Why does it smell like burning plastic outside
It can’t be just me.
Debating Between Apartments
My boyfriend and I are moving to Clearwater and trying to decide on an apartment complex. Since we are from out of town and can’t tour any of these places I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts. We are currently between Alexander at Countryside, The Palms of Clearwater, The Breyley, Macalpine Place, Avana Coachman, Grand Reserve at Park Isle, and The Sands at Clearwater. If there’s somewhere we should add or delete please let me know!
In Need of Work
I was laid off from my previous position at a small business home improvement store. Unfortunately money is tight, as I don't own a vehicle. I'm trying to keep my commute, whether that be by bike or bus, in the Clearwater area. I have prior management experience at both a CVS and Panera Bread location. My most recent role was Sales Coordinator for the home improvement store, advertising our items on Marketplace and Offer up to draw customers in. If anyone has a lead to someone who's hiring, please reach out. I can pass a drug test and background check as well.
Duke Energy Saver Program
Yesterday, a guy from the Duke Energy Saver Program came to our door offering their "free service", which seems too good to be true. Have any of you taken advantage of this? What exactly are they offering?
Shout-out to Johnny's Italian restaurant!
Today we were feeling like someplace different from our usual spots and remembered about Johnny's Italian on 590 between McMullen Booth and US19. It's been a few years since eating there so I was worried that they may not even still be around. Happy to say they are still there and serving great food just as we remembered.
It's a long time, family run (I believe) home style Italian restaurant that probably hasn't changed their menu in years. That's a good thing when you crave some comfort food.
It's a great feeling to support a local business that just keeps on chugging decade after decade.
How a dangerous religious cult intentionally destroyed the downtown area of a Florida city out of spite.
The first 11 minutes of the video are about the history of Clearwater and the Fort Harrison Hotel. So feel free to skip it. I think the rest should be viewed by anybody who wants to know more about a dangerous cult masquerading as a religion.
Also, the title is misleading. Clearwater Beach is still thriving, as is much of the rest of the city that isn't near the Scientology buildings. The thumbnail is also misleading. it shows the Don Cesar on St Pete Beach inverted to point southward instead of northward.
Helicopter Circling/Standstill
Anyone know what happened off shore tonight around sunset? It was between Frenchy’s South Beach & The Wyndham Hotel. A helicopter circled around the ocean and then was at a standstill hovering over one spot without moving.
Bianca Latvala Backed by the People who Want to Ruin The Landings and Donated to Sam Wilson!
Bianca Latvala's conflicts of interest continue to make her a bad addition the city council. Her most recent financial disclosure statement reveals she receives money from the Important Work PAC, which is backed by Porter Development. This is the company that made The Landings proposal that threatens the character of the golf course and surrounding community.
In Addition, Bianca donated money to Sam Wilson (who does not oppose giving away South Garden Ave to the Church of Scientology) under her maiden name Bianca Sabrkhani.

exercising my freedom of speech
Don't call the police, call your neighbor. , just lessons your safety, incarceration, probation, and very stringent laws creates more trauma/institutionalizations then anything out here. govern your community yourselves, united as neighbors we can fix anything. protect each other ❤️
Slow car, meet even slower driver...
Saw this elsewhere but felt strongly that it truly belongs here.
Scientology harass and intimidate local citizens group
Scientology is sending its members and private investigators to harass and intimidate the Save the Garden Clearwater group as it collects signatures for its petition.
Per a recent Facebook post:
"We had another private investigator show up to take pictures of our volunteers today with his zoom-lens camera. He sped off when we spotted him.
Such a creepy thing to do. If the goal is to intimidate us, it isn’t working. These tactics have become entertaining. We have nothing to hide and we are doing nothing wrong.
May we remind our opponents of the first amendment, ratified on December 15, 1791. We have every right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "
We proudly exercise these rights.
God bless America!
Sign the petition. Save the Garden!
She’ll spot recommendations
Went to Sanibel in May and it was beautiful, but we didn't find many shells on the beaches. Most of our good finds came from a boat tour to Captiva. We went to Caladesi Island last January and found tons of amazing shells.
We're planning another trip and are considering Clearwater Beach (for Caladesi and Honeymoon Island) or St. Pete Beach (for Pass-a-Grille and Shell Key Island). We're deciding between January or May.
Which area/time would you recommend for the best shelling?
Places to hang
Hey all. Love FL but don't get there too often. Gay Masc 43F wondering what are some 1) general cool places to hang out at in Clearwater and 2) if there's any single, interesting, intelligent, fit women open to conversation and 3) looking for good restaurant, coffee, rooftop bar recommendations.
Hope everyone is having a good evening. Cheers! 🍻
Would You Use a Mobile Phone Repair Service That Comes to You?
Hi everybody!
I’ve been working on something new and wanted to get some honest feedback from people.
The idea is a mobile phone and laptop repair service where I come to you instead of you having to drive to a repair shop and wait around. I’d handle things like screen replacements, batteries, laptop repairs, diagnostics, and other common device issues on-site whenever possible.
I’m still building the business and figuring out what people would actually find most useful, so I’m curious — is this something you’d use or recommend to someone?
Any feedback would really help.
Taxi from TPA to Clearwater?
Is there a taxi service available at Tampa airport that can take us to clearwater beach and how much should I expect? Taking taxi instead of uber/lyft because we have kids that require car seats and I heard taxis are considered public transportation and don't need carseats.
TECO Cost Help
Help me understand why my electric bill is so high. It has been this way since we moved into the rental.
We are 1400SF, large sliding glass doors (with thick curtains), AC is set at 78 degrees during the day and 80 at night. Built in the 1980's. There is a pool pump but it only runs for 4hrs a day.
The house genuinely has never cooled to 78 during the summer.
We just got new attic insulation and vents. Anything else I should be looking out for?
