Good way to find someone?

I'm 19 and I'm struggling to find any friends or a partner. I do not know where to find other people without going out to drink which I can not legally do nor do I have any interest in it even if I could. I have seen others recommend "doing your hobby and you'll find someone" but how am I supposed to do that when my hobby involves aquariums? Any advice would be great thanks.

Good place to move near Carmel

Hi everyone, looking to find a 1bed/1bath or studio apartment that doesn’t break the bank near Carmel. So anywhere in Fishers, Noblesville works. Any suggestions?
My budget is around $1200ish but the cheaper the better. I heard some new builds also offer free WiFi and other stuff as well as attached garage. That would be great since I want to use my charger to charge my EV

Mira Pest Control

We’ve had a sales rep (the usual summer college intern riding a scooter type) come to our house a few times now about pest control. It’s door to door, sometimes multiple times an evening. Is there any way to keep them from disrupting our family schedule? I caught the guy taking pictures of our house just now, which is frankly creepy.

Anyone got any explanation how this SUV drove halfway up the wall at 101

Legitimately baffled, because just logistically I don't see how you get it at that angle from anywhere on the roundabout.

Moving from Chicago..Is $400K realistic for new construction?

Hey everyone, my family is planning a move from the Chicago suburbs to the Hamilton County area and we're trying to figure out if our expectations are realistic before we go too deep into this.

We're looking at somewhere between $350K to $450K, ideally new construction or something 1-2 years old, around 2,000 to 2,500 sqft. Townhouse or small single family, doesn't matter much as long as it's 2 storey. We have a young kid so schools are important, which is why we're focusing on Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield.

Back in Chicago we've seen a lot of Pulte and M/I Homes communities and we like what they build, so we'd love to stick with one of them if they're active over there. Are they building in those areas? Anyone bought with either of them recently in Hamilton County?

Also one thing we genuinely don't know — are basements common in Indiana? Here in IL almost every home has one so we kind of just assume it, but a friend told us it varies depending on where you go in the midwest.

Any advice from people who've gone through this recently would mean a lot. We don't know many people in Indy and just trying to figure this out without making a mistake on something this big. Thanks!

Seeking Reputable Gun Stores on north side - FFL shipping multiple items

I have moved from here to Texas, and I own several guns. I will be shipping them from here to myself. Does anyone have any recommendations on stores that charge a reasonable rate and have a good reputation?

To be clear, I own these guns. I don’t want to drive them back to Texas myself, and I’d rather not take them through the airport.

They are not monetarily valuable, but a couple of them are family heirlooms/antiques so I want to make sure I use someone reliable.

Relocating to Carmel, IN from Lex, KY

So me and my buddy just landed a job in Carmel, IN. We are supposed to start in July, and we have no clue where to look for apartments. We are planning to get a 2bed2bath together. We do have a budget of around $1500-$1600 a month, but we are mainly looking for a nice neighborhood and a safe place that is close to Carmel since that is where our office is going to be. We looked into some apartments like Riverbend apartments and heard many terrible things about that place.

I’m a Physician in Indiana. Political Stress Is Wrecking Our Mental and Physical Health.

As a physician in Indiana, I’m seeing something new in clinic: patients consumed by political stress to the point that it’s affecting sleep, anxiety, blood pressure, and focus.

I wrote about how nonstop outrage cycles, social media, and political conflict are becoming a legitimate public health issue. Curious if others are noticing the same thing in their own lives or workplaces.

Relocating to the area. Appreciate the help!

Hey everyone! We're relocating from Chicago to the Fishers area in the next couple months – my office will be in Carmel, IN so trying to stay somewhat close to that corridor.

Looking for some honest, locals-only advice since the internet gives you the same 5 apartment complex ads every time lol.

**Townhomes:** Ideally a short-term lease, somewhere in the 3–6 month range while we get our bearings and figure out where we actually want to settle. Budget is around $2,200/mo max for a 2BR. Any complexes you've actually lived in or heard good things about? Trying to avoid the ones that look great on photos but the management is a nightmare.

**Groceries:** Having a Costco and a decent Indian grocery store within reasonable distance would be a huge plus for us. Are there any pockets of Fishers/Carmel that check both boxes?

**Daycare:** This is probably the most important one – we have a 4-year-old and finding a good daycare/preschool is top priority. Any recs in the Fishers or Carmel area? And what's the ballpark monthly cost these days? Chicago prices have spoiled/traumatized us so genuinely don't know what to expect.

Any advice appreciated – even the "avoid this place" kind. Thanks in advance!

Classic Cakes?

I saw some posts that people thought they were closing a year ago and the new owner was sick but now I am seeing she no longer owns it. They seem to be open and more active on Facebook and I have a birthday coming up, anyone have feedback? Is there a new owner? I really hope things have settled and back to how it used to be.

Found dog near Holland Park - Sunblest neighborhood

If anyone is missing a small poodle mix (malti-poo?) near Holland Park around May 13th, I found it and took it to the Hamilton Humane Society/SPCA near 106th and Hague.

I’m unsure on gender (think it was female). It came to my front door this afternoon. It’s a sweetheart and didn’t seem like a stray but I didn’t think it was from my street and it didn’t have a collar. SPCA said it was chipped, but couldn’t find any details in the database. I went walking through the neighborhood this evening but didn’t see any posters or anyone who was looking for a lost dog. I also posted this with a few of the lost dog websites/Facebook. I’m not super active on social media, but I’ll try and check Nextdoor tomorrow.

I feel bad leaving it at the shelter, but when it showed up I kept thinking that if one of our dogs went missing the shelter would be the first place I would check. I might follow up tomorrow and offer to house the dog until I can find its owner

Hey Des Moines my Midwest made movie "Winter Hymns" is coming to you for a limited engagement at Flix Brewhouse May 17-20

Hi Des Moines, I'm a filmmaker from Wisconsin very interested in making movies right here in the Midwest. "Winter Hymns" is about a palliative care doctor meeting with dying patients and is based on my dad's work. It's been doing really well in Wisconsin so Flix decided to expand it to neighboring states - I'm especially excited about Iowa because my mom's from Elkader and my whole side of the family is there.

It was shot in WI and the entire cast is from the Midwest. I think there's a lot of familiar characters you'll see in this movie that are in both our states - farmers being bought out by giant corporations, young people struggling to raise a family (while also having a terminal illness...). It's a heavy film but so far people have been digging it and I hope you do too! Tickets are at the Flix website.

Does Republic still collect yard waste bundles?

I cut a ton of honeysuckle over the weekend and bundled it. Last year it got picked up on trash day. They didn't take a single one of mine yesterday. Are they not doing it anymore? Did I mess up the bundles somehow?

Good day Carmelians, Carmelites? I had appalling care through St. V's and I wanted to ask, without sharing a ton about my situation. But has anyone successfully sued St. V's for medical malpractice, negligence or patient abandonment? I'm looking for a lawyer and would like to hear from anyone who may have been in a similar situation or experienced bad care from them? I checked my case Indiana and there a tons of lawsuits. So looking to chat with anyone who might have taken them to court and won.
