For those who hyphenated their last name after marriage — was it worth it?

Hi! For those who hyphenated their last name after getting married, how has it been for you?

I'm mainly wondering about the practical side of things:

- Did it make processing visas, passports, or other documents harder since your last name is different from your husband and kids?

- Was it ever an issue for your kids' school enrollment?

- Any problems when travelling as a family?

I've been reading online and some people say certain government agencies tend to ask for more documents when your name is hyphenated. Others mention that errors during the name change process can cause issues down the line.

Would love to hear real experiences from people who've actually gone through it. Or am I just overthinking this? 😅

**Edit:**

For context, I'm Filipino living abroad so I'm also thinking about how it affects PH document processing on top of everything else

Spectacular Events - Xian Repunte

Hi i just want to share our experience with him last year. We had a nice wedding overall, just a few points which could have been better but it was good.

Dugay mo reply, as in dugay. Can be few days to 10days, dili pa gyud mo answer sa calls and text then after awhile mo comment ra sa GC na wala siya gi daganan. It was hell honestly, the anxiety we had na sakit nako, imagine naka bayad namo pero dili gihapon ka tarungon ug reply, no respect to the agreement unlimited online consultation pa kuno. After our full payment wala gihapon tarong reply and takes him daysss before mo respond. Then on the day mura rag wala no apologies, nothing.

The outcome is not worth the anxiety, definitely i would NEVER recommend to any bride or groom. The journey in planning is not enjoyable, he has no heart making your day special. Its just a business transaction for him.

Wedding Budget

Hello, everyone! I'm a silent lurker around here for my future wedding inspo rin sad. I'm still single as of now, F 25 / From Cebu, currently in abroad for university. But as early as now I want to know how you guys handle the budgeting in terms of the whole wedding prep, in order also for me to prepare for my own in the future.

This might be a bit of sensitive topic for some since it includes money, but how do you guys pay for the wedding? I know some might have "savings" for it, maybe others took out loans? Or maybe the in-laws paying for the wedding? Is it also 50-50 between the bride and the groom? Weddings nowadays are expensive na rin kasi. I admire everyone here for achieving their dream wedding despite the cost. Congratulations din to everyone! ❤️. I'm really just curious how you guys did it para na rin ma ready ko ang self ko for the future cost and savings amount I need to prepare. 😄

Thank you!~

advice plssss

Hi everyone! 👋
My fiancé and I are thinking of having wedding in Cebu and would love some advice from couples who have done it before. We are from the US!

We’re currently considering Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu and are estimating around 60 guests flying in internationally.
Our tentative budget is around $20K–$25K USD total.
Guests would pay for their own flight + accommodations! Hoping to tour the venue sometime in August!! 🤭

A few questions:
• For those who got married at Shangri-La, were there any hidden/additional costs we should prepare for?

• The wedding packages have a lot of add-ons (bands, acoustic singers, MC/host, lights, etc.) — which upgrades were actually worth it? Any you regret spending on? Did you book through the hotel?

• Any recommendations for good florists in Cebu? We want something elegant/simple but still beautiful. How much did you spend on florals for around 60 guests?

• Did you hire a full wedding coordinator/planner even with the hotel package?

• Any advice specifically for planning from abroad?

Ideally, I would prefer a one-stop shop for vendors just to be stress-free (as can be while wedding planning lol)

Would also love any general tips, vendor recommendations, budgeting advice, or things you wish you knew before booking 🙏
Thank you so much!

Package or Custom?

Help yo girl out 🥲

Ongoing ko inquire for wedding packages, but I feel like most of the inclusions kay murag dili na sya necessary.

Examples:

  1. Gowns and suites for entourage - no need
  2. Photographer & Videographer - naa ko lain bet, and we SDE is optional
  3. Invitation - no need
  4. Souvenirs - we might find a diff supplier other than the usual perfumes

But most of the package same price daw sya even if naa ka i-remove.

For graduate brides, naa mo nailhan nga magpa custom and mas naka save ba mo? What are your experiences. TIA huhu

First user or custom- made

As a 2027 bride im still contemplating if it would be practical to design my gown as first user or keep it for myself? I was told the starting price for first user is 50k but depending on how intricate the design is it’ll probably go higher and reach 100k++. I have asked an atelier and quoted me 120-150k that would be custom made for me and i get to keep it. Problem is what will i do with it after the wedding? I don’t really want to keep the gown but if the first user will equal the atelier i asked for custom-made should just take it???

Looking for Wedding/Entourage Gown Similar to This Design

Hi everyone, I’m looking for shops, designers, or online stores that sell wedding dresses or entourage gowns with a similar design to the one in the photo. It doesn’t need to be the exact same dress just something with a similar style, silhouette, and overall aesthetic.

If you know any reliable shops, websites, Instagram stores, Etsy sellers, or suppliers that offer similar gowns, please comment or DM me. Thank you!

Belle Mariée - THE BEST IN THE BIZ

Where do we even begin?! Joan and the Belle Mariée team are just absolutely out of this world!!!

First off, Joan rescued us when we were a few months out from our wedding. We were with another planner prior, someone charging TWICE as much, who was an absolute nightmare to deal with. For most people getting married, it’s your first (and hopefully only) time, so naturally, you don’t know what to expect. You don’t know what’s proper. So, it took us far too long to realize a planner not responding for weeks at a time, shooting down your ideas and forcing her own, essentially forcing you to plan your own wedding, and charging for full wedding planning when her only intention is to do day-of-coordination is NOT normal and not okay.

Thankfully, Joan descended like an angel into our lives and was a complete 180 from that! We never went more than a day before getting a response from her or one of her amazing team members. Honestly, WE sometimes took longer to reply to them than vice versa!

She was SO supportive of all our ideas, so helpful at organizing the vendors we wanted, and full of wonderful suggestions for wedding elements we weren’t yet sure of. She came with spreadsheets that guided us to think about literally everything we needed to think about, and was SO SO organized and on top of everything, it was incredible. She made us feel safely held and taken care of, which is exactly how every bride and groom should feel when their wedding is approaching!!

Then: the day of was just SEAMLESS. Her team are so experienced, so fun, so kind, and so full of wisdom. They KNOW what they are doing! They made it so neither my wife nor
I had to think about ANYTHING on the day, they coordinated every single second perfectly and made our wedding absolutely, unforgettably magical and the utmost best time of our lives.

They are an actual DREAM to work with, and the value they provide is so extraordinary and beyond money. They felt like family to us throughout, except better because a lot of our family members won’t care about us as much as the Belle Mariée team did!

We wish we could get married again just to have the pleasure of having them plan it!!!

Thank you Joan, thank you all so much!! God bless you all and keep you and we can’t wait to see you next time we’re in Cebu!! <3

P.S. Do NOT listen to the worry on here about double bookings! It’s tsismis that got out of hand.

We brought this up with Joan: it happened only once because there was a couple who had to reschedule their wedding due to unforeseen circumstances. Joan told them that there was another wedding that day so she wouldn’t be able to be there for too much of it and they agreed. The Belle Mariée team is the pinnacle of professionalism and will never do anything with you that isn’t clearly communicated about and agreed to!

Cebu Wedding Venue

Hello, graduate brides! 👋 We need your help in choosing a venue for our wedding ceremony/reception. We’re currently considering The Ocean Pavilion at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa - Cebu because we really love the elegant design and ambiance of the venue. However, it’s a bit pricey, and we don’t want to splurge too much on the wedding venue alone. 🥹 Do you have any recommendations for beautiful indoor wedding venues around Cebu that are more budget-friendly but still have a classy and elegant vibe? We’d really appreciate your suggestions and experiences. TYSM! 🙏✨
