Just finished a DDF Aquanaut 5167R that went through a full dial-side refinement and a major movement upgrade.

The goal with this build was not only to improve the appearance, but also to give the movement a much more authentic architecture and visual presentation.

🔧 Front-End Upgrades

🟤 SW Dial, Hands & Date Wheel More accurate dial texture and color tone Cleaner hand finishing Correct date font thickness and spacing ➡️ These upgrades dramatically improve the overall realism of the watch.

🔍 Deep Crystal Installed Improved clarity and light transmission Better viewing angles and dial depth ➡️ Lets the texture and details of the Aquanaut dial stand out much more naturally.

⚙️ Free-Sprung Movement Modification This is where the build becomes especially interesting. The movement was modified to feature a free-sprung balance setup, meaning the traditional regulator system is removed and timing adjustments are instead made directly through weighted balance wheel screws, similar to gen movement architecture.

🧠 Why This Modification Matters

📈 Mechanical Advantages

Better long-term stability Improved resistance to shocks and positional changes More consistent timing over time Because the balance itself is adjusted directly, the movement behaves in a way much closer to how high-end genuine movements are regulated.

👀 Visual Advantages

The upgraded deck engravings and free-sprung layout dramatically improve the movement appearance when viewed through the caseback. The movement looks: cleaner more technical and significantly closer to genuine architecture compared to standard decorated clone movements.

🎯 Final Result The Aquanaut is already one of the cleanest modern sports watches, and with the SW upgrades, deep crystal, and free-sprung conversion, this one feels much more complete both visually and mechanically. A very refined build that blends subtle aesthetics with meaningful movement work.

Just finished a ZF 16202 Jumbo Extra-Thin with a smoked slate grey dial, and this build came out incredibly elegant. The combination of the dark smoked dial with warm rose gold tones gives the watch a very understated but high-end presence.

This wasn’t just a plating job — the entire watch was refined to improve both the visual execution and the overall wearing experience.

The 16202 is all about proportions, finishing, and subtle elegance — and this build captures that perfectly. The smoked slate dial shifts beautifully depending on lighting, while the rose gold and refined finishing bring warmth and depth without feeling flashy. A very clean and sophisticated take on the Jumbo Extra-Thin.
