e.g. Carrie, The Fury, the Medusa Touch, and the Eyes of Laura Mars? Was it just the fad of the time like New Age religions or the social and cultural revolutions happening in America at the time? Was it just Hollywood trying new things and being experimental or did they get a sense that the public might be interested in them?
Anyone familiar with the ThunderCats™ cartoon will no doubt recognize the disclaimer that appeared during the show's first-season end credits:

I haven't seen it yet. Is it worth watching? I keep hearing the first season is incredible.
