Can you help me choose?

I am in the process of publishing two books and have another two books ready to go but can’t decide which one to publish first. Which one appeals to you more? The Tabernacle of David: A Call to Worship. Obviously, this book is based on David erecting a new tent in Jerusalem and introducing spiritual worship as opposed to ritual worship. The second book is called Honey from the Rock. It is written in a lyrical, mediative style—more devotional than the first book. Every chapter is on a different subject about the Christian life. Which one would you choose to read?

My first non-fiction book

Thought I’d make a post about my experience releasing a non-fiction book which also happened to be the first book I’ve ever written and published.

It’s been 2 and a half months since I released it and I’ve sold 85 copies so far which I’m thrilled about. My goal was 5 🤣 There are no KENP Reads as I also released it on Apple Books and Ingram Spark. I’ve sold 4 ebooks on Apple Books and 17 paperbacks on IS.

If I had it all over again I’d do a few things differently. The first thing I’d do is not rush everything. I was too keen to get it live and made the mistake of publishing and then unpublishing my first version of the paperback and then archiving that one and starting up a new one. The problem was my kindle version was linked to the archived version and now the archived version occasionally pops up on searches. Each time I speak to support they sort it out but it’s happened 3 times now and I’m over it.

Advertising has been hit and miss. I’ve tried Amazon ads and now trying FB ads. I don’t think I’ve covered costs but it’s all a learning experience.

I set up a FB and Instagram page for the book and regularly post quotes. I think I’m up to 250 followers on FB now with less on Instagram. The key here is to just keep plugging away with posts. I also set up a website for my book and I’m working on an Authors website as well. Helps that I do it for a living.

I’ve finally hit 10 reviews and they’re all 5 star which is nice but also scary as I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. It was funny sitting in the number one spot for my category for a week with no reviews. Considering that the books under me had 1000’s I definitely felt like an imposter.

If I was to go back and give myself advice I’d say don’t rush and then just chill once it’s live. No need to check sales every hour!

I’d recommend spending the little bit extra and getting ISBN’s from Bowker and not AZ for each version of your book. You might as well buy a bunch of them because once the bug bites you’ll probably be writing a bunch more. I bought 10 (discount) and used 3 for my first book and currently have 3 other books on the go so they’ll all be used up soon.

Sorry for the long post, once I started I kept thinking of more stuff to say 😆

My book is out!

I posted recently about my book idea and it seemed like there was a good amount of interest. The Greatest Christian Scientists, which chronicles short bios on the lives of 38 scientists who were Christians, is now available on Amazon. (Ebook (kindle-unlimited), paperback, and hardcover editions are available.)
