How do you play combat patrol?

Hi! I'm kinda new here, i was trying to find how to play Combat patrol since it looks easier (and cheaper) that playing with an army, but i don't seem able to find consistent rules, WH comunity does not have the rules, and while the WH40k app does have some rules but i can't find combat patrols that follow the same set of rules (+ i don't want to buy a combat patrol box without knowing if i will be able to play with it)

I know that Warhammer is changing it's rules, so maybe someone can at least send a link to older rules?

Thank you very much

Old OS that won’t take the update. Unintentional gold mine

Replaced my old phone and the old OS isn’t compatible with the 11th update. So I’ve still got access to the 9th and 10th patrols

Painted my first army + imotekh

Just picked up my first combat patrol a couple weeks ago and finally got it painted in a sautekh theme.
First time I’ve ever painted models so definitely room for improvement but overall, I feel I did pretty good.

Homebrew 11th Edition Converted CP

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qG-xwEZgHBFc3Vxx1wzVOTQ9XTP5moKn

So what I did was convert the official 11th edition cp to pdf to compare with their 10th version. I updated the army rules took the existing strategies and one of the engagements add another enhancement and converted some of the old rules took the detachment rules the hope was to get a decent baseline and when new recruit gets the 11th files I should be able to stay up to date with changes of the data cards so the cp don’t get too outdated fir balancing I did notice GW too some of the really strong units and gated them by putting them in reserve so did a few that way but a bit too many really needed it. Obviously I have a bias as to try to make the units match current rules I like not having to relearn units or game flow I’m bigger games but might revisit the detachment to limit or expand rules to rebalance I play mostly cp and use them as excuses for painting project do built them in 10th to allow me to play them sooner and like others I got the magazine so still doing that hope this help keep everyone painting and maybe not drop that cp dream

The current state of 11th Edition Combat Patrol?

Is anyone able to give a coherent description of how to play Combat Patrol at the moment?

What advice should people new to the game be given? Is it that we ignore what GW are doing until 11th Edition settles down and just play with the 10th Edition rules?

Or is it possible to work out how to play Combat Patrol from what GW has published so far?

Has anyone published a blog post or video explaining what they are doing?

Where should a new player start?

So I’ve been collecting minis for a while and slowly building and painting, and a few colleagues at work have done the same. I’m going to have some time over summer to actually get to learn the game for us to get playing in September, my question is, where on earth does a new player start right now?

Is combat patrol the right place or do we go with the core rules and just a 500p limit?

I don’t really feel like the combat patrol companion is what I’m looking for as I’m clued up on the lore etc, i more want something to learn the rules.

Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

I think they took the Combat Patrol Starter set off the website

Curious if anyone else saw this, but the combat patrol starter set (previously called the ultimate starter set) is not appearing for me on warhammer shop anymore. Which is wild because I think that's the only way to get the current legal tyranid combat patrol.

What’s our consensus on the Combat Patrols that have seemingly been axed?

I was in the middle of painting two patrols that were cut from the app and was wondering if I should cut my losses and start working on the new ones we definitely know will be supported.

Is playing in the new edition even possible yet? I know there are some issues like missing missions. If not then I would just rather keep working on the old ones and play the old edition.

Anyways, what’s our best guess from all we’ve seen and heard? Do we think they will definitely not be supported? Or are the other issues signs that there is a potential update?

Is this not virtually useless?

Was looking at the combat patrol rules in the app, with all models having 1 wound how can this enhancement ever be used?

Edit: Did not know about the new healing rules in 11th edition. Thanks guys!

Potential new player

I'm an AoS player that mainly likes to play Spearhead with my brother and/or friends, but am interested in exploring the 40K side of GW's game systems as well.

From what I've read online and saw on Youtube, Combat Patrol is the most equivalent game mode of Spearhead in terms of size, so I would like to start there.

How good/interesting are the Necrons to play in this mode and what other Combat Patrols have fun interaction with them? I'd like to potentially get Necrons since they're my absolute favorite looking army from 40K, but also another box for my brother and friends to play with.

Anyone else email GW Faq about missions?

I've emailed their faq support about where to find missions for Combat Patrol since they aren't in the app and chapter approved missions do not have central objectives. They told me that missions are in the companion book. I've confirmed that they aren't and replied to them. They haven't responded. I'm curious if anyone else has emailed them and what the response was.

Does anyone still have the Warpsmith’s Gauntlet Combat Patrol rules?

Hi everyone!
I recently bought the new Iron Warriors Combat Patrol because I really wanted to play it using the official Combat Patrol rules.
Unfortunately, by the time I got it, the Warpsmith’s Gauntlet rules had already disappeared from the Warhammer 40,000 app, and I can’t find them anywhere on Warhammer Community either.
I’m not looking for pirated content. I already own the Combat Patrol box and just want to play it as it was originally intended.
Does anyone happen to have screenshots, a backup, or know of an official way to access the Combat Patrol datasheets, stratagems, enhancements, and mission rules?
I’d really appreciate any help.
I’d love to experience this Combat Patrol as it was designed, so any information would mean a lot to me.

Iron Within, Iron Without!

P.S. English isn’t my first language, so I used ChatGPT to help translate this post. I hope everything makes sense! 😄

DG Combat Patrol price/availability?

Was looking around for this one, and it seems not easy to find it below that $170 USD retail.

In fact, most of the ones on eBay are over $200.

Any reason for this? Should I just jump on it for $170?

For those with a subscription in the US

I just got this month’s delivery, what should have been issues 63-66. Though instead of getting issue 66 I got two copies of 65. Anyone have this issue?

Aggresive review - armageddon Space Marines

Assembled space marines.

Overall they glue together really nicely, but seriously, what kind of psychopath puts the mold line/joint right in the middle of the fucking shoulder pad? Same with the speeder — it's got that damn little display screen, a shitload of buttons and various monitors, so good luck getting in there with a brush. And you can't even do it as a sub-assembly because the screen itself goes in as like 4th or 5th step...

So yeah, fucking great.

Plus the seams on the sides are annoying as hell. There's also that smoke-effect flight stand, for fuck's sake. Mine hasn't snapped yet, but it's getting close. It has a hole for standard flight stands, but why didn't they include an actual flight stand in the box.

But honestly, the worst things to assemble were those fucking Gravis guys. The bastards are split front-to-back, but as if that wasn't enough, they made the back in two separate pieces, creating a gap running the entire height of the fuckers.

Other than that though, I'm really happy with the models, can't wait to paint them🙂

Battleline keyword in 11th edition combat patrol

Does the Battleline keyword still allow you to sticky objectives in 11th edition Combat Patrol? I can find no mention of it in the app rules or anywhere else. They did bring in some unique datasheet abilities and stratagems (depending on faction) that sticky objectives.

Anyone have any idea? No mention of it means it doesn't sticky anymore? Wondering if anyone has read something I haven't.

Do we need to try and make some "Community Patrol" sheets?

Given the approach by James to Combat Patrol generally, is there enough interest from the community to make/tweak/re-jig the existing combat patrols that have been removed from the app?

There will be plenty of people who are only part way through collecting the 9th edition Combat Patrols courtesy of the Hachette magazine, and the rules for these needed a bit of massaging to work in 10th, let alone in 11th. This is especially obvious for any sets that had a change of army rule between 9th and 10th edition (Leagues of Votann anyone?)

Making them self-contained but otherwise as balanced as possible within Combat Patrol (given the difference in points cost for the main game) would be the ultimate goal. I'm definitely not equipped to do this (no idea about game design/balance) but would love it if someone else took the idea on and ran with it.
