Why Buy A Traverse?

Been car shopping and curious what made you get a Traverse instead of a Kia Carnival? They look practically identical, cost is similar, and the Carnival is 100x more practical AND comes in a hybrid.

I usually use looks as a tie breaker when deciding between cars, but with them looking so similar it doesn’t really factor in. Curious what made people actually buy the Traverse instead

What Do You Like About Traverses VS What Don't You Like

So currently, I am shopping around for a new vehicle. I currently drive a 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE and have loved it so far. It's been very reliable, very roomy (surprisingly), and has very little issues. However, obviously it's smaller than a traverse.

One of the main reasons I'm looking at Traverses is its size. Comfortability is a huge thing for me, being 6'4 and on the heavier side (which is why I'm surprised that I was able to fit into my Sonata so comfortably). My job recently purchased a brand new 2026 Traverse for company use and I instantly fell in love with it and immediately knew that that was what I wanted as my next vehicle. It's spacious, comfortable, drives smooth and the features are not too bad either. And it all around seems reliable.

But I wanted to ask all of you what you think of Traverses? Have you ran into major issues? How is the reliability after so many miles? What does gas look like? What was the reason you first purchased a Traverse?

Anything helps. This would be my second vehicle that I ever purchase and I just want to make sure that I have something both comfortable and reliable. My first car was a 2001 Chevy Tahoe and I loved that vehicle as well. The Traverse seems like a perfect fit for me, but again, I just like to know more or less what I'm getting into. The only other contender for me would be a Nissan Pathfinder.

What are your thoughts?

2026 Chevy Traverse LT - Purchased - changes to settings?

Finally replaced our old car — settled on a 2026 Chevy Traverse LT with the Driver Convenience Package.

What settings changes did you all make after getting yours? So far the only one we've changed is turning on hands-free liftgate — it comes off by default.

Also, does anyone have a cheat sheet for the settings and controls? I've been going through the manual to get familiar with everything. The biggest adjustment for us is not having a traditional shift stick like our previous cars.

Used 2023 or 2024 -- your help is needed

For a long time I am planning on Traverse. I drove several times in new rental ones and loved them.

I now seriously consider buying one but read that 2024 model has issues with the screen.

I looked at how 2023 look and not sure i am buying into the old fashion anymore haha.

Your thoughts?

I might as well defect and buy an Enclave or even Toyota Grand.

Fingerprints and scratches

Just got my new 2026 Traverse. This is about the only thing that I've found to not like. What have y'all done to this console section to avoid the nasty fingerprints and the inevitable scratches that are coming?

Using the 110 plug on traverse…?

Has anyone actually used the 🔌 plug?

UPDATE: Thank you, everyone! I appreciate your help :). I opted to leave the crock pot at home lol.

I have a day camping trip coming up and I’d like to bring a plug in crock pot.

I’ve never used this before…can it handle it?

Does the car have to be running?

Thanks for your help!!

does all weather mats coverage matters?

For people who drive their SUV pretty much every day, are all weather mats actually worth having?

I’m mostly interested in how they hold up over time and whether they’re really easier to clean than the standard mats. Would you go all weather again if you had to replace them?

2024 Traverse fuel Economy not displaying

When I start my vehicle and check my miles per gallon on fuel economy this is what comes up. I have to reset it to actually see the miles per gallon at . Has anybody else have the same problem? I haven’t let dealership go through it yet. I did let noted on service report, return to it when have more time to leave the car more than an oil change. I was hoping updates would fix this glitch issue.

2025 Traverse LT midnight

Just picked up my vehicle from the dealer today after them having it since June 9th due to ECM issues.

Anyways, my vehicle does not have the Driver Confidence Package which comes with the Traffic Sign Recognition. I’ve had it since January of 2025, has never been an option and all sudden it’s here?!

I tried to Google if there was an update but couldn’t find anything. There is even now a setting in my settings for it. Any ideas? Super confused but happy because I had this feature in my last car!

Squeaking brakes

Anyone else have issues with breaks squeaking at low speeds when cold? It’s obnoxious. I’m bringing it in and hoping they replace the pads. Read online it’s a known issue and GM will replace the pads

2017 Chevy traverse bucking and traction control light

This happens every now and then my traction control light will come on and turn off traction control. The car will then begin to buck over 2500 rpm. This only happens when the light and error comes on which is not all the time. I took the throttle body off and cleaned it up real well already. Thinking possibly a wheel speed sensor but curious to what your guys thoughts are

Are TPE floor mats actually worth it or just marketing?

Swapped my stock mats for a molded TPE set and honestly the coverage around the pedals and center hump is way better than I expected. Kinda wish I did this years ago tbh. Anyone else tried different brands for these?

Is there a way to change these tiles? It has changed since the last update.

I was on my was to work in a 55 mph, using super cruise. For all that are so worried about it.

2024 Traverse Emergency Braking

I’ve owned a 2024 Traverse for a couple of years now and generally love it, but have had to turn off the emergency braking feature when backing up. It will just activate for seemingly no reason at completely random times, even when there is nothing at all behind me and I am backing up slowly. It’s particularly bad in the rain. One time it stopped seven times as I was backing out of my ~25 foot driveway. Anyone have similar experiences? I just did a vehicle update that says it was supposed to make improvements to it, but am honestly a little scared to reactivate it, as it is extremely jarring and makes me think I’ve hit something.

Possible Timing Chain Issue

Hello,

So I own this 2011 Chevy Traverse but the thing is that I suspect it has a timing chain issue. I told my dad since the day the problem started that i suspected it was a timing chain issue. He ignored me and changed the sensors, the problem still persist. I was going to remove the valve covers to physically check if there is any slack in the chains but I wanted to post it here to see what the consensus is. What do you guys think it is.

This is all the evidence I have:
- Codes
- Weak crank
- Rattle at start up
