2 Small Payouts

Did everyone else get their G.Skill & Amazon Prime Settlement payment? Neither one was more than $30, but I wasn't expecting either of them... So it's a win in my book!

G.Skill was $24.60

Amazon Prime was $28

SSS Update

Hi, all,

I wanted to share an update for those represented by Slater Slater Schulman (“SSS”) in the Los Angeles County Child Victims Act / AB 218 settlement.

This is based on communications I received from SSS and information provided to me regarding my own case. I’m sharing it because I know a lot of people are waiting for answers. Additionally, I am a lawyer by profession (I practice corporate M&A, restructuring (bankruptcy), contract, and entertainment law primarily), so any insight and opinion I provide is based on my personal knowledge, experience, and to the extent relevant, expertise.

1. BrownGreer has initiated an administrative audit of certain SSS claims.

BrownGreer, working with retired Judge Louis Meisinger as the appointed Settlement Administrator, has initiated an internal administrative audit involving what I have been told is approximately one-third (1/3) of the claims being handled by SSS.

Although neither the attorneys at SSS, nor I, have seen anything establishing that this audit was a direct result of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s investigation, it appears to be an ancillary result against the backdrop of the DA’s investigation into allegations that certain AB 218 claims submitted against the County, that the LA D.A has alleged as fraudulent.

If your claim is selected, you should receive a new fact sheet and verification through DocuSign/DocuBee. The fact sheet reflects the information previously submitted on your behalf by SSS, including the facts supporting your claim and stated damages.

If received, you will being asked to carefully review it, confirm that everything is accurate, and sign the new verification so it can be resubmitted through the claims administrator’s portal.

SSS stated that the audit has temporarily paused processing of claims while additional information is reviewed. SSS says the purpose of having clients re-execute the fact sheets is to reconfirm the accuracy of each claim and help expedite payment of valid claims once the audit requirements are satisfied.

2. Medical/public-benefit liens are also being reviewed.

The Settlement Administrator is also responsible for determining whether any liens exist before funds can be distributed. This is standard in a personal injury case.

In my particular case, I was informed that I have no outstanding liens, so that portion appears to be cleared.

Other claimants, however, may have lien issues that still need to be resolved. Depending on your individual history, including certain public medical benefits, an agency may assert a Len and seek reimbursement via a claim, which must be confirmed, disputed, negotiated, or otherwise resolved before payment can be released. That process can create an additional delay.

3. August/September payment timeline is still being estimated, but cautiously.

The information I have received continues to indicate that payments are cautiously anticipated throughout August and September, although anyone whose claim is subject to the audit, lien review, or another hold should understand that their individual payment could take longer.

4. If you have heard nothing, contact your law firm.

If you have not received a fact sheet, DocuSign request, payment information, or any meaningful update regarding your claim, I strongly recommend contacting your counsel directly by email or telephone and asking specifically:

- Is my claim part of the BrownGreer audit?

- Has BrownGreer requested additional information
regarding my claim?

- Has my updated fact sheet or verification been
requested?

- Are there any outstanding medical, Medi-Cal,
Medicare, Medicaid, or other liens associated with
my claim?

- Is there any other hold preventing my claim from
being processed?

- Has the firm been informed of any issue involving
my claim arising from the District Attorney’s
investigation?

5. Important issue concerning the District Attorney’s investigation.

I have also been told that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has provided the Settlement Administrator and claimant attorneys with information identifying certain individuals whose claims are reportedly under active criminal investigation.

To be very clear: being investigated is not the same thing as being charged with or found guilty of a crime. I, nor counsel to our claims (regardless of who represents you) do not know the evidence concerning any particular person, the scope of each investigation, or what action, if any, the District Attorney ultimately intends to take (though, I suspect, prosecutions to occur within the next 6 months, give or take - but this is just my guess and opinion).

If you are concerned that your claim may be involved, I would ask your attorney directly whether the firm has received any notice from the District Attorney, BrownGreer (the settlement administrator) concerning you or your claim.

If your attorney tells you that you are personally the subject of a criminal investigation, I would strongly suggest and advise you speak with a** **criminal defense attorney before making statements about the underlying facts to investigators or anyone outside your own counsel. Your settlement attorney may represent you regarding the civil claim, but a criminal investigation raises separate issues that warrant advice from an attorney experienced in criminal defense.

I would also caution everyone against publicly naming or speculating about people who may supposedly be under investigation. An investigation is only an investigation, and rumors can spread very quickly.

In summary, the settlement process is still moving, but the BrownGreer audit has created another layer of verification, which has caused another delay. If you receive a new fact sheet, read every page carefully and make sure it accurately reflects your claim before signing it. If something is incorrect, contact your attorney rather than signing information you believe is inaccurate.

For anyone still waiting with no explanation, I would be proactive and contact your law firm. Ask specifically whether your claim is in the audit, whether your verification is complete, whether lien clearance is complete, and whether there are any other holds.

This post reflects information communicated to me, and my understanding of the current process. It is not legal advice, and I cannot independently verify what is happening with anyone else’s individual claim.

Law firm investigating the December 2025 Aesto Health data breach — free case evaluations for affected individuals

Edelson Lechtzin LLP, a national class action law firm, is investigating a data breach involving Aesto Health, an Alabama-based healthcare technology company that manages and transfers patient data.

According to Aesto Health, a breach occurred on or about December 18, 2025, affecting part of its cloud infrastructure. An investigation indicated that between December 2 and December 18, 2025, personal information was accessed and acquired from its network. The potentially compromised data includes full names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state ID numbers, and dates of birth.

If you received a notification letter from Aesto Health, you may be at increased risk of identity theft and fraud. A few practical steps worth taking regardless of legal action:

  • Review your account statements and credit reports regularly
  • Consider placing a fraud alert and setting up credit monitoring
  • Preserve any breach notification letters or emails you received

We are looking into a potential class action on behalf of affected individuals and are offering free, confidential case evaluations. Happy to answer general questions in the comments.
