Hey neighbors! I am from McCordsville and have to be over towards Keystone/31 for a doctors appointment tomorrow morning. However I have a teams call for work at 9:30 AM. I called the library and they do have rooms but it's first come first serve, and I don't have a caramel library card. I'm just looking for suggestions in that area (Greyhound Pass) which might offer a decently quiet space with Wi-Fi. I've hunted around on Google but I figured people who live there might know best.

Love my current apartment but my neighbors are insanely unbearable and unresponsive to noise or weed complaints - the entire complex just doesn't feel safe anymore. Someone pulled a taser on my partner in the middle of the day yesterday in a hallway and I don't blame them tbh. Looking to move but a lot of the apartments in Carmel seem very old and dark and sad. Fairplay seems to have many more windows but is also a bit dated. Does anyone have any recommendations for 1 bedrooms? Unfortunately am a seasonal big sads person and hoping for lots of sunlight + safety.

I just moved to Carmel. My partner moved here a few months ago for work. We got our apartment without ever visiting. Now that I’m here I feel like I’m too poor for this city. Everything is so upscale and family oriented (from what I’ve seen). Where do the “normal” people hang out?? We’re early 30s and have a dog. No kids. He’s big into video games and I’m into reading (book club, anyone??). I work from home so I’m hoping to find some places I can hangout at so I can get out of the house a bit.

Also, any favorite ON LEASH dog parks? My dog is selective and in our old city no one kept their dogs on leash - even in mandated areas.

A few people are already in there, and I’m hoping this makes it much easier to actually turn the idea into movie nights instead of trying to wrangle everyone through Reddit messages.

The format is intentionally pretty loose: someone suggests a movie, we pick a showing, and whoever can make it joins. Maybe drinks or food afterward to talk about it. No expectation that everyone makes every meetup.

There are channels for introductions, movie suggestions, and actual plans, and I’d love for other people to throw out movies they want to see too.

What are the prospects that the Carmel sewage treatment plant will flood and we will have to cut water usage? What about the drinking water treatment plant?

Hey everyone! I'm an urbanist who currently lives in a middle of nowhere suburban sprawl town in South Carolina, and I plan on moving closer to the city I'm nearby to have a more walkable and urban lifestyle in a couple of years. Unfortunately the city does have its shortcomings, and from an urbanist POV, isn't the top of what I'd consider satisfactory.

But I've been watching a lot of videos about Carmel, its story, and what it's current and future infrastructure and urban planning is looking like. I've been teetering on the idea of giving Carmel a visit to see if it is right for my girlfriend and I...

However a lot of what I've seen says that Carmel is best for families, and my girlfriend and I don't plan on ever having a family. So I'm wondering if it is still worth taking that visit and potentially moving forward with making a move? I'd appreciate any input from single people or childless couples in the area. Thanks a ton!

We’re taking a trip to Mexico in a few months & the area we’re going to supposedly I’m not thrilled about using my credit card a lot while there or ATM machines.

I’m thinking it might be best to convert $$$ to pesos here locally prior to traveling. Any thoughts on this?

Is anyone else experiencing 1991-era slow internet in Carmel? I'm looking for information on their support site, but not seeing anything yet.

Curious if there are any other film people around Carmel who’d be interested in putting together a casual movie meetup.

Nothing overly organized or “film club” serious — more like picking a movie every couple weeks, meeting up to see it, and maybe grabbing a drink or food afterward to talk about it. New releases, indie stuff, classics when they’re playing somewhere nearby, whatever seems interesting.
I love going to movies, but it’s one of those things that’s just better when you have people to talk about it with afterward.

If there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to get a small group/chat going and figure it out from there. Landmark Keystone Arts Cinema, Flix, Kan-Kan, IMAX Indiana State Museum - we have options. I’m thinking once a month minimum, maybe 2x/month. And doesn’t have to hinge on my involvement, but I’ll spearhead it.

Hi neighbors! We're just up the road in Westfield. My husband has been collecting retro video games for years, and we've decided to try turning his hobby (and slightly ridiculous knowledge of old game prices 😂) into a small side project.

We're looking to buy old games, consoles, controllers, handhelds, or entire collections from people around Carmel and Hamilton County.

Nintendo, SNES, N64, GameCube, Game Boy, DS, Sega, PlayStation, Xbox, etc. We're interested in newer stuff too, and things don't necessarily need to be tested or cleaned up first.

If you have an old console or a box of games that's been living in a closet, basement, or your kids' old bedroom for the last 15 years, feel free to send me a message with a few pictures. We can come to Carmel, so you don't need to bring anything to us.

We're not looking for anyone to give away valuable games for pennies. We're hoping to find some local collections, make fair offers, and see where this little experiment goes. 🙂

Hey everyone! We live in the Seattle area and are potentially moving to the area, most likely to Carmel for a job, (no commute though), and had some questions about the area.

Being from the Northwest, we aren't used to crazy weather. No tornadoes or anything like that. How bad is it in Carmel? I saw a news story today from another part of Indiana saying a house blew up from the wind and a tree fell on another house and killed a boy. I was excited to move there until I read that and it freaked me out.

What's realistic in the Carmel area in terms of how often do you have storms where you are white knuckling hoping a tree doesn't fall on the house? How often do you guys get tornadoes as well?

Maybe the stories are overblown but I thought I'd check with people that live there lol. Occasional wind storms are fine, we get them here too, but tornadoes or wind that brings trees down on houses every month sounds brutal.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this as we just aren't familiar enough with the area. And to be specific, we would be moving to the Carmel/Fisher's area, which I've hear amazing things about, it's just the weather stuff that is a little scary to hear about!

As my family and i look into moving to Carmel in the coming years before our little one starts school, we’re wondering if CCS has made any changes to the 1:1 computer policies this year. I saw posts a couple months ago but wondering if anyone has any insight. We really think screens are detrimental to learning and want to avoid at all costs, and are wondering if it’s even worth moving to Carmel if we could just stay in Indy and send the kiddo to private school. Any thoughts appreciated!
