I have a 2017 lancer 2.0 ES, manual transmission. My right rear parking brake cable snapped and it seems more complicated to change than I thought. I can’t find any info or videos on how to do this so I’m kind of just trying to figure it out on my own. It seems that I need to remove the wheel hub assembly to have access to the cable connection, does this sound right?

As the title says I run an auto repair shop and we're busy and we stay booked.

But no-shows are killing me. People make appointments and don't show up. Indeed, they don't call to cancel. We're left with empty bays and we lose money.

I tried SMS reminders. It didn't help and people still forget. They still don't show up

I found DropCowboy and they have ringless voicemail, SMS, and automation workflows. You can set up a sequence: a voice reminder the day before the visit, then a text the morning of. They claim 5 to 20 times higher response rates

It sounds like it could reduce no shows. But I'm worried it might be too much. People already dislike reminders from service businesses. Would this just annoy them?

I don't want to be that shop that won't leave customers alone. But I also can't keep losing money on empty bays.

Has anyone used automated sequences to reduce no-shows? Does it actually work? Or does it just annoy people?

So I’ve had my car since February and it had a check engine light and hybrid system warning light and I took it to the dealership for service and they quoted me a hybrid battery cooling fan I ended up taking it back a few weeks later after ordering the part myself to get the part installed but when they called me they told me they installed the fan but that it needs an ecu and a 12v battery and that the car hasn’t been starting unless jumped they said it was 1,400 dollars for the parts and that they would have to order them but would install them without extra labor but I can’t afford those I don’t know what to do and my car has had no problems starting until they got it and said it had problems

So I’m (22f) a senior in college move in is August 19th 9am and my 2015 Buick encore told me this Friday I needed an oil change I didn’t have enough money at the time so I continued doing favor to make the additional money for college dorm room decor and my oil change I finally make enough and I find a good coupon on Groupon for 49.99$ full synthetic oil change ,tire rotation , filter change at Midas. I thought it was a good deal so ofc I call, the man tells me he’s gonna price match me don’t buy the Groupon okay cool!! I arrive at 9am the following day the guy whose doing my oil change isn’t there I wait an hour and 8 minutes exact for him to arrive at 10:08 they take my keys and by 10:44 am me and this gentleman in the waiting room hear a loud “BOOM” immediately we both stand up he’s peaking out the window and so am I ! The man at the desk walks out comes back inside and says to me there’s something really wrong with your car! I say “WHAT” I walk out with him to find my car has fallen off the rack ! It’s a total loss and I move into college tomorrow I’m not old enough to get a loaner so how do I go about this I’m so upset and hurt I even started my job today my very first shift on the clock since last march!!! And I can’t make it .

2017 chevy Spark LT 1.4L

Had some shaking at higher speeds and brought it in to get looked at. Was told the front struts and mounts as well as the rear shocks need replaced. Was quoted $1500 for parts and labor, is this a fair price? Was planning on ordering the parts on my own to save money, what would be a fair quote for the labor on a job like this?

Wondering how people think a dealership will handle this situation and if Im right to feel like I shouldnt have to replace a windshield on my loaner truck.

My truck was in the dealer shop for a fairly expensive repair that was under warranty. As they finished the repair and employee made a mistake and did some body damage to my truck. The dealership was upfront about it and they are taking care of the repairs at no cost for the body work, but because of this i had to keep their loaner truck so far for an extra week and a half and counting. The loaner truck is brand new. Like had 300 ish miles on it when they had me take it. As of 2 days ago we are past the quoted time frame they said my truck would be done by. Well now I just had a rock flip up and crack the windshield while driving the loaner on the free way. The crack is small and patchable but with it being a brand new truck im certain they’re going to expect a new windshield. Am I wrong to think I shouldnt have to pay for the windshield replacement in this situation? Anyone in the repair shop world have any thoughts on how they think the dealership will handle it? Im going to call them to go over this with them shortly when they open, just kinda trying to figure out where i might stand on this and what people think is fair.

I’m currently working on fixing up a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164 and having some issues with the gas tank. It’s been patched and repainted but the interior had a lot of rust as well. Before anyone asks, no I can’t find a replacement, I searched and called high and low throughout all of North America for months and came up empty handed.

I’ve soaked it for almost a week and the bulk of the rust is gone at this point. There is no more flaking off and a majority of the tank is completely rust free. The issue I’m having is with the top of the tank where the chemicals did not make contact while it was soaking. Fumes freed up the rust and I’ve been able to scrub a majority of it off but there is still some small stuff there. At this point the water comes out clean every time I rinse it out.

Frankly, it’s an Alfa that’s pushing 200k miles, it’s a fun project not a daily driver. I bought the car because I’ve always wanted to work on a Busso engine and the gas tank was just an unfortunate repair that went along with that. I expect to pull maybe 2 or 3 years of fun and maybe a few small road trips out of the car before the body is pretty much done for. I would like to keep the engine healthy because I have some friends with experience swapping engines and if the opportunity arises I would love to give the engine a new life in a different car.

I guess my main question is how much headache might this cause if I just call it a day where I am and toss the tank back in as is?
