I think my Chevy sonic 2018 1.4L Coolant hose (?) end rotted off, is this an easy fix or…

This is my first car so I don’t know too much about really anything car wise. I was cleaning my throttle body and as I was finishing up I think I accidentally pulled this hose off of the connector end it was on? Upon further inspection I saw that the end was really short and it seemed like maybe it was once longer but it I guess rotted away? Is this a correct assumption or should I get this checked out further.

Also there was a lot more brown gunk in the hose earlier but I was picking some of it away with a pair of pliers

Advice on what to do with my 2014 sonic?

Hey everyone, a few months ago I asked for help on getting a radiator hose replaced. You guys were super helpful and I got fixed! However... went to start it and... nothing lol. The battery seems to be completely dead. I drip charged it and everything but it seems toast.

Since then, I've gotten a new car, and with the Sonic being so far back in my backyard and out of view its been somewhat out of mind. However, with fall/winter coming, I want to figure something out here soon.

This was my daily driver before the radiator hose went out. It was good to me. I did regular maintenence on it, fixed a bunch of engine lights (iykyk) some of which I did myself. It has around 134k miles on it. The tires are newer. Probably only 3-4k miles on them. It was running fine when it was last started, but ive noticed oil in the coolant reservoir.. so possibly sign of a head gasket going out. Sorry this has been long, but thought I'd ask you guys for your thoughts. I could scrap it but who knows if someone here wants to part it out or even fix it up. Open to suggestions!

What it’s this?

It’s dragging, I noticed after getting home shortly after my overheating sensor was digging at me (I wouldn’t have driven at home like that if I wouldn’t have been super nearby my house). I had to stop driving. I will be taking it to the shop tomorrow. Just curious what this is?

Flashing engine light on pollo 1.2

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my 2014 VW Polo TSI BlueMotion.

The engine warning light flashes only during a cold start. The engine vibrates/shakes, and the RPM is slightly higher than normal. After around 20 seconds, the RPM drops back to normal, the warning light goes off, and the engine runs smoothly. It only happens on cold starts; once the car is warm, it drives perfectly.

I’ve already replaced the fan belt, ignition coil, and spark plugs, but the problem is still there.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows what could be causing it? Any advice would be really appreciated. 😭

Has anyone added an auxiliary ground?

I am trying to knock out some of the cheaper possibilities for a rough starting engine. Google.is suggesting possibly corroded ground wire but says I can add an auxiliary ground as an easy cheaper option. I assume I just add the additional wire to the negative terminal in the battery and then to a ground point on the car. I am not sure where the best ground point on the car would be though.

Can my Sonic take me across the country and back?

I got a secondhand 2016 Sonic almost a year ago. It runs great. My first compact car, so it took some getting used to. I have issues with overheating, but I don’t mind cranking the heat and letting the windows down. I live no more than 20 mins from everything I need, so I’m never on the road very long. It’s at about 86k miles. The previous owner’s wife keyed both sides of the car before I bought it bc she was mad her husband was selling it. I don’t mind the minor cosmetic damage, as I got it for a great price. A car is a tool. As long as it gets me places, I’m happy.

I plan on taking a roughly week-long trip in April 2027. I’ll be driving from Oregon to Missouri for a 2-day festival. It’ll take me 3 days to get there and 3 days to get back. It will be the longest trip I’ve ever made in any vehicle. While at this festival, I’ll have a vendor booth where I’ll be selling my art. As this is a compact car, there isn’t much trunk space, so I’ll be installing a roof rack to strap my coffin onto for extra cargo capacity. This will collectively add at least 400-500 extra pounds to my car.

Is this feasible? Am I an idiot for even driving a Sonic in the first place? Will I break down in the middle of nowhere? Any advice?

Can I get an infrared (purple tint windshield) aftermarket?

I really like the look of luxury vehicles with the purple windshield but as we know the Chevy sonic does not come with that out of the factory. Is there any way to get a replacement windshield that does have it?

Thank you!

Anyone else got this issue?

So my ac compressor went bad and I had recently replaced it. Usually I get some knock but it has never sounded like this. Anyone got any ideas? I’ve also had an issue with stalling recently. Sometimes the car will drop rpm and Almost bottom out. Most recently it has shut the car off. No cel/codes.

2012 chevy sonic possible oil cooler leak. Coolant in oil. Can i flush the engine and fix the oil cooler or cut my losses.

My question is can I fix it or is it a waste of time. So we just aquired a 2012 chevy sonic with 181k on it. I noticed when i got home the oil looked newer and a bit to full. I changed the oil it came out very black instead of like the newer color i saw the dat before. I also noticed the coolant level was down, so i added more coolant. The next day the coolant was down again. I was showing someone the car and in the back was some old coilant jugs and water jugs.

New to the Sonic

Hope I didnt make a mistake purchasing a 2017 hatchback. I got it for about 10K with 44 thousand miles on it. It was well taken care of and has 0 rust. I hope it lasts me years to come. I really love the look of this car!

2014 Chevy Sonic problem

Started it this morning and now has a knocking noise, pulled valve cover off and inspected everything and nothing appeared to be loose. Did find one coil pack broken. What else could cause this noise? 1.8 158k miles

Sold my Sonic, thanks for everything

We are currently moving and sold our Chevy Sonic to a local friend who needed a second vehicle. Thanks to everyone here for the great tips and instructions on fixing the car when the check engine light comes on (especially when it was the spark plugs). May your pillows always be cool and your sonics go fast.

2013 1.8L throws codes and stutters when hot

i have been trying to diagnose for 2 days now

for starters just got the vehicle inherited a week or two ago, ran fine for a few days then shut off in traffic and was stuttering out a bit when at stop lights, changed the oil and it seemed to run a bit better
fast foward a day later and now once the engine gets up to temp it begins to throw codes and stutter and perform poorly, yesterday i kept having the same issue of voltage drop from 14.5 to 13.5 and the engine started performing poorly, the tachometer also would go to 0 when that happened. the cel , power steering lights went on aswell.

codes were for bad communication between modules and once i let the car rest and cool off it would run normal again until warm

i did voltage tests on grounds and cleaned all them up, repaired some wires on the harness but to no avail

anybody see this happen??

surprisingly i dont think theres an issue with the valve cover. the only thing i can think is maybe electrical?? or oil issue?

codes i pulled today after warm up are included

thank you
