Vintage look for Garden Formal

Hiii. Last week I posted my accessories for a garden formal event that I attended. I had quite a few comments wanting to see the full look so I’m sharing here.

The dress is Y2K Mandalay Designs from Canonball & Tilly (Los Angeles based vintage store that specializes in Mandalay Designs deadstock). The shoes are Y2K Manolo Blahniks from Soroité Vintage. The bag is from the 1950s found on Poshmark. And the bracelet is a 1980s pink sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet.

Why do pajamas get a free pass from fashion?

Most pajamas seem designed to look aggressively like pajamas. Tiny shorts that roll up the second you get into bed, fabric so thin you'd never answer the door in it, or the same loose button-up set with piping that every brand seems to make. This one confused me a little though. With a coffee in hand, maybe a cardigan and clogs, it starts looking more like a ribbed knit outfit than sleepwear. The top has some shape and the pants actually fall like trousers instead of bunching around the ankles. Now I'm wondering why sleepwear sits so far outside fashion when we spend so much time wearing it. What makes pajamas look intentional enough to wear outside - the fabric, the cut, or just getting

rid of the obvious pajama details?

How can I incorporate this style into my daily outfits. Need inspiration.

I love this bold feminine vibe but I’m not sure where to look for inspiration. Do you have any recommendations to look for (whether it’s fashion bloggers/youtubers or keywords to search with etc.)

Garden formal accessories

I attended an event this weekend with a garden formal dress code. I’m a big vintage lover so I opted for pre-loved accessories. The satin bag is from the 1950s, and the shoes are Y2K.

Am I the Only One Bothered by the “Kinda Chic”Trend?

This kinda chic that’s trending on social media is really annoying me.

Although I am by no means a grammar police, the word “chic” is very much misused and misleading in the trend.

Chic is a nuanced distinction of how one dresses and carries themselves. It’s that person who just has a knack for wearing jewelry or accessories a certain way to look understatedly fabulous.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. BTW, I’m not chic but appreciate a truly chic person because they are few and far between.

concert outfit!

I love to mix things that dont seem like they’d go together (leather & lace, long grandma skirt & edgy cut out top, etc). Concerts are a place where the rules relax a little ans you can get away with some extra kookiness

Fashion inspiration for Fall

I feel like most of these are just basic seasonal pieces: turtlenecks, crewneck sweaters, boots, miniskirts, blouses and jeans ! But I’m obsessed with those looks. I still wonder if some of those are a bit outdated, especially now that I see that a lot of places don’t even sell high waist miniskirts anymore (!!!) since low waist is all the rage. To me all of these are "classic" pieces but I wonder if I’m just stuck in my 2010s fashion bubble sometimes and I don’t even realize those are just dated looks. (The joys of being a millenial I guess)
