CDCR to Placer County

Hey guys.

I’ve been with CDCR for 2 years. Administration, is terrible. Supervisors don’t care about the front line staff. Mandatory holds destroy home life. So I’m thinking about making the switch. I’m applying for correctional officer 2 as a lateral with Placer County Sheriff’s office. More pay, better retirement and I can transfer Calpers over. I got my PAEL certification and just was sent my PIQ questionnaire prior to my interview. Asking to see if others have had a similar experience going from state to county and information is appreciated!

Thank you!

Transfer to KVSP

Looking to transfer over to Kern after completing almost 3 years at my current institution
Not sure what the turnaround time is for transfers down there, or in general, but if anyone has any insight on it, I would greatly appreciate. Also how the prison is, I currently deal with level 4 SNY on a 180 yard. Don’t wanna think I’ll have problem adjusting to the prison since the entire complex is level 4.
Planning to submit the transfer request Monday

Thank you

What does this mean for "new" budget?

Anyone know what the" modified or removes various reporting requirements" refers to? Also looks like they removed language for another closure.

This is from Newsome revised budget from 2 days ago.

Vision exam

I had a question, I passed the psychological written and vision screening a couple weeks ago and had my medical exam last week, where they also tested my vision. I turned in my form from my eye doctor stating I’m corrected to 20/20. I’m pretty much asking does the vision exam at the medical exam matter? I wasn’t wearing my contacts since it didn’t say I needed to wear them on any of the forms or notices.

Question about SDI vs NDI vs ENDI

Just thought I’d ask here, since the main CA State Workers are still falling apart over RTO. So, I’ve never had to use SDI for the county or city, and just assumed state was SDI. My friend who works a little further north, said that her doctor wrote her on leave, but the state doesn’t recognize SDI. Instead, they offered NDI, which is only $135 a week. Crazy!!!!!! SDI will pay up to 1750 weekly. $135??? That’s the stuff we need the unions to combat. And ENDI, apparently pays 50% of your wages, but it is taxed where again, SDI is not taxed. What happened to the state’s benefits? So you mean to tell me that if I get injured or if I’m stressed out and my doctor takes me off of work, I can only qualify for $135 a week? Sickening. We’ve paid into disability, now it’s non existent?

Bring youtube back

I swear this is so annoying. You guys pay us like shit morale is low. Inmates are bunch of cry babies and they get everything they want. Youtube is the only thing we had to listen to some music and chill out and now we dont even have that.
