Tahiti is so much more than the island you fly into.
Get away from Papeete and you’ll find a completely different side of French Polynesia—towering volcanic peaks, lush valleys, waterfalls, swimming holes, hidden trails and scenery that feels almost prehistoric.

🥾 If you love hiking and adventure, Tahiti deserves a few nights of your trip.
Some of my favorite experiences in French Polynesia happen when you trade the overwater bungalow for hiking shoes and head into Tahiti’s interior.

And the best part? You can have both.

Spend a few days exploring wild, mountainous Tahiti…then continue on to Moorea, Bora Bora or the outer islands for those dreamy lagoons and overwater bungalows.

Don’t just land on Tahiti. Stay on Tahiti. Explore it.

This island might surprise you. 🌺

📸 This hike is exactly why I keep telling travelers: Tahiti is not just a gateway—it’s a destination.

Who else would add a hiking day to their French Polynesia itinerary? 👇
