Atheist Nonprofits, Bristol and Beauty

The Town of Bristol has a rich and vibrant history, hosting one of the country's oldest 4th of July Parades. So when our organization decided to get into the spirit of the America: 250 Celebration, we just had to apply to be part of the Parade. Plans were made, George Washington Wigs ordered, and our team was excited and raring to go. However, the Bristol 4th of July Committee, which is surprisingly not affiliated with the town or the people of Bristol, had other plans.

After months of leading us on and delayed communications, we found out that our application to be part of the parade was rejected. And while religious groups and other faith-based organizations were welcomed to participate, the Committee made it clear that atheist nonprofits were not.

But we didn’t let that get us down! So instead, we decided to invest our energy into contributing to the beauty of our great state through the RI DOT Adopt a Spot Program! Our sign is now up in Bristol and we’re in the final process of deciding what delightful plantlife we’ll be adding to the scene. Stay tuned friends
