What’s going on with Joan Jett and Live???

It seems Joan Jett dropped out and was replaced with live. But yesterday they posted a new graphic for Thursday that has neither Joan Jett or live. On their website it still shows Joan Jett but not live. In the app it shows Live on the schedule.

Any bands that aren't great live?

Wondering if anyone has some not favorable feedback on artists that are going to B&B who don't live up to the hype.

Our group is trying to narrow down what bands to see and don't want to skip someone for another who just isn't great live.

Is the pit still VIP?

I noticed on the festival map that the pit for the main stages is unlabeled. Does anyone know if this is still a VIP area (Mint & Angel’s Envy) or are they letting in the gen pop this year?

Advice for first timers

Advice for first timers and people going solo

I’ve done general admission 4 times now(and loved it) and have done VIP 3x this year will be my 4th.

A few thoughts/tips: I’m local so the areas I frequent during the festival are the local hotel bar across the street after the final act as ride share and leaving are a real pain in the butt. (Definitely use a shuttle service if you can).

I definitely recommend buying some nice shoe inserts a day before the festival. Walking never bothers me and I’m in fairly decent shape and my feet were killing me by the end of day 2 a few years back. I bought shoe inserts and it made a huge difference on the gravel. I still am not sure why VIP get gravel and general admission get nice turf.

I’m someone who tends to stand toward the front and try to rail ride or close to it most of the day and am not overly chatty but I think it makes the festival more fun if you make small talk with people you will be around so you can lookout for each other/hold spots if you need to use the restroom.

In general admission my advice is to stop drinking or at least use the restroom 2 hours before the main acts go on because if you are up front it can be a bit stressful getting back up front after you leave to go to the restroom as the main acts get closer. B&B crowds are generally friendly but every year there are a few hard \*\*\*\*\* that like to throw a non harmful elbow as you pass them going up front, refuse to move or make comments as you try to get back to your group. (I understand the look when a group of 4-6 people try to barge up front right at headliner time, but never understood the tough guy mentality when it’s just 1 person by themselves making their way back from the restroom.

Overall, the weather isn’t too hot and I’ve never gotten cold at night.

Make sure to stay hydrated with the free water and chill toward the back during the day for acts you don’t care about as there is usually a decent amount to do and see around the grounds. Crowds don’t tend to fill in until around 5 or 6 PM.

I’ve been to Louder than Life, Buckle Up, Gentleman of the Road, Forecastle and Stadium festivals. Boubon and Beyond is my favorite due to the ease of entry, variety of bands and generally friendly crowds that have a wide range of ages.

For things to do away from the festival grounds I’d try to do a bourbon tour downtown at Old Forrester or Angels Envy. Also, Bardstown Road is where the locals go to hang at bars, not 4th street live.

What to do for parking?

Hi Everyone, first time B&B goer here. I saw there's ParkMobile parking, but I also heard that there are people who open their yards at a cheaper rate near the festival to park your car. What have you done in the past and what do you recommend, especially since there's a lot of ground to cover in how big the festival is?

First Time Questions

I am a first timer and have several questions. Any helpful answers are welcome.

How hard is it to move from the back to front stages between artists? Same question for the Main stages at night. Also, I don't see the Bluegrass Situation stage on the map. Where is it? Is it worth carrying around a towel to sit on, or should I just sit on the astro turf?

No Acts Opposing Headliners?

Is this the first year that all 4 B&B headliners will be completely unopposed each night, with no acts overlapping on any other stage? Anyone know what the rationale might be for that? Even though it can be a bummer to have to choose between acts playing at the same time (and there are plenty such clashes throughout each day this year), doesn't this approach make it more likely that the crowds for each headliner will be all the more unmanageable? Even a partial overlap of two bands for an hour or so would help diffuse the crowds upfront somewhat (and offer at least one other option to those who don't love the headliner). Seems extra odd that on Friday, even the sub-headliner (Kacey M.) is unopposed. Or do I have it backwards, and it's actually a way to subtly encourage some attendees with no interest in that night's headliner to leave the grounds, allowing crowds to disperse on a more gradual/staggered timeline?

Lawn Chair Area

Hello. I've been to Bourbon and Beyond twice in the past and loved it. Unfortunately my knees are bone on bone and all day standing is almost impossible at this point.

I think I can/will stand for a few acts but not all day or the longer sets.

So my question is: how far back is the lawn chair section? Have you sat there before? I know I will have to stand there a good portion of the day, but I have the option to sit and rest through a band I don't like or a song here and there.

I know I won't be close, Im just wondering if I'll be close enough to see and appreciate the show from further back. I don't want to drive from St. Louis to watch a screen.

Can someone compare it to an indoor show like from the upper deck? I'm speaking of distance, not view.

Any tips/advice from previous lawn chair experiences would be appreciated.

I bring a chair to Evolution Fest in St Louis (where I live) and the chair area works fine it's just behind the GA standing area.

I will of course enjoy the screens, but I like to be able to see the stage.

Thanks!

First time attendees

I am making off a bucket list band and I am looking forward to this show very very much! As this will be the first festival I attend with both of my adult children!

What are decent hotels around the area or what is considered a decent area around or near the venue? I will be booking hotel rooms for 2 nights and obviously I don’t want to end up in the wrong side of town…. Any advice or guidance is appreciated!

Yes I am using one of the booking apps but I wanted to see opinions from actual people attending the show or familiar with the area.

Thank you all in advance!

RIP "Ronnie's Batch" 2022-1 Booker's

Starting something new...

Booker’s 2022-01 “Ronnie’s Batch” — 8.9/10

A fantastic Booker’s that brings the heat without sacrificing flavor. Big, bold, and surprisingly complex, with unique flavor profiles that kept evolving from sip to sip. The proof is definitely present, but it works beautifully with the rich, layered character. An outstanding pour from start to finish.

RIP, Ronnie’s Batch. You fought bravely and we had a great run, but... The bottle is officially dead. #freshBOTTLEkill

When is the schedule usually posted?

Just curious if there is an official date, or is there a general consensus of when it will probably drop?

Trying to do a playlist for what I can go see for my partner who doesn’t have as much experience with these bands.

Instagram name change

Anyone know what’s up with Bourbon and Beyond taking the “Bourbon” out of their name changing all their branding on Instagram to “& Beyond”?

Posters?

Do they typically sell posters for the festival at the merch tents? Or do you have to order those online later. Debating bringing a poster tube and don’t want to lug it around if I cannot use it.
