we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Zaujímali by ma hlavne skúsenosti od mamičiek, ktoré sa pokúšali získať miesto v bezplatnom programe. Podarilo sa vám ho rezervovať? Ak nie, akú ste mali alternatívu? Rodili ste nakoniec inde, alebo ste si vedeli dodatočne dokúpiť niektorý z programov Nateo?
A ak ste boli v takej situácii, ako to celé prebiehalo? Bolo ešte možné Nateo dokúpiť, alebo už bývala kapacita plná?
Budem veľmi vďačná za každú čerstvú skúsenosť, aby som vedela, aké sú reálne šance a či sa oplatí spoliehať na bezplatný program. 🙂
We are here for a little while and are loving our time in Bratislava. We’ve had some fun days exploring the city and have met majority friendly people, overall it’s been a great experience.
We’d like to do a bit of hiking or exploring outside of the immediate city area but are not sure where to start. Nothing extremely challenging or technical and we’d prefer to access it by public transport if any way possible.
We prefer to do hikes that also include landmarks (such as castles or abandoned towns/etc) instead of nature only but that’s just a small preference. What do you recommend? Any other places close to the city that’s worth exploring (not Vienna lol) that most people would normally miss? Thanks!

Vo voľnom čase po večeroch kódujem projekt Firespot (firespot.app) – je to mapa, kde chcem dať dokopy verejné aj súkromné ohniská, altánky a miesta na kemping/karavaning na Slovensku, aby ľudia vedeli, kam môžu ísť bezpečne a bez pokuty opekať a vyčistiť si hlavu.
Technickú fázu mám hotovú, aplikácia funguje, nahodil som tam systém odznakov, úrovní a dokonca aj rezervačné kalendáre pre správcov/majiteľov areálov. Aplikacia pre iOS je už takmer vonku, Android je v uzavretom teste.
Môj problém: Platforma stojí a padá na ľuďoch (komunite), ktorí tie miesta do mapy reálne z terénu pridajú. Skúšal som o tom písať do rôznych turistických a kempingových skupín na Facebooku, ale admini všetko okamžite mažú a blokujú s tým, že ide o "reklamu a sebaprezentáciu". Pritom projekt je neziskový, nebežia tam žiadne reklamy a robím to sám pre komunitu.
Ako by ste na to išli vy? Kde a ako zohnať prvých reálnych ľudí, ktorí radi chodia do prírody a boli by ochotní pomôcť naplniť mapu dátami? Máte nejaké overené triky, ako obísť túto FB byrokraciu, alebo úplne iné kanály, ktoré vám pri projektoch zafungovali?

Našiel by sa niekto na hrávanie spoločenských hier? Či už pravidelné alebo nie. Celkom ma to s pár kamošmi chytilo, ale málo kedy sa vieme dohodnúť aby nás bolo 4-5. Tak som si povedal že skúsim napísať, za pokus nič nedám. Najčastejšie hrávame hry ako unmatched, Nemesis, Witcher OW/POD, prípadne ľahšie hry typu výbušné koťátka, ale vyskúšame hocičo.
Plus tí, ktorí chodievate hrávať board games do mesta aký podnik by ste odporučili? My hráme vždy len u niekoho doma, prípadne v shisha towne. Alebo ak máte niaku komunitu/discord tak dajte vedieť.

Ahoj, uvažujem o prenájme bytu na Tupého, budova stojí v prvom rade priamo nad polokruhovou remízou depa, výhľad z okna rovno na ňu.
Zaujíma ma:
- čujeť to cez zatvorené okná a ako je to cez otvorené?
- v noci tam je kluč alebo lokomotívy jazdia a trúbejú?
- brzdenie - je to škrípavé alebo nie?
- trasú sa okná alebo steny pri prejazdoch?
- robí sa tam nejaké hlučné opravačské práce a kedy?
- ak tam bývate alebo ste bývali, čo by ste mi povedali, čo by ste chceli vedieť pred nasahovaním?

UPD: Ďakujem všetkým za komentáre, nečakal som toľko odpovedí! Čo sa týka infraštruktúry - viem o tom a pre mňa to nie je problém, rád jazdím autom a celkovo nablízku sú miesta kde sa dá trochu poprechádzať. Zápchy tiež nie sú problém, keďže pracujem z domu a môžem vyraziť keď sú cesty voľné. Jediná vec čo ma trápi je či tam nebude hluk. Rád bývam s otvorenými oknami a či mi to nebude príliš vadiť.

Mám taký problém, sťahoval som sa z Karlovky, kde bolo parkovanie relatívne voľné, (s výnimkou boxov na prenájom, ktoré som z hĺbky srdca nenávidel) do starého mesta a neschvalili mi rezidenčku na PAAS. Aké mi ostávajú možnosti? Mať auto odkundes v Karlovke mi príde ako pridaleko, a pod mostom Lanfranconi mi to príde ako najlepšia možná alternatíva, o ktorej viem, ale počul som že tam od 15. Júla chcú taktiež zaviesť PAAS. Ostávajú mi ešte iné alternatívy??
Garáže a parkovacie miesta sú predražené a odmietam dať 200€ mesačne na parkovacie miesto, keď mi tam auto bude v podstate iba stáť, keďže vďaka dostupnosti MHD ho využívam minimálne, iba na cestu domov na stredné slovensko raz za dva, tri mesiace. Jediná alternatíva, ktorá mi napadá je nechať auto doma.
i was at bratislava for a side trip from vienna for a day. as soon as i got off the bus to walk around the city a guy in a car told me to go to him and he started mocking me in chinese (im canadian, but have a chinese background). he seemed like a broke druggy so who cares. then i got to the old town, thats when some random guy came up to me and started yelling, then i just laughed at him and i kept walking. he then said something like fuck off and fucking chinese or something. but then again it was another brokie. minor racist encounters as long as it doesn’t hurt me doesn’t really affect me, but does this happen often to anyone else? will things escalate the next time i go for a longer period of time? I know no one will know for sure but i’m just wondering if i just got really unlucky or something. mind u im a minor and these full grown 40 year olds are acting like children at 1pm on a Thursday 💀.
Me and my neighbours live in central Staré Mesto. We keep having problems with drug users attempting to enter the building and visit their dealer. We think they are meth people.
Last night my neighbour was coming home from watching the world cup, around 2am. There was a small group of them outside the door trying to get in. He began videoing them on his phone and asking them to get away from the door, as they don't live at that address.
One of them snatched his phone and refused to give it back until he threatened to call the police. He did in the end call the police. The police were supremely unhelpful, they declined to take a statement from him as he had been drinking but didn't do anything about the druggies waiting to get into the building.
We share a landlord, who's also the building manager. They have not been super helpful either. We believe the drug dealer owns the apartment in the building and is not renting, so he can't be evicted. I've seen the police visit his apartment multiple times, one time was even a full on raid. But he's still there and there's still people visiting him at all hours of the day.
What can be done?

In a few weeks I am going to be in Bratislava for a day. What is the national dish? The most popular beer? I am going all around Europe and I am going to do things like drink champagne in the champagne region, or eat wienerschnitzel in wien. what is the Bratislava version of that?
I travel a lot, and I keep coming back to the same thought: Slovak supermarkets suck so much. The selection of food is poor and the quality is questionable. Meat is horrible, the dairy section is somewhat very basic (like the cheese is just… not good)and deli stuff barely exists.
And it’s not like I’m comparing Bratislava to Tokyo or Paris. I’ve been to a LOT of places, and almost ANY other country does this better. Even in Yerevan, which I literally just flew back from, the level of everything blew me away. Service, products, restaurants, variety - all noticeably higher. Even premium supermarkets in “developing” countries like Brazil offer way more range in dairy, meats, and prepared foods than for example Yeme in Bratislava
So what’s the actual reason?
Is it just that Slovakia is poorer? Or is it that people here genuinely don’t demand more, so the level stays low? I lean toward the second one, honestly, because the restaurant scene tells the same story. I’ve never seen a worse restaurant scene in any capital city than Bratislava.
Not trying to dunk on the country - I live here. I just genuinely want to understand the why. Slovaks, set me straight: am I missing something, or is this just how it is?
