CRF300L 2025 fork bridge torque values

Just realigned the forks on my CRF300L after someone knocked it over.

I used the torque specs for the fork bridge pinch bolts from a document that gets cited across multiple forums and Reddit posts, but 29 Nm for both the upper and lower bridge clamps seems pretty high to me.

I’m more used to values around 12–17 Nm on bridges of other bikes. Has anyone here confirmed the CRF300L specs from another source, like an actual service manual or is 29 Nm really correct?

Two links for the torque sheets i found:

Crf300L (with suspension revalve) or KLX300; which one would be a better trail bike in elevation

So, I ride more on the aggressive side, and also tighter single track with rocks. They are not flat easy going trail. I already have a 2 stroke for "harder" enduro, but looking to buy maybe a CRF300L for your "general" solo trail exploring and throw on "high mileage, no maintenance bike".

I think the main question here, is the power and the grunt between the 2. If I remember correctly, the CRF300L has a bit more tractorable power vs the KLX300.

But I am wondering if anyone ridden both on tighter, steeper and rockier kind of single track.

Thanks in advance!

Chain Wax Question

I noticed when I got back from my ride today, that my chain was weirdly clean in the middle as well as the o- rings. Is that possibly from my sproket or from using an offroad chain lube?

Can anyone tell me what this sensor is in front of the shifter?

I went to look at a 2023 crf300l with around 1000kms on it and noticed a small oil leak presumably coming from whatever this sensor is. I've tried to Google it but can't find anything. Should I be concerned there's a leak on such a new bike?

Rear spring upgrade? Is it worth it?

Not wanting to get too crazy with the suspension; Just wondering if a rear spring upgrade is what im after for a budget option. trying to fight some of the sag when riding (im 220lb) and want to throw on some camping gear for some motocamping.

Is doing only the rear spring a viable option? I havent had too much problem with the front, just notice I lose alot of travel and bounce alot on bumps in the road with the rear. I hear the stock spring is 70kn, what should I be after for a goal of ~250lbs of weight on the bike?

let me know all your thoughts and opinions

Side Racks + Toolbox

Does anyone know of some side racks that don't block the toolbox? Fairly positive these are PMRacks, but either way, this left one blocks the toolbox completely. I can open it, but it doesn't open far enough to use it. 🫤

No siruh, I don't like it.

Drain plug and crush washer question

  1. Purchased it almost 2 years ago with 800 miles. It now has 1950 miles and I finally am changing the oil. Maybe for the first time? My drain plug is a torx T 50. When I took it out, there was no crush washer. The Honda oil change kit I got came with 2 quarts of 10W30 Pro Honda synthetic oil, oil filter, oil, filter gasket, and what I presume to be a crush washer. The silver thing. The diameter is too small to fit on the drain plug. So I just put the plug back in with no washer like it was. It was never leaking oil or anything. What does everyone else have for a drain plug?

I bought the Roja Moto tool kit, the deluxe around the world one and it does not have a T 50 fitting in it, which I found odd because I thought it was comprehensive. Of course, I have one in my toolbox at home but just an observation.

First “crash”

I got on some of the most technical trail I’ve ever been on yesterday and had my first crash on this bike. I’d descended a rapidly deteriorating/increasingly technical section and was really pushing my limits. I decided to turn around before the trail got worse, and I ran out of time to get home for an appointment. On the way back up I kind of goosed it a little too hard up this gully and ended up high on the bank and just slowly low sided it. No damage to bike or myself. Was a fun day on the bike and a good session of limit pushing. Will be back.

Definitely need some more aggressive tires, still running the stock ones. Everyone says D606 rear, MT 21 front. Looking for other recommendations for very aggressive DOT tires.

It's new bike day!

Bought this as a loaner for friends, something for my kid to cut his teeth on, and for strapping to the back of my truck when traveling.

Installed a headlight guard on my CRF300 Rally. I needed a bit of modification to fit

Finally added a headlight guard to my CRF300L Rally before gravel season in Alberta. The install was mostly straightforward, but I did run into a fitment issue and had to trim part of the bracket to make it work properly.

Curious if anyone else has had similar issues with aftermarket guards on the Rally?

Swapt my xt660r for a new crf300 l. What a difference! Installed the new rally raid shock, rally front, tail tidey and bashplate. Now ready for the TET!

I had a xt660r before, but this is much more fun. I opted for the rally first, but the huge amount of plastic put me off.

Odd vibration started at 9k miles

My '21 CRF300L Rally has run flawless since day one. I'm lucky enough to never have had the '5k buzz' or anything like that.

The problem is that I've picked up a weird vibration that started recently. I just turned over 9k miles on the bike. I do oil changes yearly since I don't do anywhere near 8k miles in a year. The air filter was fairly dirty, so I replaced that. The spark plug is in great condition.

The vibration mainly happens between 4-5.5k RPMs. It almost feels like I'm lugging the engine a bit, even though I'm well over 3500 RPM. I don't let the engine get below 4k unless I'm starting from a stop. It just has that deep 'vibration' like I'm lugging it though. Not bad, but it's noticeable. Over 6k RPM, it smooths out.

I have no idea what this, or why it would wait until 9k miles to start happening.

Anyone have any ideas what would cause this?

Another great ride! Mostly….

Shortly after snapping some pics I attempted a very steep loose rocky hill.
Fell over halfway, no big deal but a big rock smashed in the side of the rad. Leaked all over.

Time to go. Turned around, made it through some tight trails then about 15 min of highway.

She got me home, love this bike!!
