Rim options and opinions

Just picked up this 2010 LT and looking at the following 3 rim options becuase they are in my budget. looking for opinions on colour…don’t think full black is ill work well. I’ve found a few with silver and black that might work but hard to visualize..The colour of the truck is making it a little difficult and I’m just not sure how the black combo will work? Opinions welcome and anyone who has this colour of truck if you have images of what you have done rim wise please share.

Cladding transplant?

I have an 02 with moderate collision damage on the passenger side doors. I just went to Pull a Part and grabbed an 02 Suburban door. Sadly someone grabbed the rear passenger door already. The impact area was just above the door handles and *mostly* missed the cladding thank goodness.

Anyway, does anyone have tips to transplant the cladding to the new door? I'd love to hear your story on how it went.

First avalanche

After many silverados and tahoes I got my first (2004) avalanche, its got plenty off issues but for the price I paid I think its worth piecing back together to keep it on the road

Suggestions on some issues

Hey everyone, I have a 2007 Avalanche with a couple small problems and was wondering if someone might have any suggestions about any of them. It was my dads truck and he passed so I have it now and would love to try and fix some of the things it has wrong with it but I don’t know much about cars mechanically. Advice on any of these issues is much appreciated.

1)Occasionally the truck won’t crank on the first try and the clock on the radio resets to 12:00, I turn the key back to off and it always cranks fine the second time
2)The check engine light goes on and off periodically, sometimes it’s on for weeks other times just for the day, when the light is on the remote start from the key fob doesn’t work, when the light if off the remote start works.
3)Neither of the rear tires pressure will show on the dash board. The tire light is not on and the front tires show just fine.
4)When getting gas the stations pump always cuts off prematurely.
5)None of the door speakers work, only the two speakers in the front pillars by the windshield work.
6)The driver window won’t go down.
7)The rear driver door won’t lock or unlock, you have to manually push the lock up or down .

Please if anybody else has had any of these issues or knows what to do about any of them I’d much appreciate it!

Cluster working, but not displaying mileage (odometer busted)

Everything else on the cluster is working the odometer says something along the lines of "error" next to mileage output (its in the shop right now).

Shop told me that it would cost me $1000 if not more to have it sent in and repaired. I've been driving it for a few months like this, but need to get it registered. They are stating the fix is easy (soldering, common issue, it looks like), but the computer software is what will cost me.

Are there shops that repair this for less of a cost to find out what the mileage was and the difference now?

Cannot Find the Issue

2012 Chevy Avalanche RAP (Retained Accessory Power) system stays active and does not shut off after opening the doors. Driver door latch assembly has already been replaced, but the issue persists. Dome lights also do not turn on when either the driver or passenger front door is opened, suggesting a possible shared door-ajar signal, wiring, ground, BCM, or latch circuit issue rather than the latch itself.

Any advice or if someone had this issue before would be a huge help. Also the radio time resets every time.

Off roading in Bald Mountain, CA

The Avalanche took this trail like a champ and handled some pretty gnarly obstacles.

Front Chevy emblem

Will the front Chevy emblem from a 2011 suburban fit a 2002 avy? My 02 hasn't had an emblem in so long that I have nothing to compare to.

Would I be accepted? (Edited & chopped)

Sup chaps. Im planning on turning a damaged 96-99 Chevy)GMC Suburban into a custom avalanche. what i was thinking, was that I have a tailgate that opens into the cab, and having the glass removable. Im planning on using an old rear window frame from a pickup and using plexiglass as a removable window. The window frame will just slide out of the top of the tailgate.

I've thought this through, unlike the standard hillbilly deluxe special. Im doing this like an actual avalanche with removable window and midgate, so it'll take time and funds. But I'll enjoy it. When it's done, it won't look like this hot garbage from the web. It'll look magnificent.

Looking for ideas and advice.

Just purchased this 2010 LT beauty and although I’m not 100% loving the colour she was pretty mint and only had 156k and paid less than 5k for it. Needs some minor body work on lower parts but not much.

Looking for any images of others who have this colour and may have done some appearance mod. I’m gonna change the rims staying with 20” but Also looking for advise on a less expensive lowering kit and some modest performance mods.

Also what have people used to get the black mouldings back to black as they are a bit sun faded.

Thanks

What data interfaces for aftermarket stereo with Bose amplifier are you guys using?

the guy who did my install opted to use the Axxess GMLN29 and I’m having a whole host of problems with automatic lights and steering wheel controls, amongst a couple others. Wondering what data interfaces you guys used and had success or had problems with, and if so what problems?

If you could post what stereo and what data interface you went with in your comment that’d be rad as well! Thanks yall

2013 Chevy Avalanche jerking/knocking after oil change — could oil be overfilled?

2013 Chevy Avalanche 4WD ~149,000 km

About 2–3 weeks ago, I changed my engine oil for the first time myself, along with the idler pulley, tensioner pulley, serpentine belt, and engine air filter. I originally did those repairs trying to fix a squeal coming from the truck. Oddly enough, the squeal didn’t go away after replacing those parts, but it has since mostly disappeared on its own.

When I first checked the dipstick after the oil change, the oil was so light/clean that I had trouble getting a proper reading. I didn’t think much of it because I added the amount listed in the manual. Since then, though, I’ve checked it periodically and it now looks noticeably overfilled.

When warm, the oil level sits a bit above where the dipstick starts to twist. Now that the truck has been sitting cold for over a day (I haven’t driven it since the engine light came on), the level looks way higher than that.

The truck was running fine until the other day while I was doing deliveries (yes, I know this is a terrible food delivery vehicle 😅). I started noticing a mild banging/jerking/knocking sensation every minute or so, almost like something underneath or near the front end was intermittently catching or jolting.

A little while later, the engine light came on. I ended up getting it towed home because I didn’t want to risk making things worse by driving it further. Thankfully I’m with CAA, so the tow wasn’t a huge issue.

My question is: could overfilling the oil cause the jerking/knocking feeling and trigger the engine light? And if so, is it possible that draining the excess oil could resolve it?

I’m hoping to avoid another major repair bill if possible- this truck (and life in generally) has already cost me plenty this year.

Video is of my very anemic ass trying to show both sides of the dipstick 🫠

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Installing a back-up camera in the tail gate handle trim on a 2003?

I installed a back up camera in the tail gate handle housing on my 2009 pretty easily. The whole interior panel of the tail gate unscrews so you can see what you're doing to run the wires.

With my 2003 it looks like you have to remove the spoiler body tape and maybe drill some rivets to remove the tail gate interior panel? It looks like a nightmare. Is there a way to run a fish tape wire through the tail gate in order to install a back up camera in the same place? It looked to me like there was a tiny opening down at the bottom corner of the tail gate that maybe I could feed some wires into?

That or I could drill a small hole in the fiberglass panel down at the corner in order to pass wires out of there, down the frame rail?

I want to install it as cleanly as possible. The camera pointing down at an angle was perfect in my other truck because you can see the back bumper in the view and know exactly how far you can back up. Thanks!
