tuition

hi everyone! does anyone know if the school raised tuition prices? I'm currently enrolled in 3 classes for next semester as im waiting for spring 2026 grades to process before I can enroll in 2 more for full time. I noticed that my I owe 4.3k for only 3 classes when I usually owe roughly 3.8k for 5 classes.

UPDATE: Turns out you can legally force them to answer. They have 10 days to respond

A few days ago I posted about CSUDH sitting on $26.5 million in investments with zero transparency about where that money goes. 2.9k views and 50 upvotes later, I want to give you an update.

I am not someone with a clean story. I started here as a CS major, dropped out, tried coming back a couple of times, and every time family obligations and money got in the way. Right now I am back at community college taking it one step at a time, and that is okay.

At one point I worked directly with corporate at the world's largest kids coding franchise, and helped build part of their AI curriculum that is being used right now at over 400 locations. I am proud of that work. But I also started to feel something was off about it. The families paying for those programs, the franchise fees, the whole model was built for kids whose parents could already afford to invest in their future. I loved teaching kids how to code but I wanted to do it for kids who actually needed it. I know people say that it's okay to not have everything figured out. but I didn't know I liked coding until college. Why did I have to wait that long to find out what I like and what I'm good at?

That's what brought me here. No political agenda, no class assignment, just actual frustration with who gets access to opportunity and who gets left holding the bill for a system they never fully benefited from.

So I sent that email to the CSUDH Philanthropic Foundation, the entity that controls the $26.5 million endowment, asking who manages the investments and whether any of it is tied to GEO Group or CoreCivic (largest private ICE detention contractors in the country) and I CC'd the VP of Finance and CFO directly. I also just filed a California Public Records Act request today, which means they have 10 days to respond by law, and if they deny any part of it they have to tell me exactly which law allows them to. If they stall I can escalate to the California Attorney General.

Maybe nothing comes of this. But apathy is how they win, and I am not giving them that.

I will keep you all updated, and thanks again for the support!

Our school has $26.5 million invested somewhere. I think we should know where.

So I went down a rabbit hole and I wanted to share this with you guys.

CSUDH has more money than just our tuition. The school has something called an endowment, basically a giant investment account worth $26.5 million. That money gets handed to a fund manager who invests it in companies to make it grow. I literally had to look up what that was.

The two biggest companies running ICE detention centers are GEO Group and CoreCivic. They are private, for profit businesses. The government pays them per person detained. In 2025 they made over $4.8 billion combined. The more people ICE arrests, the more money these companies make. That is their whole business model.

Our school could be investing in them right now and we would never know.

I pulled CSUDH's public tax filings and the investment section is completely blank. No transparency about what we are actually invested in. So I am sending a letter to the Philanthropic Foundation asking them to disclose who manages the money and whether GEO or CoreCivic are in the portfolio.

Cal State LA did this exact thing in 2016 and won. The entire UC system pulled $25 million out of these companies after students pushed hard enough.

Given how many of us here have family and community members directly affected by ICE raids, I think we deserve to know where our school's money is going.

I'll keep this updated. If anyone wants to get involved or has questions lmk.

Graduation Help

I am planning to graduate in Spring 2027 and would like clarification on the graduation application requirements.

I am a transfer student and already have more than 90 completed units. At the beginning of Fall 2026, I expect to be enrolled in 6 courses and will need to take 5 additional required courses in Spring 2027 to complete my degree.

I noticed that the Graduation webpage states that students are eligible to apply if they have completed 90 units *and* have fewer than 10 courses remaining. However, the Graduation FAQ states that students are encouraged to apply if they have completed 90 units *or* have fewer than 10 courses remaining. I have completed over 90 units but need 11 courses.

Would I be eligible to apply for Spring 2027 graduation during the Fall 2026 application period?

Additionally, when determining the number of courses remaining, are courses currently in progress during Fall 2026 counted as remaining courses?
