Why all the new bots???

Why are all the new bots showing up in 4 player games? They all comment - Tired of bots? Go to hexe.gg or some shit address. They all ask for 1 for 2 trades. They all put up trades for a split second and decline them.

Are these from developers to increase games played or ????

I fucking hate this fucking website

Yesterday I won at least one in every 3 games and reached regional rank 1. Today I lost EVERY single game and lost 100 rating points. How tf can that happen. 🤦🏻🤦🏻

Is Colonist fair?

Unpopular opinion: colonist should have a balanced die which gives u rewards based on the exact numbers u build. The below game was a big disappointment for me on colonist.

What’s your favorite Colonist strategy?

I’m trying to get better at the game 😂

What’s one tip or strategy that actually helped you win more games?

I’d love to hear your best advice.

Who are the giants in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?

I didn’t really understand who the giants were while watching the movie, since the film doesn’t spend much time explaining them, so I looked it up afterwards.

They’re called the Laestrygonians, and in Homer’s Odyssey, they’re a race of cannibalistic giants ruled by King Antiphates.

When Odysseus’ men arrive in their land, they initially approach the king’s palace looking for hospitality. Instead, Antiphates immediately kills and eats one of them. The other Laestrygonians then attack the Greek fleet, throwing massive rocks from the cliffs and destroying almost every ship.

Odysseus’ own ship is the only one that escapes because he had cautiously left it outside the harbour. This is actually a huge moment in the original story: Odysseus goes from commanding an entire fleet to having only one ship left.

So they’re not really characters with a long backstory or an important mythology of their own. They appear very suddenly, completely destroy Odysseus’ fleet, and then disappear from the story just as quickly.

That probably explains why the scene feels slightly random in the movie. Without knowing the original poem, they can easily seem like unexplained giant warriors rather than one of the most disastrous encounters of Odysseus’ journey.

Am I the only one who felt the movie could have explained them a little more?

Seriously considering deleting this app due to blatant cheating (kingmaking)...

This is the third time something like this has happened to me this season. What you see in this screenshot is blue trading a 5:1 to black after saying he has no chance of winning and after black told him that he should just give him the win. What more is needed for accounts like these to get suspended or banned? It's very frustrating and a huge waste of time. There needs to be consequences. The fact that I'm making a Reddit post about this speaks volumes because I try not to take games too seriously, but it is ranked and it is something I do for enjoyment and cheating strips all enjoyment. If you all think this isn't a big deal, I respect your opinion and I even agree to a extent. But it's definitely some BS.

I won the USA East "Pirates" Region, going 4-0 undefeated. Ask me your CATAN tournament questions!

Hi CATAN Reddit! I played the East Regional over the weekend in Mechanicsville Virginia (far left in main photo). We had a total of 41 competitors who all qualified through winning local tournaments in the region. There will be 16 players in total (4 from each region) playing for a chance to become the 2026 USA National Champion during the weekend of September 25th-27th.

My goal is to help showcase that CATAN is truly a game of skill and strategy. I am fortunate to have won the 2024 National Championship, and be first ever back to back #1 seed going into Nationals. I also run a YouTube channel dedicated to teaching CATAN strategy and gameplay under the name DandyDrew - https://www.youtube.com/@dandydrew

Feel free to ask me anything related to CATAN tournament play, strategies, or whatever you want to know. Happy Settling! - Drew

Two devs or a city in this position?

Orange in this position. Obviously the game is mine no matter what I choose, but I’m curious on whether the play is to buy two devs here or 4:1 my wood for a city on the 8:4.

BEST COLONIST.IO ADVICE TO WIN….

Stay SILENT in the chat.

It’s so sad and makes the game so boring but unfortunately with how sensitive everyone is, the best strategy is to never say a word in the chat. (The chat used to be fun but it seems like there is a wave of people recently that TRY to use it to manipulate or they get triggered when you make smart moves)

If you don’t talk in the chat people tend to not associate you as a real person and they’re more forgiving or just forgetful when you make strategic and smart moves.

So tired of people throwing the game or sabotaging others games for using the robber once or god forbid playing a monopoly card or something.

I’ve found the best thing is to not say a word (even kind supportive words)

Where are my maps?

For the past few days when I try to play bot games it doesn't give me the option to select from my purchased maps. I'm not using expansions, just a couple favorite maps I bought. I'm logged into my account. When I look at the store and my account page, the maps show as purchased already. I just can't select them. Does anyone have advice?

No audio on iPhone version

I realized this morning how much I rely on the audio as part of the game and this morning no matter what I cannot get audio working on my iPhone.

I opened and Closed the app and restarted my phone etc.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

What’s the best spot?

I picked 5-9-10, but lost in third. Blue was merciful to meet and took 5-4-8 but didn’t plow me (had the roads to), and am wondering was there a better spot or just no chance cause I was first.

Dice randomization is abysmal. Absolutely awful.

They say the dice are randomized properly, but I don't believe it. I'd say a majority of the time I'm 3rd or 4th in total resources gained by the end of the game. I've tried everything. I've gone with only 6s and 8s. I've tried loading up on 5s and 9s. I've done games where I cover as many numbers as I can. Somehow, one way or another, it seems like the game sees what I do and then just gives whatever numbers I'm not covering. Look at this dice distribution from my latest game. Truly unbelievable. Unsurprisingly, my main numbers were 4, 6, 9, and 11. 2 11s? Fine. A rarer combination. I get it. Only 6 6s? Yah... right. Of course the guy that had wheat on 5 won the game. I mean... how could you not? It seemed like that guy got at least one resource with every dice roll. I'm convinced that if I got fair dice.. not even advantageous dice.. just fair dice with comparable resources a majority of the time, I'd be in Diamond. Mechanically the game is fun, but seeing people with lower game sense repeatedly win because they just keep being gifted resources is quite frustrating. And I'm sure there's going to be someone commenting here with some nonsense about how this distribution still mimics a bell curve and that it's all in my head and bias and blah blah blah. You can say that. I just don't believe I can be at a disadvantage that frequently.

Update after a big losing streak

Went a little cold with the dice and some questionable play by some peeps but here we are at 37% win rate.

New (horrible) mode i thought of.

So since they implemented the chaos speed mode, I guess anything is on the table.

I almost exclusively play 1vs1 ranked and was thinking tonight while playing:

A 1vs1 mode where your first settlement is pre placed and you only get to pick your second settlement.

Why not, eh?
