I had Windows 11 installed on my Dell laptop, which has a 256 GB SSD and a 1 TB HDD. I wanted to use ChromeOS, so I downloaded ChromeOS Flex onto a USB drive. My main priority now is to recover my old Windows files safely. I want to find out whether ChromeOS Flex erased my 256 GB SSD, my 1 TB HDD, or both, and whether my old files can still be recovered. I do not want to accidentally overwrite or permanently lose any recoverable data

Chromebox stuck on black screen with logo

I upgraded yesterday my Acer CXI3 from stable to newest stable. It got stuck on a black screen with white ChromeOS logo.

I can recover with beta from https://cros.download/recovery/fizz

But, when it updates, the same happens (it gets stuck). I repeated it several times, not allowing immediate upgrade, and switching build to stable or to dev: same happens after OS update.

Finally, I recovered with LTC. This works okay. That is ChromeOS version 150.

Also, I have a Minisforum mini-PC (Venus series UN100C) with ChromeOS Flex. Same story. Except that sticking a USB stick inside one of its ports, allows ChromeOS Flex to boot.

In the end, I'm glad that I learned to use the LTC version: updates are really fast, and Android apps download really fast.
