I know some will disagree with my Catwoman but i'm tired to see her walking around the pot if she needs to be with Bruce, so here's mine of a sane cou

*Sane couple

I give a brief glimpse of my own vision of the notes of my fanfic, who is not full written, it goes hand in hand with Selina's evolution, which is quite unique and personal so don't take it personally :

When Bruce becomes Batman at 30 and his first adventure pits him against Falcone, the Penguin, and Magpie (inspired by the version in *Beware the Batman* where she's also a psychotic killer), and he meets Catwoman (25 years old) who lives in the Narrows, stealing from innocent people while remaining suspicious of them, but who protects Holly Robinson (13), Selina steals a valuable jewel from an innocent jewelry store, unaware that the store belonged to the Penguin, who then hires Magpie to retrieve it. After a confrontation, and as Bruce and Selina's relationship develops, Magpie learns Selina's true identity. To emotionally weaken her, she decides to kill Holly, which devastates Selina and drives her into a vengeful rage. However, during the climax, when the Penguin is defeated and his empire destroyed, Selina tries to kill Magpie. Batman convinces her not to, explaining that she would spiral downward and that he cares for her because he loves her. Selina refuses and instead offers Magpie to the police as a sign of peace. Magpie is then sent to Arkham Asylum.

Batman makes her understand that killing criminals and robbing innocent people isn't the solution, and Selina decides to stop stealing from innocent people and start stealing from criminals to serve the police and justice system (she steals incriminating documents, gathers evidence of corruption, steals a mafia registry, steals terrorist plans, and infiltrates a criminal network to obtain information. She plans her operations carefully, communicating with the Bat-Family and considering the consequences). She thus becomes one of the first founding members of the Bat-Family, developing a healthy relationship with Bruce. Initially, she spends a lot of time at Wayne Manor, but Bruce buys her an apartment on the top floor of a renovated Art Deco building in a safer, more modest neighborhood.

Then, a few months later, Dick (10) arrives, witnessing his parents' deaths in a trapeze accident caused by Tony Zucco. Bruce and Selina, in plain clothes in the audience, welcome Dick, following Selina's advice, knowing she doesn't want to see another child follow a terrible path like Holly. Bruce, as usual, becomes the father figure, and Selina becomes a surrogate mother to Dick, being more present for him when Bruce isn't there. Bruce then realizes the danger posed by Zucco, who has since disappeared. Dick runs away to find Zucco, and Batman and Catwoman rescue him and reveal their identities. Bruce and Selina initially decide that Dick will mostly live his life independently and that, in smaller amounts of time, he will train to become Robin.

The following year, Batgirl (13) appears, still grieving the death of her mother from cancer, but finding her footing again thanks to Catwoman, who acts as a big sister to her.

The following year, Dick (12) becomes Robin and reunites with Tony Zucco, but, influenced by Batman's wisdom, Catwoman's warmth, and Batgirl's clear-headedness (14), doesn't kill him. He turns Zucco over to the police, and Robin becomes the heart of the Bat-Family, enjoying a sweet and innocent romance with Barbara. Dick's humor and kindness bring a genuine smile back to her face. Selina becomes a ballet teacher, instructing children and teenagers, and even participates in charitable work for underprivileged children. The four of them become a Bat-Family

[Fan Art] Madame Selina Kyle (by @ryham007/me)

Finally finished Batman Telltale Series, and the ending wrapped everything up well, except for one thing i feel empty about:Catwoman

having played both seasons continuously,i was extremely invested in the Bruce and Selina storyline,as soon as i saw her in S2 i was ECSTATIC, unfortunately i made the mistake of assuming i could keep the Pact from killing everyone on the Spa AND maintain a good relationship with Selina,so after beating the game once i went back to episode 3 and chose to throw myself under the bus instead, thinking that changed jack shit but, come to find nope, even freeing her from Amandas collar didnt provide a better ending for her and she just kind of....... disappeared seemingly soon after

that revelation has disappointed me so greatly im STILL not over it,why would they do this to her after building her up from S1,are they stupid?

Catwoman depicted nicely everywhere except on main?

I'm writing just after having read #1 of Batman & Robin Year One: Dynamic Duos by Mark Waid (which I enjoyed A LOT). I'm this huge Catwoman stan, but I have to say I haven't been wowed by the Catwoman comics for a long time, and neither by how she was portrayed in mainline Batman since 2020. Recently, though, she popped up in lots of side-quest comics in important roles and I enjoyed that a lot. Be it her cameos in Poison Ivy or Batman/Superman, her larger parts in Sirens: Love Hurts, Batman/Wonder Woman: Truth, the dream sequence in Detective Comics and now Batman & Robin, I feel Selina is getting more love by writers outside of the main comics than her own series and (so far, I'm still hoping) mainline Batman? Why is that?

Let's discuss Catwoman Defiant! (1992)

What does everyone think of this story?

I've read this story three times now, most recently via the DC Finest edition. I don't think it's a particularly important story in the history of either Catwoman or Batman, but there's something that keeps drawing me back to its mood.

First of all there's the cover. I think Brian Stelfreeze is a good artist -- I especially like his covers during the Knightquest era & his work on Black Panther -- but I can see why this cover is polarizing (which is why I chose not to make it the first slide of this post). It's a bit of a shame it's the first thing a buyer or reader would see, because it's nothing like the interior art by Tom Grindberg & Dick Giordano, which has a less stylized, more traditional Bronze Age feel to it. Catwoman wears her gray Year One / Her Sister's Keeper costume & it's drawn well here.

I really enjoy the way the story opens with a wordless sequence of "Mr. Handsome" destroying items from a priceless art collection. I think Handsome & his gang are introduced well in the first few pages.

Peter Milligan's writing shines most for me in the dialogue between Bat & Cat. He really nails their banter for this era of the characters.

The most disturbing moment in the book is when Graven & another Handsome Gang member bring a presumably stray dog down the elevator to feed to "the beast". Made me feel like I should've checked "Does the Dog Die" before reading. I know this is CATwoman & all but that was emotionally cruel.

For whatever reason the underground maze where the beast lives captures my imagination. Catwoman meeting the disfigured woman down there & then climbing out back-to-back is a great sequence.

The twist that wraps the story up & really spells out its themes for the reader might be a hit heavy-handed, but I don't really mind. It reminds me of O'Neil, Robbins, or Conway tales of the 70s with a mysterious creature & a psychologically damaged villain. It might be overly tropey that the beast came from some Filipino guy in a game of poker, but such is the nature of old pulpy comics. And whatever flaws the story has, Catwoman's attitude shines through brightly & I love that she beats Batman to solving the case at basically every turn.

I think this story, with a few script tweaks, would've made a great episode of Batman the Animated Series. It hits all the hallmarks of moody atmosphere, creepy mystery, & a sad villain backstory. Alternatively it could also work well adapted to the style of Batman: The Caped Crusader, or as one of DC's standalone movie projects. It could be neat to see it combined with Her Sister's Keeper as some kind of "Early Adventures of Catwoman" / Gray Suit Era animated project.

Also pictured above is my double-sided Catwoman Defiant bookmark, which I randomly found in a used TPB I bought. This book had something of a sister book called Penguin Triumphant (by John Ostrander, Joe Staton, & Bob Smith), both published to coincide with the release of Batman Returns. For some reason I haven't gotten around to reading the Penguin book yet.

Still waiting for the trades to either confirm or deny the rumors of the show pitches today, but a Catwoman HBO show to me is the most obvious spinoff I thought we were getting since the first film…if The Penguin S2 is in limbo maybe Lauren LeFranc can write Catwoman.

Is Ann Nocenti Catwoman good?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the handful of stories I’ve read by Ann, but the internet seemed pretty down on this one. How was it?
