Lens recommendations for SQ?

Hi!

I've been having a little a GAS, and been wondering what lenses for SQ-A are worth having.

At this moment I have:

  • Zenzanon S 50mm F3.5
  • Zenzanon S 105mm F3.5
  • Zenzanon PS 180mm F4.5

Now I'm eyeing a S 250mm F5.6 which is pretty cheap on eBay. There might be a catch with them?

What would people recommend in general? 80mm? 150mm?

Thanks!

Bronica ETRsi found for 30€

I think I was very lucky, I found in 3 parts in a move for €10 each. It looks functional I can't wait to test it :)

Missing pièce on Bronica ETRsi

Hello everyone, I bought a beautiful bronica for not too expensive but I noticed that a piece is missing on the back of the case. Do you know where I can buy this piece? Does it even sell?

Where is this light leak coming from? Bronica SQ-A, Portra 160

Hello, Bronicites, I have one back (I think) that occasionally exhibits strange light leak behavior. All these images are from one roll of Portra 160. They show one half of the image with slightly more exposure than the other split roughly down the center left and right. From time to time I'v seen horizontal light leak streaks especially on the top left, but this is the first time in 20+ rolls seeing this exact problem. I usually leave the dark slide in until right before I take the photo. Was the light just that bright this day?

Do you have a recommendation for a light seal kit or person who works on these? I tried to replace the seals on one of my 220 backs a couple years back and actually made it worse. Thanks for looking.

Update: thanks for all your advice. I’m going to run a couple black and white test rolls through both backs looking for leaks. I’ll try some with the slide in between exposures, some out, some with it taped over.

Auction score

Managed to score this lot on auction for a good £550/€640!

2 backs, AE prism, WL finder 50, 65, 110, 150mm lenses, some extension rings, , polariser and a polaroid back. The last might not be more than a paper weight these days but still.

Well happy as it's my first mf film system!

Brand new(to me) Bronica!

I have just joined this esteemed community with my latest purchase of my Zenza Bronica GS1. Took it out this morning with a very expired roll of Portra160 and a brand new roll of Portra160 to test and compare results.

Bronica Zenzanon PE 180mm F4.5

ETRSi with the PE 180mm F4.5. I am reliably told that this was the last lens produced in the Bronica factory before it closed.

Here is a photograph of a cat.

Adapting other lenses to the Bronica GS1?

Has anyone got any experience adapting other medium format lenses to this camera? I've just purchased one but haven't started my research on lens mounts/flange distance on this system yet. Thought I'd ask this esteemed community of their experiences first.

Side note: I do enjoy these lenses from what I've seen so far, but I would love to be able to get something a little faster for low light/portraits ideally

(GS-1) Will swapping focusing screen for a brighter screen cause the viewfinder's light meter to be inaccurate?

Was curious about getting a new focusing screen since mine is a bit dirty even after a clean. I was curious if getting something like a Brightscreen would cause the light meter to be inaccurate with the screen now coming thru brighter? I know those screens are generally meant for waist level finders...

Macro setup testing (GS-1, PG 110mm)

I did a test of the minimum focusing distance of my macro setup on my GS-1!

  1. 110mm macro lens

  2. 110mm macro lens + g-36 extension tube (I believe it is 1:1 macro? Or 1:2?)

  3. 110mm macro lens + g-36 + nisi 77mm close-up diopter

Super excited to get this close on medium format, something that is normally very difficult!
