2016 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN AWD 2.0L DOHC TURBO - Engine Misfire

Hi all, long time reader first time poster. I recently had repairs done for my 2016 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN AWD 2.0L DOHC TURBO for the Rear Main Seal & Timing Chain. However, after picking it up, I was still experiencing the rough idle on cold start and the check engine light was on. I brought it back and was informed it was due to carbon build up. Thinking it would be a cheap fix but came back with a >$2k repair (estimate attached) - does this seem fair? I am in the DC area (shop is in PG County). Is this something I could do myself with minimal car repair experience? Any and all advice is appreciated...

I scratched a colleagues car, should I expect to pay much?

Hello! So basically yesterday my door swung open and scratched my colleagues car. Luckily me and this person talk often so it’s not like I don’t know him however I know he’s precious about his car.

He says he’s taking it to the garage soon and will let me know how much it costs. Personally, only thing I’m worried about is getting ripped off since…well there’s not much you can actually notice about the scratch.

So….should I be worrying about a bit cash price or how should I play it and how much should someone be charging to get this out?

headlight issue

hello, so I’ve been having an issue with one of my headlights on my car. It’s a Honda Civic sport 2022 automatic. essentially I had no issues with the car when I got it last year then in my neighborhood I usually back in when I park someone overnight hit and ran my car and the headlight was out on the passenger side. I replaced the whole assembly because it was cracked and now I’m dealing with the driver side being out and I’m not sure why. I’ve taken it to all of two shops to see if I need to replace the whole assembly again ( which was really expensive) or if we can just take out the bulb and replace it. i’m not sure if I should trust what the shop says because at the top of the headlight when the signal is on the light is flickering when I put on my turn signal so I’m thinking it’s not completely out. this is my first car and I do keep up with the maintenance on it so I’m not sure as to why the headlights keep going out on either side. Everything is pretty much up-to-date in the car. I haven’t been in any accidents other than the hit-and-run in my neighborhood in the middle of the night. one morning since I work such early hours it didn’t turn on so I had to wait until the sun came up to start driving. idk if i have to fold just buy an aftermarket light and have them put it in for me and pay for labor (because I was told at whatever car place I went to that it would be over $2000 for the headlight assembly itself to buy it from Honda) in my opinion that’s just ridiculous for a headlight which is why I purchased an aftermarket headlight when the passenger side went out or I just buy a bulb and figure it out myself. i’ve been dealing with this for about three months just because I don’t know where else to go or what to do. Help would be very appreciated. Thank you. :)

2012 Toyota Camry. Screen damaged. Replace the whole thing or just replace the screen?

Transported some 2x4s and one of them hit the screen. I can still see all the images but the touch screen is completely not responsive. I’ve looked for replacements but decent ones are like 450$+. Would bring it to a dealership to replace the broken screen cost more(I know it probably will, but hey still worth asking)

Thank you for the input

How much does it cost to change a serpentine belt in Seattle?

I’ve asked a couple shops and they’re quoting 250-300. This is my first car and I’m not sure what’s the right pricing.

My skepticism comes from the fact that recent I changed my tire sensor for 35 bucks. But other shops were charging 150.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

How much should I start budgeting to get this fixed? Spark plug, ignition coil, premium intake gasket

2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4WD V6

FYI the odometer in that report is missing a zero, this car has 143,000 miles. Only code was P0306.

I really don’t want to spend too much on a car that’s barely worth $3k… I just spent $700 on an emergency coolant hose replacement (+ flush, oil, etc) which already felt like a damn robbery. Don’t judge, I had to tow it to the nearest autozone after engine started smoking on the highway… I try my best not to throw money away on repairs for this car.

Is this rust on body fixable? And who does this type of work?

I recently bought a project car at a unbelievable low price this day and age for its condition and the only real problem is this rust at the bottom of the door sill I am worried that will spread if I don’t stop it right away. I see it’s flaking and is on both sides of the car. It looks like work above my simple sand, prime and paint expertise so wondering the exact job title I should look for to contact on a restoration. Thanks for your input and help.

GMC Sonoma Body Damage

My first vehicle, 2000 GMC Sonoma, was wrecked earlier this year and I'm in the market to purchase a new one(1997-2004 GMC Sonoma or Chevy S10) but I was wondering if my current one is worth fixing. My local mechanic did a full work up on it and everything mechanically checks out including the frame. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me an insight on what it might cost to repair the body damage or what the bare minimum I should fix on the body.

Door edge scuff

My daughter opened my new car door in our carport and grazed the wood post. I know its really small but this is likely primer and not metal, right? Would this rust if I dont touch it up?

I think somebody bent my radiator fins… was it vandalism, an animal?

So today as I walked down towards my car, kept in a secure underground garage with key fob access only, I noticed from a distance my two front radiators were “shinier” than usual.

As I got closer I realised a lot of the fins were bent in the same direction, almost as if someone ran their fingers or a tool over them to bend them. I am 100% sure these weren’t like this on Sunday when I last used the car. These radiators are pretty new changed about 1.5 years ago when I bought the car. They did have some stone chips as usual, but not this.

Is this possible to happen on its own? I’m confused as to why someone would do this. As a grown man you’d need to be on your side on the floor to reach the spots at the top of the radiator and bend them like that.

I’m really annoyed as I was looking to sell the car soon, this seems like something I might need to replace or spend hours trying to bend these back.

I ran the car today and no issues keeping water temp at 90c, this was mostly motorway use.

I am waiting for the estate manager to release camera footage from the garage as my car is directly below camera. Still confused why someone would do this…

Any ideas as to how else this could have happened are welcome

How to temporarily fix this?

Hello everyone. My car's bumper has fallen off and I need a quick temporary fix it for right now. I popped it back into place but it falls off again after driving for a day. Maybe some of the locks are broken. Do you guys know if I can fix this myself somehow? Or how a auto body shop would fix this? Tight on budget so I can't afford a expensive fix. Thanks in advance!

Front Bumper Dented

I have no idea when this happened and if I did it or someone/something hit me. Can it be fixed/is it worth the cost?

High Beam light fades in then out

My high beam fades in and out on my 2007 Chevrolet Aveo LT. These aren't related but here's the error codes anyway:

P0340 (failure in camshaft position sensor circuit)

P0420 (Catalytic Converter efficiency below threshold)

I've checked the alternator and battery (reading ~12.5v when not on, ~14.0v under acceleration and ~13.5v at idle)

I've also checked my high beam bulbs as well as their associated fuses, they are fine.

Any ideas? Edit: the high beam lights aren't on, it's just the indicator as far as I can tell.

Repair or Replace?

Have a screw on the side of the tire as you can see..... can this be repaired or does the tire have to be replaced because of where it is and breaks the integrity?

Thanks in advance!

Writing estimates for cars that are likely to be totaled

Do body shops or collision centers hate it when someone brings a car for an estimate but you could tell by looking ti will likely be totaled? Because they are not getting any estimates.
