What's the meta/strategy for Colonist Rush?

First off, this game mode is great. It feels like the 1 v 1 version but for 4 players. I just cannot for the life of me get a win in this. No matter how good I think my set up is I just get cooked in the late game.

It seems like you need a very self sufficient set up to do well as people are less likely to trade. Also getting Army or Road early is good as it's easier to maintain them once you got them. Any other tips? It just feels helpless sometimes when someone is winning and the dice go by so quick before the board can react to stop them.

Aborting game after game

Game won't roll my brick numbers....... Shoddy programming.

Not baseless....... Game against bots. Also when you rob a bot you will never be given a brick. When game puts robber on you it will usually roll that number three times in a row so bots can catch up. When you get over 3 ore, there's a 90% chance you'll roll a 7. etc etc

Win by default?

Other player couldn’t get any more points to win so I had a million rolls to win lol. Couldn’t get a single normal roll to close it out for 6 min lol.

What to do about griefers?

These kind of games really seem so unfair. Red and blue basically spent all game stealing and blocking only me without contesting anything from the clear game leader. even when he was on 9 points they kept only stealing from me. I've reported people for griefing before but it never seems to lead to anything.

Is there a way to only purchase Colonist Rush?

I really think $18.99 a month is ludicrous to play Rush. I was ok paying even the 6.99 or 8.99 but 18.99? Yo my Netflix costs as much. Come on now.

So disappointed and frustrating.

This is why big corps then take over cuz the little guys pull these kinda moves but we, the people, really want to support the underdogs/little guys. Why can’t you guys let us do that? Why make that hard.

Sigh. Rant over.

Hot take: I think 1v1 is an incredible way to develop your catan skills.

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Let me start by saying 1v1 is by no means perfect, and I am not saying it is a superior version of Catan. I'm just saying that I started playing 1v1 for quick games, I've noticed a huge jump in my skills, and its paid off in more wins with the usual group of people I play with.

I think that 1v1 forced me to look at the board a completely different way. Paying much more attention to potential expansion spots, resource scarcity, and ports because those three factors are that much more exaggerated in 1v1. As a result, I analyze the board in my standard games with a much more wholistic view of what's going on. I do not default towards the same strategies when playing the standard game, but at least keeping those in mind in my perception of where I should go and what I should do has helped me see the game from completely new angles.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar, and if so, was it through 1v1? If not I'd love to hear some more ways people have experienced something similar.

Why does 659 generate but never 859?

My understanding of map generation is basically:

- no two identical numbers can be adjacent

- 6 and 8 cannot be adjacent

But why does 859 seemingly never generate while 659 does?

Red won… how?

Somehow pulled a victory with dev cards despite barely getting any wheat, and they messed up a road building and ended up with that random offshoot at the bottom

How do people with 25% win rates make it to high ranks?

Just math-wise, how is that possible? If you lose 6-7 points in a loss, and only win around 16 in a win, how are people gaining so much elo when they only win 1 out of 4?

Crazy road situation at the end of the game

This is the road situation at the end of one of the games I played. It's the most crowded road layout I have seen so far.
