incoming postdoc💚

I’m about to accept a postdoc at CSU paying 60K a year.

Moving from the south so I have questions…

• I drive a prius. Am I screwed or can I leave it at home and rely on public transport in winter weather?
• Where should I be looking apartment-wise for my life stage? I am 26 and don’t want to live next to undergrads hopefully, I go to bed at 9 :’)
• Similar question; what’s reasonable for a 1BR?

Any advice extremely helpful and welcome 💚💚

Admission decision

Is the admission decision for PhD or MS usually late at CSU? Most of the universities have already either denied or accepted applications, but I am yet to hear from CSU.

PS. I applied to the ecosystem science and sustainability course at Warner college of Natural Resources.

Which is easier? JTC 300 or CO 301b?

Electrical Engineering student here. I have a heavy course load in the fall and need to take one of these two classes. Which one is the easiest? Thanks in advance.

Can I apply for my RamCard during orientation?

I'm having trouble accessing RamPix and I'd rather do it in-person. Is that something I do on my own time or will there be a slot allocated during orientation?

Did anyone else endure the grad ceremony at Moby?

Like that was the greatest amount of sheer chaos I’ve ever experienced in my life. Starting an hour late, not having enough chairs for the graduates, mixing up the order of the graduates on the stage, and then getting an email halfway through blaming everything on the weather. Major shout out to the faculty who stepped up and made sure all the graduates had water and weren’t overheating and helping the staff direct the flow of foot traffic. And to the brass band that had to play for 42 straight minutes as they figure out how to fit all the graduates in the arena.

Getting my lil bro an e-bike

My little brother is going here for this upcoming school year, and his family lives in Indiana, so he'll be on his own there. His other siblings and I were planning on getting him an E-bike, but I'm concerned about charging and theft. I don't want to saddle him with the responsibility, and with them not allowing indoor charging and theft, I'm a bit worried about that.

I'm wondering if 1, I can make an ebike look trashed enough (spray paint, duct tape, scuffed up motor), that it won't be stolen as long as he puts like 2 or 3 locks on it. I've also realized that to go full on redneck engineering with it, I'll probably have to do a modded bike, but whatever.

And 2, if we do get him an E-bike, what are the chances that he would get a roommate/ra that would throw a fit about him bringing the battery inside and putting it in one of those litiam battery bags to charge while he's in the dorm?

PSA - CSU buries r*pes, just go to the news. Police don’t care.

I was raped by a CSU phd student last summer. Found out after the fact he us a high profile science personality there. Went to the police and filed a title ix.

Nothing. CSU’s title ix office did not follow up. The police were only interested because he tried to roofie me, then dropped that angle because… ?

After going to therapy and taking antidepressants, i gave up and emailed a copy of the police report to the parents of my attacker. That is all i get. They deserve to know who they raised.

If you get attacked by a CSU phd or staffer, go to the news. The police dont care. CSU absolutely buries this shit, there is more than one predator on that campus.

For the record, i am autistic. Thanks, Alan. You raped an autistic man.

Braiden Dining Hall Closing for Good

This feels very hush hush by the administration, and I haven’t seen anyone talk about it on this sub, but Braiden Dining Hall is shutting down after this week. They’ll be turning it into a marketplace. As the only dining hall near the academic classrooms, I don’t understand this decision. It seems like the decision is final, and I’m not sure there’s anything faculty, staff, and students can do to combat it. I don’t have a ton of details, but if you ask the workers in Braiden, they can confirm. RIP Braiden Dining

If you transferred to CSU, what was your experience like after?

Considering community college for the first 1.5 years and then transfer in the spring of sophomore year to Warner College of Natural Resources. Concerned about being behind on connections and being like an ‘outsider’ since I wouldn’t have started the first year with others in my program. Or missing out on internship/program opportunities that are important for natural resources. Any other concerns you had as a transfer that ended being irrelevant or things that you didn’t think about?

Any tips on making the most of community college prior to transferring?

When should I start applying for Work-Study jobs?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently an incoming freshman studying Biochem for the 2026-2027 fall. I was wondering if I should start applying to jobs on Handshake now or if I should just wait. Most jobs I'm seeing right now say that start dates are in June. Is there anything I should look out for??

Dumb question how common is it to people in Colorado and the people of Colorado State University fort colins eat rockey mountain osters

I'm asking because I like this university and it's campus I think it's cool and it's one of my go to universities once I finish community college but if I were to go to any university in Colorado, I would want to get one thing out of my system and how common is it for people to eat it. Plus it's pretty obvious. I don't live anywhere close to the Rocky Mountains and I come from Chicago and the only oysters 🦪 that I've ever eaten are tcorn puffs and cheetah puffs maybe some spaghetti and meatballs it may not be my cup of tea and I might've tried it once without realizing it when I was little vacationing withmy parents, deciding to order it and I thought it was just regular oysters

Prospective Student Visit on June 20th?

We will be in town (from out of state) on June 20th and curious what might be open to see on campus. We know it’s the one Saturday in June the admissions office isn’t doing any official tours, so won’t be a full tour experience.

We could also rearrange to be there on the 19th if better, but likewise no tours available.

Apartment viewing time

Hi all! I’m moving to CSU from out of state to start a new job.

Realistically, I can only be in FoCo in the week of 07/15 for apartment viewing. With an expected move-in date of 08/10. Wondering if that’s too late and if the inventory will still be available.

I’m planning to stay along in a 1B1B or studio apartment. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!
