I got a piece of mail from HOWARD COUNTY, MD with the address 60 W ST SUITE 106 ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401. It's odd because I know that is the parking office in Annapolis. I haven't parked in Annapolis in maybe 5-7 years.

Anyone else receive something like this? If so, what's it all about?

I’ve been going to the same salon in Columbia for a while (3 years) but the last two cuts have left me feeling meh. Looking for any places in Howard county that are smaller in size - I love supporting local - and who have perfected the wolf cut for wavy haired girlies. Any suggestions?

Can anyone recommend any local places to take a parent/child cooking class to take? My 8 year old daughter has expressed an interest in taking one with me.

Or are they planning to proceed? Nothing on the Columbia Lakefront web page. Is there a better official (and timely) source?

At approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning in Hickory Ridge, a man (Caucasian, approximately in his 50s who was barefoot) and I (I'm a woman of color in my mid-30s) had a frightening encounter while walking our dogs. I had one medium size dog and he had a small dog and a larger dog. He made a rude comment to me, and I told him he was an a-hole before continuing to walk away.

I got around ten feet away from him before he turned around and started following me. He said, "You shouldn't be rude to strangers because people are crazy. You don't know who you're messing with, and you don't know what I'm capable of." He then bent down and picked up a glass mug that was lying by a bush in the grass (it's been there for a min so I knew it wasn't his) and started walking toward me with it cupped in his hand. I believed he was about to hit me with it, so I yelled for help. I specifically yelled "This man is following me, help!" as I was backing up while he continued to move towards me with the cup in his hand.

An Amazon Flex driver (DR are his initials) stopped, got between us, and stayed with me while I called the police. Another woman also stopped to help. The man left with his dogs before the police arrived since more people were stopping to help.

I called Amazon Flex/Amazon and emailed them to recognize DR's actions because he put himself between me and someone I believed was about to hurt me and my dog. He had no way of knowing what that man was capable of, and I'm incredibly grateful he stopped. I'm trying to figure out another nice thing I can do for DR too because he was so kind and helpful and deserves some type of recognition for being a good Samaritan.

I'm posting this as a heads-up for anyone walking in the area. Please stay aware of your surroundings. The incident has already been reported to the police. I was able to record most of the incident showing his face clearly so the police are aware of him. I'm sharing this so other people know to stay safe in the area.

hiiii! it feels hard making/meeting people at this age since everyone is busy with their own thing, so here i am making this post haha

im a pretty outgoing person, i love horror and just doing anything outdoorsy but there are also days where i like to just stay in, chill, cook and game! i am a bit shy at first but once i get comfortable im a chatter box haha.

My mother is pushing 80 and not all that mobile, but would really like to see fireworks this year. Where I used to live there were a couple of places where you could drive up and sit in your car and watch them, or sit in your car right until they start and then watch them. Is there anywhere like that around here? I know the lakefront is generally impossible, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone know why the AMC closed this evening? My wife and I were planning on seeing Supergirl, but got an automated email canceling our tickets and saying something about building maintenance.

Any good bakeries in Howard County that make a great baguette or good sourdough based loaf? Not grocery store bakeries, but a real, stand-alone maker of breads.

I volunteer with DAR&E and I’ve been fostering a 1 yr old Doberman named Sebastian. Tomorrow is his birthday, and honestly I’m feeling a little emotional about it because he hasn’t had a single adoption inquiry yet!

He is genuinely one of the easiest dogs I’ve ever worked with:

• great with kids, people, and other dogs
• crate trained
• walks beautifully on a leash
• sweet, social, and very people-oriented
• just wants to be near you and included

I can’t figure out why he’s being overlooked, and I’m hoping maybe the right person just hasn’t seen him yet.

To help him get a little visibility, I’m setting up a small awareness table tonight at Texas Roadhouse in Columbia from 6–8pm for his birthday. If you’re local and want to meet him, please feel free to stop by and say hi.

There will also be a small fundraiser running 3–10pm where showing this flyer at your table helps support DAR&E and the dogs in our care (and yes, a portion goes toward birthday treats for Sebastian too 🎉).

If you can’t come out, even just sharing him would mean a lot. He’s really a good boyI just want someone to finally see him.
