Has anyone tried playing with the printable files on the Kickstarter?

I’ve played a few rounds and the game seems like it has legs. A couple ppl from mtg pod played it with me and they actually liked it more than I dared hope. I had a couple questions for anyone who knows: is the 14 card +1 boss deck the default game mode? When I think about making a constructed deck (40 cards, 2 factions max, no more than 3 copies of any card) I feel like I can see some super broken synergies. Like Gizzard for example. Just wondering what people’s feelings are in general so far about the actual gameplay

Cataclysm Arcade's Kickstarter boosters do NOT include the full first set. This is being hidden in the FAQ rather than addressed on the KS's main page.

If your goal is to complete the first set through the Kickstarter alone, you can't.

You'll need to buy more at retail later. Worth knowing before you decide which tier to pledge since they're not being up front about this.

The Kickstarter Founders' Edition does not contain the full first set. The complete "Crawling from the Wreckage" set going to retail is reportedly 240 mechanically unique cards, but the KS boxes cover only ~155 of them. Similarly, the Founders' Edition includes 12 bosses, while the full first set has 25. The remaining 13 arrive with a later retail Edition.

This is intentional. Per collaborator responses in the comments, the first set is finished but they're releasing it as a staged sequence of Editions for "narrative reasons," and partly "to drive players to local game stores at retail launch." The only real incentive to Kickstart is exclusive alternate art and card treatments. Do not kickstart expecting to complete the set.

Updated Kickstarter Price Breakdown.

This is based on "Level" not "Tier".

Does not factor the sliding scale of postage, which can be a real humdinger if you check your rate.

Holding packs at $5.83 ($140/24). Following discussions and feedback, the KS Exclusive Boss 4-Pack is now $10 instead of $5. To increase the value of Level 1 so it's not just 4 packs at standard.

Kickstarter Founder Packs have been updated from $20 to $25, due to rarity, the fact it's 4 cards not 1-2 and akin to an MTG Box Topper.

Also, as per previous update, EVERY box ordered before 6th June gets the 4 booster pack bonus, not just your first box. So the bigger levels have been updated.

Prices and "value" do not factor Stretch Goals, as there is still some ambiguity with which levels have exclusive stretch goals and which ones get what.

Level 1 and 2 are modelled with a Box Add on at $140 so that each level has at least 1x Box.

Happy to listen to thoughts and feedback.

What's Best Bang For Buck On Kickstarter?

Level 1. 4 packs (quarter box) $25 (plus four bonus cards thay Lv3 and above DON'T get). So $6.25/pack. So a box/24, would be $150. Confirmed as an add on for $140, small saving offered. OK.

Level 2. 12 packs ("worth" $75). Plus a Playmat ("worth" $30), plus the cool four bonus cards, $99 (and you can add on a box for $140 as mentioned to get 24 more packs AND 1x Founder Pack).

Level 3. A box, 24 packs ($140) plus 4 bonus packs of early enough ($25), plus two playmats - - $195. So the playmats are valued at $25-$30 each. Unless you get the early "before 6th" June +4 boosters. You get 28 packs for $195 (and two playmats if that's what you're into for value).

So if you don't think a Playmat is worth an additional $20-$30, then surely the wise money is Level 1 with a box bolt on. $25+$140=$165. For that you get 28 packs (4+24) *not* a box plus four (you're buying 4 and bolting on 24). Plus the four collector edition alt arts.

Or, pay $30 more, sacrifice the 4 cards, and you get some playmats.

The only defining factor is the stretch goals. From my understanding, each level has access to a different stretch goal (?) So if you're at a higher level, you get better stuff (but have no idea about this).

Does anyone else have any ideas or views on value, worth, "best deal" to get bang for buck. Especially if you have no interest in deck boxes, playmats, etc. Just looking to get cards, play cards, build decks...

Even More Value Town...

Based on a box being $140, a pack is therefore (140/24) $5.83

The four bonus art cards need to have a worth/value, call it five bucks.

The Founder Edition Prize Packs, I think maybe too cheap in my estimate, called that a $10 pack. (Is it a single card in those packs?)

Playmats are $27.50 each (Box plus 2 mats is $195).

So a Level 1 with a Box Bolt On (ordered before 6th June) seems to give the most value. 32 packs for $165 with a founder bonus that comes with each box of ordered early enough plus the Boss Cards.

The Box Level (3) gets less packs in total, plus playmats, for $30 more, and no exclusive Boss Cards.

Curious about Pack Tracking

From what I understand the packs are tracked in a way that designs them to be playable with a single booster. This is amazing! A huge pull to the game is this exciting and accesible format. IF the displays go for 195, then that puts each pack at a little over 8 bucks (a baseline assumption based on the cost of the previewed tier 4 kockstarter having a smdisplay, then of course you would deduct cost of the bonus goodies in the tier.) On the other hand, the 5 dollar packs that were for the early bird order campaign puts the game at playable with just 10 bucks ($5 a pack). That is all very nice! So, the question I have is:

Tl;dr- How are the maps packed? What would be a good way to make a cube for this game with the one pack format in mind?

Continued: There is 1 out of 15 cards as a leader. Tokens exist (the Head Rat is a token). There are Punch out dice. So, that is (if my asumption correct) 12 cards left for fighters and weapons of various levels, and some responses/tactics at various token costs. There is a range of 1-6 (with some even higher at 7) level fighters. I'd love to know what the ranges of the levels tend to be for a pack to have little card pools for a 1 booster cube.

Seeya, Later Gator

Been sitting on this guy. Kinda hard to see a meta where Seeya doesn't matter with their free peek and possible extra draw per turn? Lots of love for Seeya in the early community. I'm torn on which Boss stands out over the rest.

I am sure Bleargh is inevitable.

Richoom, wrappin on a Friday. Cheers! 🍻

Luck, The Hammer

Luck hasn't landed in the Card Data online but he's def in my thoughts. The attack cost is steep but playing a "spell heavy" deck makes him kinda terrifying...nevermind the threat of every card revealed.

Good news is your opponent will know exactly when to scoop. Lol
