camera?
My research tells me IPC262ER9X10DU . What do you think?
looking for a small IP camera with HTTPS Snapshot URL support
Hi, as title.
Looking for something similar sized to this one:
https://www.amazon.com/REVOTECH-Camera-Indoor-Security-2-8-12mm/dp/B096VJWZ5N/ref=sr_1_4?th=1
Will be using it to take pictures of IDs so it must support HTTPS Snapshots to be compliant.
Got any recommenations?
Thanks!
