Has anyone seen any reports on how strong the winds were during the storm Tuesday afternoon? I sustained some fence and garage damage and am curious. I was in my house at the time and it sure was whistling and whipping through my backyard!
I saw one article from before the storm that predicted gusts of up to 50 mph but I’m wondering what was actually logged!
The Frisco Chamber runoff forum between Mark Hill and Rod Vilhauer became one of the sharpest exchanges of the race so far. The discussion moved far beyond traffic and development and into debates over Sharia law, campaign rhetoric, public safety and the political direction of the city.

If you’re unfamiliar with “urbanism,” it's how inhabitants of urban areas, such as towns and cities, interact with the built environment. Positive urbanism inherently supports public transit and mixed use zoning, with an emphasis on making it easier to do everyday errands without needing a vehicle.
As a native Dallasite, I’ve noticed that there is quite a lack of this kind of infrastructure outside of very few places, which is crazy given the population size.
This doesn't apply to just DFW, but I’m working on a campaign to get local officials involved in supporting this kind of legislation forward. One small step in that is furthering the Build More Housing Near Transit Act. August is coming up, and if you want to get more involved in local politics, this is a great starting point.

Hi! Lifelong North Texas resident with a need to expand my friend circle. I realize I'm in a rut and seem to have lost myself along the way. The people around me have become my friends by default even if our personalities don't mesh and sometimes they're not even very nice people. Several years ago, I had several friends I saw daily or at least every few days. We went on short day trips on the weekends, wine bars or happy hours during the week, photography walks, restaurants, sometimes just random places that looked interesting up ahead while driving. Over the years, most have moved away and / or gotten married.
I need to laugh again and find people that "get" my sarcastic sense of humor and interest in getting out and trying new things (within reason, lol.) Any suggestions on where people go to meet new people? My favorite "happy places" used to be wineries and wine bars to sit at for happy hour and there is just nothing like that in the area.

Look out for this strange man! This guy driving what I believe to be a white Chevy Equinox with an orange stripe down the passenger side (visible in last pic, far left side).
Long story short, after following me around the store and waiting until I finished checking out, he intended to wait and walk out of the store with me after a couple strange encounters inside the store. I did NOT engage this man, and instead flagged over an employee who then escorted me out of the store with the manager. He did not start walking to his car until I walked past him. (He also might have been filming me.) *This happened at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Old Denton on Tuesday at 5pm.
Ladies, girls, vulnerable individuals! Please, listen to your gut instincts and be so aware of your surroundings. It’s sad that women have to be so vigilant even when grocery shopping in their town.
BIG KUDOS to the Walmart employees who immediately helped me, knew what to do, and watched me drive away. I could go on and on about these two guys who helped me so fast when I sadly froze and didn’t know what to do.
Let's get it out of the way for the pedantic out there: cooking at home will always be the cheaper option. Sometimes, though, you don't want to cook. It's been a busy day, or you ruin dinner, or you are just not feeling it. Let's not go there, that's not what this is about.

Bonus Tip:
If you've never had an avocado smoothie, try it. It doesn't taste like avocado, but it's very very filling.

For around $25, you get a whole roasted chicken marinated in killer spices and falling off the bone tender, a pile of fries, and sauce. Beyond the cheap option I'm posting this for, their other food is great too. The beef heart skewers are done in a fantastic marinade and then grilled.
Note, if you get them delivered, their fries tend to be a little unsalted and undercooked. If you crisp them up (I've deep fried and air fried) and hit with salt, they're great. Haven't had this happen when eating in the restaurant, but it's universal delivered so I almost wonder if they mean for you to do that...?
I'm all ears if folks have other options!

I am looking to do some outdoors workouts, but Carrollton does not seem to have much outdoors workout equipment like Flower Mound, Colony, or Addison. Any tips are appreciated! Even if they are not necessarily pull up bars, but can be used the same way, I am interested lol

Hii does anyone know any good car mechanics in the Carrollton/north Dallas area. Students across Collin County were locked out of Canvas Thursday, which likely includes many in Frisco ISD since the district relies on the platform for assignments, grades, and communication.
That means no submitting work, no checking grades, and limited ways to contact teachers—right as finals approach.
Allen ISD confirmed a cybersecurity incident tied to Canvas. Frisco hasn’t issued a public statement yet, but the system is widely used across the area.
