BLACK ANGUS - ROACHES & RATS!! SHUTDOWN TWICE!

SIR, WOULD YOU LIKE RAT TURDS OR ROACHES WITH YOUR STEAK?

I work hard for my money and when I go out to eat, I expect certain standards. Everybody's standards can vary so we authorize our government to set a general level that we all can agree on. This is the role of the Restaurant Health Inspector.

I want to be fair, but I also think customers deserve to know when there appears to be a REPEATED food-safety pattern.

According to Sacramento County health inspectors, Black Angus on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights was RED-CARDED on March 2, and then again on June 23, 2026. The reported violations included rodent droppings in multiple areas, cockroach activity, improper food storage, and sanitation concerns. The restaurant was reinspected the next day and reopened with a green card.

My concern is not just one inspection. My concern is the repeated nature of the problem. If a restaurant is closed for rodents, roaches, and sanitation problems, then later has another closure or serious pest-related inspection issue, that raises a fair question: was the underlying problem truly corrected, or was it only cleaned up enough to pass the follow-up inspection and get a green card?

A green placard means the restaurant passed that inspection. It does not erase the history. Repeated pest and sanitation issues should matter to customers, especially when choosing where to spend their money and where to eat.

Here is the inspection information so people can review it for themselves:

Home search

Hi everyone!
We are thinking of moving to Citrus Heights & I wanted to get the home owners’ input on electric/water/sewage/gas prices. I know I can look up the rates for SMUD online, however I’m just curious on sq footage, solar or no solar, what are y’all paying a month? Thanks!!
Bonus if you have recommendations on safe family neighborhoods.

Cherry donuts

Okay, I did a search of this sub and didn't see any discussion of cherry donuts. Anyone have a line on a good donut shop with cherry donuts?

Get a spare or two, valley dwellers

Yesterday we dodged the bullet of all summertime bullets. I was in the yard around 2 pm when I heard the dreaded 'click', then nothing at our AC's condensing unit. AC(78⁰ setpoint) was trying to kick on for the first time of the day. I went inside, and saw the state of the stat, 79⁰ inside temp & 78⁰ setpoint, but there was nothing, just the eerie sound of dead calm in the house, and the creeping swelter of valley heat making its way from the attic to living space. I temporarily raised the setpoint to 85 in order to evaluate the problem.

How prophetic was it that my son and I had a conversation 24 hrs earlier, wherein I said how lucky we were to not have AC problems over our countless years in the house. Murphy happened to be eavesdropping, and would rear his ugly head, and soon.

In a panic, I ran to the garage cabinet, tossing things aside until I found them, the life giving spark to our AC unit, the spare 45mf capacitors I had stored many years ago, in preparation for just such an event.

Within minutes I had removed the AC unit fuse(electrical disconnect), the service panel on the condenser, and de-energized the capactitor. Normally a meter check of the capacitor would be in order, but it was nearly 100⁰ already outside and had crept to 80 inside, so, damn the torpedoes, a quick swap of the capacitor was accomplished. Panel and fuse were reinstalled. I went inside, dropped the setpoint back to 78, and BOOM, the telltale click of my stat inside, followed by the startup of the system fan and, hell yes, we're blowing cold air again.

A total outage of 20 minutes, which could have been days waiting on a service person, was easily tolerable. The procedure really is as simple as changing out a light bulb if you have any skills at all. Research the capacitor on your AC unit and keep a spare or two, just in case.

Sears Sunrise Mall Citrus Heights California (August 30 1972 - July 15 2018)

In the single level Sunrise Mall in Sacramento County, this 3 level Sears was the only anchor with a basement. This store's layout was similar to the [Overlake Plaza location in Washington State] (https://www.reddit.com/r/SEARS/comments/1vg1jfp/sears_department_store_in_the_overlake_plaza/) and the escalator layout here was nearly identical to the [Southland Mall store in Hayward] (https://www.reddit.com/r/retailporn/comments/1utewbd/sears_hayward_california_november_6_1958_july_2020/) (November 6 1958 - July 2020) and the [Sun Valley Mall store in Concord, now the last open location in California] (https://www.reddit.com/r/SEARS/comments/1v62oi3/sears_at_the_sun_valley_shopping_center_in_concord/) (October 19 1966 - present), which is 1 hour and 22 minutes away from here and where they have a shipping department (they even have a few distribution centers as well) and pick up for items sold directly by Sears site wide on Sears.com. This store, just like Hayward and Concord, also had a stairway but just like Concord, the stairway here in Citrus Heights was located right at the mall entrance. This location in Sacramento's Sunrise Mall closed down on July 15th of 2018.

Edit: as for small appliances - they still sell on the Sears website. They ship from Sears Authorized Supplier and are sold by Sears: https://www.sears.com/appliances-small-kitchen-appliances/b-1020025?storeOrigin=Sears,Sears%20Authorized%20Supplier&filterList=storeOrigin

Looking for auto shop recommendations

Hello all, I need to get my front brake pads and rotors replaced on my Toyota RAV4. Looking for a place with good customer service and won’t rip me off or cost me an arm and a leg, I know it’s not gonna “cheap” wherever I go but I’m just trying to weigh my options here. I appreciate any feedback, thank you.

Local 3-person Shakespeare comedy coming to Roseville this August 🎭

Hi everyone!

I'm part of Chronicle Stage, a local community theater company, and we're putting on The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised] [Again] in Roseville from August 28–30.

If you've never heard of it, it's a ridiculously fast-paced comedy where three actors perform all 37 of Shakespeare's plays in about 90 minutes. Even if you've never read Shakespeare, it's written to be accessible, chaotic, and genuinely funny.

We've been rehearsing all summer, and it's been a blast. If you're looking for something different to do that weekend—or just want to support local theater—we'd love to see you there.

📍 The Rock

725 Vernon St., Roseville

📅 August 28–30

🎟️ Tickets:

Happy to answer any questions about the show, community theater, or Shakespeare!

Go save Stefan

This poor pup is facing euthanasia at Bradshaw Shelter. Can you save him? He’s been there too long and needs a soft safe spot. I’d take him in if I could!
