Desktop version had matchmaking ads for the longest time. Our mobile was still in development so we didn't prioritize it. But now it is live there as well.

We understand not everyone will love seeing ads before queue entries.

We made this decision deliberately because we believe it’s the most player-friendly way to support and grow Colonist while keeping gameplay fair and accessible. We also made sure not to have external annoying ads, so all the ads players will see are Colonist native videos.

We do not want pay-to-play ranked queues, energy systems limiting how many games you can play, or gameplay advantages tied to spending. Compared to those models, short queue-entry ads allow us to keep the competitive experience open to everyone.

As always, we’ll continue monitoring feedback and player experience closely and adjust tweaks over the coming weeks.

The new auto mute feature in Colonist has really ruined much of chat. Since when did the developers get so soft?

This feels like a liberal/censored game now. SMH

Was just playing a game with some GREAT people (strat rat, blue, smelly, yall are the best), but game froze and now the app won’t open

I swear to God 50% of plat players are cheating, or join only to fuck up someone else's game and I swear the dice algo changes once you hit play. The game becomes entirely unenjoyable

My computer is giving me a 503 error when I try to open colonist.io, is anyone else experiencing this right now? Is it scheduled to be back up soon?

I have never seen such a stupid logic to dice rolling. It’s random 1-6, idc about you bs 98 percentile or whatever rule. Fix it, isn’t AI supposed to create all this incredible software? Use it then

I've played Colonist for a while. I've loved it more than any other Catan platform.

One thing I find fascinating is the difficulty of moving up ranks! This opinion probably isn't too controversial, but I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same.

The opinion is this: Moving from silver/gold to medium platinum is harder than moving from medium platinum to diamond.

Theres's a lot of reasons I think this is true. But, I think it really comes down to mostly one thing: People that are truly fitting of these ranks know enough to be decent but are bad enough at analyzing threats and planning for the future that they cause chaos. In the settling phase they'll leave an 8,4,10 open for the guy who already has an 6,5,9 because they're missing wood and the 8,4,10 doesn't have sheep. They'll rob the guy with 7 points, 0 devs, and no chance at longest instead of the guy with 3 down devs, 2 played knights, and one away from longest with 6 points.

Additionally, they also hold crazy grudges. Rob them once at the start of the game when everything is tied? Oh, it is on!

It always takes me longer to move from silver to the middle of platinum than from platinum to diamond.

You placed well, played well, builded economy and just sitting and waiting for that last point. You dont roll anything for four turns and game is won with someone who just rolled 19 cards in a last turn or so.

I absolutely loathe rank system where points earned have no weight whatsoever. If you play well, you got to pull the lever in the end. Oh you had like 80% chance to win in last several games? Thats too bad. Go fuck yourself and write off 25 points.
