DETROIT AXLE IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A COMPANY. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

If you are a DIY mechanic or just a normal person trying to fix your car, avoid Detroit Axle like the plague. I have been fighting these absolute clowns since April over a return, and I am convinced their entire customer service model is built on outright consumer fraud.
They will gladly take your money, but the second you need to make a return, the scam begins. I sent back a package that FedEx weighed and verified at exactly 45 pounds. Detroit Axle signed for it, somehow decided the heavy wheel bearings were magically "missing" from the box, and blamed me.
When I called them out on their bullshit and pointed out that FedEx tracking proves the exact weight of the box I dropped off, they actually tried to claim that FedEx scales don't matter and the physical weight on the label "isn't accurate." It is a blatant, calculated lie designed so they can steal from their customers and double-dip on their inventory.
And how do they handle it when you corner them with the facts? Like absolute cowards. Their reps will put you on hold, go dead silent, and just hang up the phone. When you finally get someone else, they double down on the lies and offer a pathetic "partial refund" that takes another five business days to process.
Detroit Axle is running a racket. They take advantage of hard-working people who just want to keep their vehicles safe on the road. They will keep your returned parts, they will keep your money, and they will lie to your face to get away with it.
Do not buy from them. Do not trust them. They will fuck you over and leave you holding the bag.

I made a Parts Advisor website with tools I needed anyways!

https://partsadvisortools.com/

I got a few useful tools on there I use daily!

- VIN decoder for basic vehicle info (Click Nato to get the last 8 of the VIN showing)

-Margin calculator, always useful when trying to adjust prices
- Tire resizing tool (My favorite, helps me know if sizes are compatible safely, most websites out there make it so hard to read)

-Nato Alphabet converter

And then just a general unit converter.

Any other tools I should add?

How much should I realistically expect to pay to replace a radiator in a heavy-duty construction vehicle?

I’m trying to get a realistic idea of radiator replacement costs for a heavy-duty construction vehicle, and the price range I’m seeing is all over the place. One mechanic gave me a rough estimate that sounded high, but then when I started checking parts separately, I realized the radiator itself is only one part of the whole cost.

From what I can tell, the final price depends on the vehicle model, radiator size, labor, coolant, hoses, possible fan damage, and whether the replacement is OEM or aftermarket. The tricky part is that some aftermarket heavy-duty vehicle parts and accessories look affordable at first, but I’m not sure how much quality varies between suppliers.

I checked local options and also looked on Alibaba because there are many heavy-duty radiator and construction vehicle parts suppliers there. Some prices looked much lower than local quotes, but I’m cautious because a radiator failure on a work vehicle can cause downtime that costs more than the part itself. A cheap part is not really cheap if the machine is stuck for several days.

I’m not looking for the absolute cheapest option, just something dependable without paying way more than necessary. For people who manage construction equipment or repair heavy-duty vehicles, do you usually go OEM, aftermarket, or rebuilt for radiators? And what would you consider a normal total replacement cost once labor and related parts are included?

Where to rid of classic car parts

My dad was a classic car collector/rebuilder (1930's to 1950's), and I'm currently working with a consignment dealer to sell his collection on BaT after he died. Now we're left with the spare parts he left behind...the cars were all complete, so what's left is stuff he didn't need or just picked up at swap meets over the years - all parts from 30's to 50's Fords/Olds. Pared down considerably as he got older, but still occupying plenty of space in a large garage.

We've had a couple car folks go through it and verify there doesn't seem to be anything particularly high value in there. We've put out a few feels through them, but haven't found anywhere to sell them. I live across the country from where the parts are stored and am not going to be listing things individually. I'm new to BaT/car hobby things, wondering if I'm missing something about how one could get rid of car parts as a single lot? Are these destined for a salvage yard??

$50 for full set oem rims and pair of OEM headlights.

Good condition, headlights just need bulb replacement they are dim. One rim is scuffed. I feel bad about tossing these away and figured this is the place to share parts.

Must pick them up. Korea Town, Los Angeles.

DM to schedule pick up at a walgreens.

I'll be in my element. 😎

Help Finding Car Part

Clipped a sign with my passenger side mirror while driving this winter and I was hoping to get it fixed, but when I called the dealership they said quoted almost $700CAD ($500USD) to get the new part in, and that doesn't even include the cost to get it replaced. That seems insane to me, especially since I can find similar parts on RockAuto for like $100 (see here). Unfortunately I can't seem to find my specific part through ANY other source online, just the dealership. Please help me locate this part somewhere, or at least explain to me why there are a thousand other similar parts out there but not the one I need! Part number is 76208-TBA-CO2-ZA (R, heated, power, no camera, no signal on a 2016 Honda Civic LX).

At this point, I might just leave it half-broken, because I've been fine all through the winter and into the summer now. I'm feeling a little defeated, and shelling out a grand to get this fixed is just too rich for my blood.

Need recommendation for replacing steering rack & pinion on 2012 Ford Fusion in Kitchener-Waterloo

Hi everyone,
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SE with electric power steering, and it looks like I need to replace the complete steering rack and pinion assembly.
I’m looking for recommendations in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for:
A trustworthy mechanic who can replace it at a fair price.
A good place to buy a new, remanufactured, or used steering rack.
What I should expect to pay for parts and labor.
Has anyone had this repair done locally? If so, where did you go, how much did it cost, and would you recommend the shop?
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What’s this catalytic converter worth?

Found this stuffed in the attic left by previous owner. Looked up the box and found a ram company that sells catalytic converter so I figured this was the old one and wanted to know if it was worth anything to sell, possibly on Facebook or something. Not sure what truck exactly it came off just know it’s a 4x4 dodge ram. If this is worth anything let me know if not I’ll put her back up in the attic for the next guy
