Best Place to Get Fitted - Ontario

Hubby and I are looking to get fitted this winter. Wondering if anyone has recommendations on the best place to go?

I will be getting a full bag, my husband is looking for at least a driver fitting.

We want fitters who aren't locked into a particular brand, who are comfortable fitting different brands throughout the bag dependant on what is needed.

What’s the best place to live as a golfer?

Hey everyone,

Job is pretty flexible. Looking for recommendations on where to move so I can enjoy excellent golf. Don’t really care if it’s year round, but would be nice.

How do you think national opens should fit into the new two tiered schedule? My proposal....

As a Canadian, I feel uncertainty about the future of the Canadian Open. Slotting it in either tier removes the spirit of what a national "open" championship should be: An opportunity for pro's (regardless of tour) and amateurs alike to qualify and compete for a national title. I'm sure folks in Scotland, Ireland and elsewhere with big national events feel the same way (The Canadian Open without Nick Taylor or the Irish Open without Rory or Shane would suck). Taking it out of either series compromises the caliber of players eligible for it. This would be the disaster scenario for the opens and their prospects of remaining relevant. And given geography constraints, these tournaments can pretty much only take place in the Summer, and conflicting with the two tiered schedule would basically relegate them to Korn Ferry events.

From what I can tell the biggest barrier is the calendar. The PGA tour does everything it can to avoid running up against the NFL schedule. So they need to pack every key event in the 25(ish) weeks between the Superbowl and week 1. So not a ton of room to squeeze in four majors and about 16-18 other proposed stops. But a window does exist for a win win scenario where the two tiered series and the national opens can all thrive...

My proposal: Pause the Championship and Challenger series' for a month in the Summer (mid-June/July). Create a third series of events for national opens that start with the U.S. Open, then stops in Canada, Ireland, and Scotland (maybe one more if it fits). In 2028 they would probably need to fit the Olympics in this as well. But the series would culminate in the Open Championship. You could even retain or expand the qualifying element to each of the national opens (e.g., a top 10 finish grants a spot in the Open). They can brand the whole thing "The Open Series" or "Open July" or whatever. It wouldn't be drastically dissimilar from the current schedule. Right now the Canadian and Scottish Opens both lead into the two majors so they wouldn't need to move far in the calendar. Also, as with the national opens now they wouldn't be mandatory stops for the players, who may want a break from the grind for an event or two in the middle of the summer.

What do you guys think? It would obviously require a lot of cooperation between the PGA and the various national associations. I'm trying to think of drawbacks but can't come up with any. But let me know what you guys think? What am I missing here? It seems like a win-win solution for everybody.

EDIT: It would make a cool photo-op following the Open Championship to have one with all the winners of the different national opens.

I Built a Website to Find Tee Times and Compare Pricing in Canada - LetsGolf ⛳

Every time I wanted to play golf, I'd end up jumping between different course websites and booking platforms just to answer a few simple questions:

What courses are near me? What tee times are available? How much do they cost? What's the weather going to be like? And what does the course actually look like?

LetsGolfhttps://letsgolfgta.com

LetsGolf lets you search for golf courses and tee times near you, while bringing the information you actually need to decide where to play into one place.

You can find:

  • ⛳ Available tee times
  • 💰 Pricing
  • 📍 Courses near you
  • 🌤️ Weather
  • 🗺️ Course cards and information

Instead of opening 10 different course websites and booking platforms, the goal is to make it easy to discover a course, see what's available, compare your options, and decide where you want to play.

I'm still building and expanding the coverage, so I'd genuinely love some feedback.

If you golf in Canada, give it a try and let me know what you think.

Golf friends? 30F, Fort York / Liberty Village

I’m a 30F who’s pretty new to golf but already love it and really want to get good at it. It’d be way more fun with friends to learn and practice with!

I’m around Downtown / Fort York / Liberty Village and was wondering if there are any other women getting into golf who’d want to start a women’s golf group where we could go to different driving ranges, work on our technique, help each other out, and eventually play some casual rounds.

Maybe meet weekly or biweekly!

Could even be fun to document some of it on social media, but just an idea!

If you’re interested, message me and we can start a group

Looking to relocate

I currently live in golf course community in the Okanagan. I’m married, we are both 70. I’m sick of worry we go through every summer during wild fire season and I can’t take it anymore.

Where would you suggest we move to in Canada, away from the smoke. Looking to live near a good golf course. We’d like to avoid large cities. I’m open to all suggestions. Thanks

Canadian Golf Courses with Online Pro Shops?

Hey everyone! I’m currently looking for Canadian golf courses that have an online pro shop. I know Cabot has one, but I was wondering if there are any other courses that sell their merchandise online as well!

I played quite a few courses in BC, AB, ON, QC and NS and somehow always forget to buy a headcover 🤦‍♀️ I’m regretting it deeply now, so I’m trying to see if I can order one online.

Does anyone know of literally any Canadian golf courses with online pro shops where I might be able to find course-branded headcovers or other merchandise?

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks again!
