Day On The Green 1978 Unused Bill Graham Presents Ticket

1978 brought a spectacular series of Day On The Green concerts at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Stadium in May, July and September of that year. Bill Graham was known for creating massive backdrop sets featuring custom artwork by the legendary scenic shop FM Productions.

This ticket, issued by Bill Graham Presents (BGP), was primarily utilized by their Vendors, Associates, Clients, Friends, Family and Employees and was valid for any of the following events:

Day On The Green #1: The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Elvin Bishop, Dolly Parton, Norton Buffalo (May 28, 1978)

Day On The Green #2: Steve Miller, Bob Seger, Outlaws, Ronnie Montrose, Toby Beau Band (June 17, 1978) (This show was cancelled when Steve Miller backed out. Bob Seger and Toby Beau instead played in the arena on June 18)

Day On The Green #3: Aerosmith, Foreigner, Pat Travers, Van Halen, AC/DC(July 23, 1978) This was Van Halen’s first Stadium gig as far as I am aware.

Day On The Green #4: The Rolling Stones, Santana, Eddie Money, Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals (July 26, 1978) Billed as the "Very Special Day On The Green," as The Rolling Stones did not initially have a tour date in the area.

Day On The Green #5: Ted Nugent, Blue Öyster Cult, Journey, AC/DC, Cheap Trick (September 2, 1978)

The Gothic Vampire Theme

Blue Öyster Cult are one of the original pioneers of the gothic vampire mythos in their music. Some explicit, many oblique.

Tracks like Nosferatu serve as an overt, cinematic adaptation of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent film.

I Love the Night leans heavily into classical Romanticism and the myth of the Lamia and frames the vampire not as a monster, but as an alluring, seductive entityoffering an escape into eternal darkness.

Tattoo Vampire explores visceral bloodlust and links body modification and physical tattoos directly to predatory vampirism

After Dark hides veiled references to the daily needs and survival habits of the undead and details the nocturnal transition of a creature that only emerges once the sun sets.

Apart from these, any others come to mind?

This might be one of my favorite BOC songs. I'm a true crime junkie and I don't know what happens here. Does he kill somebody? He says he had a fight with his buddy, and later he was drinking his whiskey and holding his wife (and the image goes black). Did he kill somebody? I don't know, I dont know

I open my eyes

From a dreamless night

With a sense of dread

You could cut with a knife

So I'm thinking that

Maybe I killed somebody

You never know - you never know when

You might have killed somebody

Veins in my eyeballs

Damage that I've done

Veins on the stairway

Veins in my skull

I visit my friend

We have a fight

I’m drinking his whisky

I’m wanting his wife

Then the image goes black

Did I kill somebody?

’Cause there ain't no clue, there's no clue

That I killed somebody

Veins in my eardrum

Banging at my door

Veins in my brainwaves

Veins on the floor

I get the shivers

And I've got the shakes

People screaming my name

Like there’s no mistake

I can't believe it’s true

Did I kill somebody?

But I just don't know, I don't know

Did I kill somebody?

Veins on the sidewalk

Veins know the score

Veins in my mind, oh

Veins ever more

New Tattoo

My first concert was Blue Öyster Cult in Seattle, August 7th, 1981.

So this year, August 7th, 2026 - 45 years later - I got a tattoo to commemorate it.

Lost Blue Öyster Cult Album?

In this 1992 interview with Eric Bloom, he mentions that there would be an album released after the Bad Channels soundtrack that year. I am unable to find any other mention of this or any of the songs that were reportedly performed live from it. Best guess is maybe this album became Heaven Forbid? Although Heaven Forbid wouldn’t release until 1998.

BLUE ÖYSTER CULT (1981) Fire of Unknown Origin [Full Album Remix & Remaster]

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWX4gIKCAIdI

My stem remix & remaster of Blue Öyster Cult's 1981 album "Fire of Unknown Origin", made for my own enjoyment, but sharing in case someone else might enjoy it too.

I made this only for fun, and it intends to be a very respectful remix, not straying too far away from the original version, only aiming at a little more clarity, instrument separation and punch, while still preserving the mood and feel of the original.

Obviously, I don't own the music featured here. If you like the music, support the artists. Buy their records!

The symbol lives on

So I was scratching my hair the other day and that strand of hair landed on my finger as so. This then inspired my first tattoo. I'm a 25 yr old liSwati man from Africa. Rock and roll will never die as ACDC sung
