Pedal Brisbane Group Ride - Saturday 23 May (5.30am roll out)

The Pedal Brisbane crew are planning a social group ride on Saturday 23 May. The details are:

  • Starting: Bicentennial Bikeway North Quay - basically where northbound riders coming off the GBB arrive - the under cover area on the right of the bikeway if you're heading outbound from the city
  • Distance: 71k's
  • Rolling: 530a
  • Pace: Wicked - mid 30's to 40's.
  • Format: This is not a regroup ride - it's go full gas till the coffee shop at Cordeaux Social
  • The Route: Lumpy as hell out to Redbank then back to Chelmer where it picks up River Loop - and after a short respite, gets lumpy again as we navigate the cemetery and Highgate Hill

The weather looks pretty good so come along and have a fun ride and a coffee at the end...

Where is all the ebike stock?

Shortly I'll be in the market to buy an ebike. But during my research, I've noticed that there is a real lack of stock of ebikes. Particularly in the local bricks and mortar shops, with the specs I want/need and in my price range.

So, do the bike shops get stock all at once or in dribs and drabs? Do I hold off, or do I get my finance ready, keep an eye out and then pounce when a suitable bike comes up?

Pedal Brisbane Group Ride - Sat 16 May (5.10am roll out)

The Pedal Brisbane crew are planning another social group ride tomorrow. The details are:

  • Starting: Ship Inn Southbank
  • Distance: 86k's with the option to add a Coot-tha lap on at the end
  • Rolling: 510a
  • Pace: High 20's into the 30's

This is a no-drop ride with a coffee stop around Eight Mile Plains.

We're using a bit of the Brissie to the Bay course so once we get to Toohey Hill on the Veloway expect it to be lumpy for the next couple of hours - there's a couple of nasty little climbs on Avalon and Ford as well.

The weather looks reasonable, but keep on eye on PB's Strava page

Giving Away Race Credit I Cant Use!

Hello, I hope this doesn't break any of the rules of this community, but I recently had to drop out of a race and have received credit for 165 AUD that I am not able to use and would prefer to give it to someone who will. However, the credit applies to a pretty small select group of race both cycling and other IN AND AROUND BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA. The list of races is:

Adelaide Epic

Kingscliff Triathlon - March & November

Noosa Enduro

Tour de Brisbane

Straddie Salute

If you or someone you know is planning on completing one of these events in the next year please comment and I will message you with the voucher! I would really love for SOMEONE to be able to race instead of this going to waste!

Proposed e bike laws changes

Committee recommendations

Under 16s banned on all e devices.

Licence requirement exemption for those medically unable to drive but able to ride.

The committee recommended the 10km/h limit not apply to shared paths unless otherwise signed, and that the department consider a limit of 15km/h within 10 metres of a pedestrian on shared paths.

And non compliant e bikes bought before new laws be exempt.
