I hate arabic schools in Brunei

As an arabic school student in Brunei, i kinda find the subjects more increasingly payah. i js want someone to take my point srsly (other than my mum who understands my problem), and if u're a parent reading this rn, pls do not force ur child to masuk k skulah arab. bcos tbfr, skulah arab is actually insane. & plus, why do we even need to learn arabic? I mean, there isnt even a work field where u need to learn arabic. the only good part is tht u js hafal Quran and other islamic stuff. thts all. btw, i also remember pulling all-nighters before exams to the point i had a mental breakdown.

i also have mixed feelings towards my tchrs bcos some are hella strict (to the point one of them made my classmate cry and stress out) and some are chill. but are there any tchrs who are willing to help with their students mental health? no! i dont even think they're trying!

tchrs in my school also js dont even try to help their students bullying case. as a student who's been bullies b4, i reported it to guru kaunseling countless of times and they literally tried to 'soft parent' my bullies. like, wth bro??

idek why i even chose to be an Arabic School student. i actually moved there so i would avoid my toxic friend back at my skulah rendah. and now? bnyk lgi problems. it's deteriorating my mental health piece by piece. ada lgi fake friend msih. im struggling with depression rn and idk how to ask for help now... i js survive with my phone. thts my only hope. btw, even my mum is gonna make me move schools by the end of the yr. yay.

i hope anyone DOES read this, and i apologize if there's something I'm missing. god, i hate this school sm.

Any jobs that accept teen in brunei?

Can anyone suggest any places that accept anyone under 18?. I know if under 18 would need parental consent but that’s not really a problem. The only problem is where can I find places that accept below 18.

Before anybody takes this the wrong way I just want to be financially independent and not have to rely on my parents for money.

I made a site for strays :)

Hi everyone, I just vibe coded a site that fundraise for strays in Brunei. I hope this is received well ><

The site: https://forthestrays.lovable.app

It is a site that takes either one-time or monthly donations! Any amount can make a difference :)

The money will go to TNR, to sterilize them so we can prevent more stray population and bringing more into this cruel world, as well as feeding them.

The site has 3 different languages: English, BM, Chinese, so we can reach more people

Whenever I can, I feed strays and also sterilize them. I used to fund everything myself but now I need help to keep going.

Some may misunderstand that spaying/neutering is cruel as it involves a surgery but it is actually the kindest thing we can do for them.

I’m not too sure if many people here care about the stray animals here but i’m gonna give it a shot.

Some people have started donating already and i’m so happy because I was really doubting if anyone really cares TT, i love the silly names

A stranger just contacted me because they saw my site and they told me how they have 40+ cats and it is getting out of hand. I won’t judge how it got to that extent but for the animals’ well being I hope we can come together so we have the resources to help them all live better lives.

There’s also a Learn page on the site if you are interested to know more. I have personally spent 2-3k just on strays the past few years. I understand it may be hard to donate on the internet now due to scams so I’m happy to answer any questions you have! But for now, trust me bro

It would be great if some people can help me start talking about this more too ❤️

How I managed to create a Stripe account

After sharing my fundraiser for strays yesterday, we managed to raise BND380!!! So grateful for everyone who were willing to contribute and who chose to trust me, I promise it will all go to the strays. Genuinely don’t have to worry about my personal gain because I spend a lot of money on them myself too.

We can now fund 2 sterilizations, but still very far from the goal (at least 6 dog sterilizations needed in my area right now, and i wish to help the stranger with 40+ cats, and of course we need to tackle so many more places).

That said, somebody asked how I created a Stripe account and I won’t gate keep don’t worry. However, a lot of people may be disappointed so I’m gonna get it out of the way first, if you’re Bruneian, chances are really slim unless you really really want it and go through a lot of loopholes and get help from a Malaysian friend.

Here is what I did:
(it was 2 years ago so memory is a little blurry, but the general outline is there)

1. SSM Business Registration in Malaysia

This is a business cert that supports online/home based business in Malaysia. I went to the SSM branch in Times Square Miri, beside public bank, I think I went there to ask questions but it’s possible to do it all online

YOU NEED TO HAVE AN ACTUAL BUSINESS FIRST
( create a simple online store with a real business and website, whether it operates in Malaysia or Internationally so you can prove you are legit during registration )

The SSM registration requires you to have an address as well. At that time, only Selangor area allowed this type of online/home based business cert/registration, I assume it is still the same now, so your address provided have to be in that area.

• Sole proprietorship using your own name — RM30/year
• Sole proprietorship using a business/trade name — RM60/year
• Registration is done through SSM EzBiz Online.
• You receive an SSM Business Registration Certificate after registration.

The reason I did this registration is because the main business registration requires you to have an actual shop or office.

2. Stripe

After you have the cert, just register a Stripe account with all your business registration details.

You need
• Malaysian Bank to receive the payouts
• To enter your business website for Stripe to verify it is a legitimate business

I put stripe on my website through lovable (vibe coding app). It was quite simple, just paste some code and it was connected. Probably works similarly for other platforms.

STRIPE FEES
~ 3% + RM1 per transaction (Malaysian Card)
+ 1% (International Card)
+ 2% (If amount charged not in RM and Stripe has to convert for you)

Aaaand you have to deal with Malaysia Tax but I have no idea how it works right now so my future self will probably not be too happy.

That’s about it I think. Not sure if I missed any details but I will be happy to answer your questions. Though my memory is a little blurry now as it has been awhile since.

Thank you again to those who gifted the strays, if you’re interested to check out more on the initiative, here is the link.

I have been involved in strays lives for as long as I can remember, and especially after PawsUp started operating, they taught me a lot about strays and now I want to do the same for them.

Updates Page (where i post stray updates)
Learn Page (where you can understand more about strays and why its so important to sterilize them)

Jogger got bitten by stray dogs. Photo from facebook page Seen & Real. Credit to Seen & Real.

This is exactly what I was afraid would happen and today, it became a reality.

For years, whenever concerns were raised about stray dogs, some grown adult who defend the strays would say, “If you don't disturb their peace, they won't bite or chase you.” But who came up with that assumption which grown adult say that? A human being can simply be walking along, minding their own business, and still end up being chased and bitten.

Today, it was an adult. That person may now be traumatized, injured, or left with a permanent scar. What happens when the next victim is a child? What if the next incident results in a serious injuryor even death? At this point, we need to seriously ask who should be held responsible?

Is it the people who abandoned these animals in the first place? adults who continuously feed, defend and protect stray dogs while insisting that “they won't bite if you don't disturb them”? or is it the relevant government agencies that have been contacted repeatedly about these issues but failed to take effective action?

I am not saying every stray dog is dangerous OR potentially dangerous, nor am I saying animals should be harmed. But public safety cannot be dismissed simply because “they've never bitten me before.” We should not wait for a child to be seriously injured or for someone to lose their life before taking the problem seriously.

What happened to these car brands in Brunei? Looking for the current status of older/discontinued brands

Hi everyone,

I'm currently researching the history of the new-car market in Brunei and trying to clean up some information about brands that seem to have disappeared, changed distributors, or stopped being sold here.

I'm trying to establish the current status of each brand, rather than simply assuming that a brand has exited because its old showroom is gone.

For each brand, I'm trying to determine whether it is:

Moved — still officially sold new in Brunei, but moved to a different distributor/dealer.

Exited — no longer officially sold as a new car in Brunei.

Run-out — the distributor is/was still responsible, but only existing stock is/was being cleared and the brand is no longer actively bringing in new models.

Brands I'm trying to verify:

Peugeot

DFSK

Changan

Alfa Romeo

Daihatsu

Dodge

Jeep

Chrysler

Volvo

Chevrolet

Volkswagen

I'm especially interested in what happened to the brand and when.

For example, if someone knows:

"Volkswagen used to be with Maju Motors, then stopped selling new cars around 2022 and was never transferred to another official distributor."

That's exactly the kind of information I'm looking for.

Likewise, if a brand was transferred to another dealer, I'd like to know who the new distributor is.

And if there are still some old/new units sitting around, please mention that too, because I'm trying to distinguish between an actual exit and a simple run-out situation.

If you know any of these brands, please comment with:

Brand:

Previous distributor:

What happened:

Approximate year:

Current status: Moved / Exited / Run-out

New distributor (if moved):

Source/evidence (if available):

I'm particularly interested in first-hand information from people who worked for the dealers, owned the cars, or remember when the brands were being sold.

Also, if I've incorrectly included a brand here because it is still officially selling new cars in Brunei, please correct me. That's actually very useful for this research.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve experienced sexual harassment and abuse at different points in my life, and I still don’t know how to talk about it

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I genuinely don’t know where else to put these thoughts.

I’m a woman and I’m intentionally leaving out my age, location, workplace, and other identifying details because I’m not ready for anyone to know who I am.

I’ve experienced inappropriate sexual behaviour and sexual abuse at different points in my life, starting when I was young.

One of my earliest memories involves an adult I trusted behaving inappropriately toward me while I was asleep. I was too young to understand what was happening at the time. I only understood years later what that memory actually meant.

I think that’s one of the hardest things about childhood experiences like this. Sometimes you don’t even have the vocabulary to understand that something wrong is happening.

Years later, while I was doing an internship, something else happened.

I was working in a predominantly male environment and was observing some work being done outside. One of the men touched me inappropriately in front of other workers.

What shocked me wasn’t only what he did.
It was the reaction of everyone around him.
Some people laughed. Some encouraged him. Some looked away.

I completely froze.

I didn’t know what to say. I was embarrassed and terrified, and I couldn’t bring myself to confront him.
At the time, I blamed myself for not reacting.
I still sometimes do.

Then I met someone else during that period of my life.

At first, he seemed kind and caring. He talked about his family, was attentive, and made me feel like I could trust him.

Slowly, however, I started noticing things.
He frequently asked me for money or expected me to pay for things. I was young and didn’t have much money myself, but because I cared about him, I kept helping.

There was also a difficult period in my family when I had to spend a lot of time at a hospital. He was around and helped me during that period, so I trusted him even more.

I thought he genuinely cared about me.
One night, when we were alone, he pressured me into sexual activity even though I repeatedly refused.

I was scared.

I didn’t know how to get away safely, and I was afraid that resisting further would make things worse.

Eventually, I stopped fighting.

For a long time afterwards, I questioned myself because I didn’t physically fight him until the end.

But now I understand that freezing or complying because you’re afraid doesn’t mean you consented.

The part that confuses me even more is that I stayed in contact with him afterwards.

I convinced myself that maybe he would change. I thought maybe we could eventually have a serious relationship. I even tried to involve my family because I genuinely believed he might be the person I would end up with.

Looking back, I think I was emotionally attached and desperately trying to make sense of what had happened.

Eventually, I discovered that he had lied to me about major parts of his life. There were other relationships, financial problems, and things he had hidden from me.

That’s when I finally ended things.

But ending the relationship didn’t mean the trauma disappeared.

Even years later, certain situations make me uncomfortable. Sometimes I become paranoid around people. Sometimes a small thing brings back an old memory and suddenly I’m right back in that moment.

I’ve also thought about how different things might have been if I had documented everything or told someone at the time.

Maybe there would have been consequences.

Maybe not.

I’ll never know.

What I do know now is that I was not responsible for someone else’s decision to violate my boundaries.

If you’re reading this and something similar has happened to you: freezing doesn’t mean you wanted it. Staying doesn’t mean you consented. Being unable to fight back doesn’t mean you were okay with it.

I wish someone had told me that earlier.
I also wish I had understood that I was allowed to trust my instincts, leave situations that made me uncomfortable, document things, and tell someone I trusted.

I’m still ashamed sometimes.

But I’m slowly realizing that the shame shouldn’t belong to the person who was trying to survive.
I’m posting this anonymously because I’ve kept it inside for so long, and I think I’m finally tired of carrying it alone.

Ps the real text is actually in brunei malay but i chatgpt turned it into this whole text without naming anyone, place or work place to protect my identity

So any good news? Specifically got a job this month?

I've been stuck for 10 years without a stable job, I've applied numerous jobs like low skilled jobs already, they either ignored me or rejected me, if lucky the most desperate company that tend to lied and tricked you just to replace the previous employees (e.g FAFICKO). Graduates are increasing every year after year... And only to witnessed a people with only o levels getting a proper job.

I get it, we must not learn to get a stable and proper job, until o level saja.
