Canada Goose Generations Trade-In Program — Read This Before You Ship

Posting here to share my experience and help anyone considering using the Canada Goose Generations trade-in program before they make the same mistake I did.

Sent in my MacMillan Parka in excellent condition for trade-in. Was quoted $421 — received $357 with zero explanation beyond "minor pilling and minor fading."

Yes, they disclose that the final value may differ. But that assumes a fair and transparent assessment — which this was not.

After 3 emails asking for:

  • The criteria distinguishing "Excellent" vs "Very Good" condition
  • Photos from their inspection

I got nothing. Just the same vague assessment copy-pasted back to me three times across three different reps. They couldn't even get my jacket name right in one response.

No criteria. No photos. No accountability. Just a $90 deduction for wear their own team called minor.

The fine print exists to protect a flawed process, not the customer.

My recommendation: skip the Generations program entirely and sell your jacket elsewhere.

Purchasing coat in Canada and returning to US.

Has anyone purchased a coat from Canada Goose in Canada and had to pay duties when returning back to US? Looking to buy a new coat since it’s cheaper in Canada but unsure if I’m required to pay duties when entering the US. Entering by car.

Issue with new purchase

My husband was recently in Vancouver for the World Cup and bought a new jacket from the Canada Goose boutique. After he had chosen style and size the sales assistant then packaged a new one for him. He did not think to ask to see it first. He’s now travelling in the USA and when he went to wear it has noticed this. He has ripped off and thrown the tags but still has receipts. It appears he cannot do anything now that he is in the states. Any suggestions as to what he can do? He arrives in San Fran soon. We are from Australia (he was there for the Aussie game). Thank you.

Highly recommend visiting or calling your local Nordstrom this week- mine had Canada Goose on sale w/ additional 25% off

Online, none of their items are on sale, but in store my local Nordstrom had several styles on sale for about 25-35% off plus an additional 25% off on top of that. I didnt plan to buy anything today but all the styles I was eyeing down last year were on sale. I likely will return one though, couldnt make up my mind so I got these three:

I got a Chilliwack puffer for $670, Alberni reversible fleece bomber for I think $500 and a Sierra full zip for $370.
