A&P Professor Recs

I am planning on taking A&P 1 and 2. What professors do you recommend? I am looking for someone who's exams are similar to the lecture material (no surprises on the exam), gives extra credit, and multiple choice only exams.

Financial Aid

Anyone here in a radiology tech and know of grants/scholarships besides FAFSA + Pell?

I’m trying to figure out how to pay for my rad tech program and looking for any financial aid options people actually used.

Would appreciate any recommendations or experiences!

should i take the F or attempt the final ?

hey so i’ve had some medical and family issues that popped up literally right before spring break and i haven’t been back to school since then up until this week. i’ve been able to keep up to date with almost all of my classes expect for one - microbiology lab. since ive been out of school and this professor doesn’t post work online i haven’t been able to stay up to date, i know from classmates that ive missed like 5/6 quizzes and i personally don’t think ill do even remotely good on the final as a result.

ive already emailed the professor and asked if he would consider giving me a WU or INC grade but he has said no 😬😬

quizzes are worth 25%
midterm 30%
final 45%

my grade on the midterm was a 76 (88 with curve) and the quizzes i was able to take (we had one every week) i got usually 80-90 but at this point the missed quizzes probably outweigh the ones i actually took.

should i just take the F ? or should i attempt the final ??

my dilemma really is that if i take the final and for example do well enough to get a D (or even a low C which is pushing it), that even retaking the class won’t get rid of the D from my transcript my new grade and the D will just average out, whereas with an F which is guaranteed if i don’t take the final, will disappear from my transcript when i retake the class

if there are any other options i haven’t thought of or you have any suggestions please let me know!!

Bio2311

Does anyone know if it’s possible to switch BIO2311 lab/lecture sections with another student at City Tech? I currently have the Tuesday afternoon A&P I section and I’m trying to switch into the Tuesday morning section instead. Has anyone done a direct section swap before, or would both students have to drop and re-register at the same time? if anyone in the Tuesday morning section wants to switch into the Tuesday afternoon section, let me know.

Hi r/NYCTeachers! I’m a local artist, educator, product manager and tech founder, and I’ve spent the last year teaching a series of Vibe Coding workshops at Brooklyn Spark, NYC Resistor, and Fairfield University.

I’m posting here because I’ve seen how these workshops transforms participants who have zero technical background. I recently led a program for liberal arts students who went from being "non-techy" to launching real web projects for a hackathon in just days. As one student, Maggie, put it: "The most valuable thing I got was confidence in myself with technology. It is no longer something that I fear."

I'm starting my next intensive on May 20, and I’d love to see more NYC teachers there, either to learn how to build your own custom classroom tools or to help your students move beyond "chatbots" and start actually creating software.

This is a 4-day, hands-on intensive where you will move from concept to a published website or tool using natural language and AI agents. It’s designed to be accessible, and focused on building a finished project you can actually use.

Full details and registration here:

https://portal.brooklynspark.com/events/1415694922/vibe-coding-intensive-build-and-launch-a-website-app-or-tool

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the curriculum or how to bring this to your students!

To mods: I saw the message that I may need approval to post something like this. Not sure how to get it, so please consider this me asking for it very nicely :) Thank you!

Summer Research

So i’m part of the STEM Research Academy for high schoolers and I would like to apply to do summer research. I initially thought there would be chemistry professors but there are none (😭😭) so I was wondering which of the professors would be most chemistry related (the list is below).

Additionally, how much work do these advisors give? The schedule says 9-5 monday-thursday but that’s lowk crazy 🫩💔

thank uuu

Transfer student vs City Tech prereqs for radiology program?

Does the radiology program at city tech prioritize applicants who completed prereqs at City Tech over transfer students when GPAs are similar?

I’m deciding where to take summer classes right now and wanted to know if taking prereqs at City Tech gives any advantage during admissions.

Dental Hygiene

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get into the Fall Dental Hygiene program at CityTech and I applied for the day program. I wanted to ask current students how they’re managing tuition and work while in the program.

I never qualify for financial aid because my income is considered too high. Are most students taking out loans or using scholarships? If so, which ones?

I know the program is very intense, but I would still like to work at least part-time if possible. If anyone is currently working while in the program, what kind of job or schedule are you doing?

Any advice would really help. Thank you!

Switching majors

I saw that you come into the school as undeclared health majors, what major do you have to be to apply for the nursing program? Do i have to be undeclared health or is another major fine?
Also does anyone know how retaking a course works? I have a B in english so im not sure if i need department permission or if i can just retake it, and if they will average my grade.

Im still trying to figure out how to talk to an advisor for nursing specifically which is why im asking this here.
