Creating a Spoil Boatd

Hi all, I’m new here and hope to get some advice please.

I run a 5x10 Phantom Reaper CNC mill with a vacuum table. We are having issues with our spoil board preparation process. We use three-quarter inch MDF. Our process has been the following:

  1. Surface the old board and keep it attached.

  2. Put the new piece on. Fly cut the backside to reveal the porous layer.

  3. Flip it, cut the bolt holes. Remove the old spoil board, bolt down the new one and surface the top side.

This method has given us inconsistent results. The MDF tends to warp when we are cutting the first side.

I would greatly appreciate anything the would share their best practice for doing their spoil board?

Thanks

Anyone interested in a CNC relief/design sharing community?

I’ve been working on a small project for CNC hobbyists and relief carving artists where people can:

Share CNC designs

Upload relief/mural work

Explore AI-generated bas relief workflows

Discuss ArtCAM, Aspire, ZBrush, depth maps, etc.

I also built a tool that converts images into CNC-style relief/depth designs for experimentation and learning.

Still improving everything, but I’d genuinely like feedback from other CNC users and makers.

What features would you want in a CNC design community/platform?

Cannot get my SainSmart Proverxl 6050 plus to connect to any computer

I have had my cnc for a few weeks and haven’t been able to get it connected to any computer. I have tried multiple usb cables and different laptops. I have tried installing and uninstalling the driver many times. I have tried using Candle as well as UGS. Every time I plug it in it says the usb device isn’t recognized or isn’t functioning. I am running windows 11. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
