How is the University of Chester? Be BRUTALLY honest

So I’m a year 12 student going into year 13 in September and I’m currently considering Chester as one of my top choices, but I’m a bit worried since I haven’t heard too much about it prior to my uni research. The city itself looks lovely but I’m not too sure what the social life is like, if there’s anything fun to do, etc. I’d really appreciate some of your opinions on studying at Chester uni!

(also please lmk what the queer scene is like if any, ty ❤️)

Countess of Chester

Hi all.

I’m just wondering what the thoughts are of people who are having a baby/ thinking of having a baby and their thoughts about having it in the countess.

There’s been another revealing article about how the baby deaths (I never thought I’d type that and my heart goes out to all the families) started before letby even worked there. I know they’ve knocked down the old maternity ward and made a new one, but in all honesty, I am really against having a child there (if I ever have one). My husband on the other hand is a ‘Chester til I die’ person and states I will have to have it there.

What’s your thoughts on the countess?

Local football groups in Chester? Five a side etc

Hi all, I’m new to the city, was previously playing 5/7 a side multiple times a week and miss the routine here.

Had one game as a ringer at goals last Monday, division 1, standard was a bit too high for me 😅

Any groups/league teams need a new regular?

Hi, have any of you visited Chester zoo Solo, is this peculiar or perfectly acceptable

Are there many dining solo in the zoo cafes. I have never been to a zoo and would love to visit Chester. Is it strange going alone as you're surrounded likely by families and couples like a theme park

There would be no one going with me unfortunately so I'd be going alone

Quiet(ish) pubs on a Friday?

Long shot, especially in good weather, but does anyone know of any decent pubs in Chester, relatively central, that don't tend to get absolutely rammed/loud on Friday afternoon from about 6pm?

I'm meeting someone in what will be quite an emotional situation (positively, hopefully!) so could do with somewhere where we're not having to shout over people or music but we're aiming for a pub as I think we're definitely going to need a drink

Eclipse View Spots in Chester

Does anyone have good viewing spot suggestions in Chester?

The eclipse will be viewable in the direction of 285 degrees west, which is north westerly. Also needs to be fairly open space as sun will be low.

Was thinking mollington golf course or maybe zoo car park? Any other suggestions?

Tramways or Towpath for Chester?

Got a conditional offer for Chester, hopefully confirmed after results day. Trying to decide between Tramways and Towpath for accommodation, both Student Roost, both near Queens Park campus, so hard to tell them apart just from the website.

If you've lived in either, would appreciate some honest input on:

  • Noise levels, decent for actually studying/sleeping, or pretty loud?
  • Walk to campus and town from each
  • State of the rooms/kitchens in reality vs the photos
  • Whether it felt worth the price
  • Anything you'd have wanted to know beforehand

Sober friends in Chester

Hi there,

I've been alcohol free since 2022, and I'm keen to meet like-minded people. I'm 39, male, and recently moved to the area, so I'm hoping to build a bit of a social circle here. I'm a Liverpool fan, so always up for watching a game, and I still enjoy pubs, just drink zeros. I also play padel and like walking. If you fancy a zero percent drink or a coffee sometime, I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers

Chester content creators

Most large cities in the USA have local smartphone content creators that are usually less expensive than traditional photography and will use your smart phone to capture you photographs around the city. They usually get paid 50-60 an hours. Does Chester have this, and if so are there a good website or social board to check?
