Best front suspension upgrade?

Hi! It seems the Öhlins shock seems to be the go to for the rear of the bike, but the "only" supply a spring kit for the front. I assume there exists some better solutions, but I find it hard to sort through and figure out what is good and not. Does anyone have any knowledge to share?

Reliability issues with running 13t front sprocket

I have already ordered a 13t front sprocket, but then started to read that some people claim a smaller front sprocket will put extra wear on the countershaft and one guy even said he started getting oil leaking through after using 13t. Any more people out there that have this experience, or is it completely fine running 13t front sprockets?

USB charger and 3D printed holder

There are smart looking options for MD47, but not so much for MD38 and MD44.

However I have finally installed USB charger with 3D printed holder. Now I don't need to carry a power bank any more. I wonder how you guys do.

crf struggling to wheelie, clutch slipping?

Im no expert at wheelies, but I can not seem to get the front wheel up when in second gear. In first gear it pops up with relative ease. I had a friend that is really good at wheelies try, and he couldnt either. Is this how all crf 250 rallys are? Sprockets are stock.

Hello from Japan, CRF250L MD38 2013.

I got this about 3 years ago with 7,000km / 4,350mi. Now almost 36,000km, I am slowly upgrading worn parts.

Dropped the bike in the water, wouldn’t start right away, but it did later - why?

So, I’m going through a stream crossing earlier today, and a wooden stick jammed my chain tight inside the actual chain deflector, stopping me dead in my tracks. I put my foot down on top of a submerged log, slipped off it, and I dropped my bike on its right side in the water. Standing in the water, the water level was just below my knee.

Once I got the bike back upright, I pulled the air filter out. The bottom of the air box appeared to have seen some water (I’m kind of guessing here because I had never looking inside the air box before this happened),but the air filter felt dry, as did the carb entrance.

I undoubtedly did the wrong thing and tried to start the bike. The starter engaged and the engine made the standard starting sound for a fraction of a second before cutting out completely - ALMOST as if the cylinder was full of water the piston couldn’t move. I’m sure that was not the case, but that’s what it seemed like. I tried to start it several times over the next 15 minutes, but with the same result.

I proceeded to remove the seat and all the plastics in an effort to remove the spark plug and blow out any possible water in the cylinder. I also thought I needed to remove the fuel tank which I ultimately couldn’t due to its rear fastener.

In any event, all this took some time (note to self - include fly spray in my tool kit next time), because I couldn’t move the bike and I had to do this in the middle of the stream.

At this point - after I had pulled the spark plug lead off but before I could get the spark plug out - some atv’ers happened upon me after being in the water for about an hour or so, upon which I tried to start the bike again. This time the engine turned over, and eventually the engine came back to life. The seat and plastics went back on and I headed off on my merry way.

THIS IS THE QUESTION:

What was the actual issue with the bike? Was it something electrical, and things just needed to dry out a bit before the bike would start again, or was it something else?

I’m keen to understand this - if removing the seat and all the plastics did nothing to resolve the starting issue, then I would prefer not to go through that process in the future.

What should I have done?

Shifting problem

So, I was riding my bike (2020 CRF250l ABS) yesterday and randomly my shifter stopped working. Still moves up and down and returns to its normal position so the return spring is fine I'm assuming. I tried rolling it and everything, but it will not get out of second gear. I'm assuming I'll need to crack open the right-side crankcase cover but don't know exactly what to look for once it's open. Does anyone have any pictures of what I need to check? Gemini was telling me there's a star bolt that might be backed out but I'm having trouble figuring out which one that is. Appreciate any help or tips!

edit: Found the problem. One of the teeth on the gearshift spindle is completely bent. Got the parts ordered. Does anyone have a link for the full-service manual? Appreciate the help.

Normal Front Sprocket Noise?

Have the bike on a stand and am rotating the rear wheel in neutral. I don’t expect a metal chain on metal sprocket to make no noise. But is this noise normal? I just can’t remember if it’s always sounded like this.

Handlebar bend and length recommendation

Im looking for a low bend handlebar for my crf250 rally. I like cutting 1cm of each side aswell, and im then struggling with fitting brakelever, clutch turnsignals etc. Does anyone have any recommendations? Most motorcrossbars I find have very little space for handlebar electronics :/
