I made a Warhammer 40K name generator covering loads of factions

I’ve been messing around with a little Warhammer 40K name generator and finally got it to a point where it feels pretty decent.

It covers a load of factions and styles, lets you pick male/female/any, and you can optionally add faction-style titles and affiliations like chapters, dynasties, septs, regiments, houses, etc.

It’s not using fixed character names, so it should be more useful for naming homebrew characters, crusade forces, RPG characters, kitbashes, custom warbands and that sort of thing.

Totally unofficial and just made for hobby inspiration.

Here it is if anyone wants to try it:

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially if any faction feels off or needs better name styles.

Combat patrol nomad checking in

I’ve been doing the combat patrol magazine and wanted to go for a word bearers theme for my chaos. It went a bit wrong when my brass was a bit too gold rather than the traditional steel but I ploughed on regardless.

EitI have been humbled by the trim but had a good time. They can go scrap some ultramarines in the name of Lorgar and the chaos gods.

Haarken showed up so he got a word bearers makeover but I let him keep a nightlord arm out of respect, then it seemed like he needed some raptors to lead so I did that too.

All in all I’m happy how they turned out.

Hobby from bed

Since dying last year (I got over it), I’ve been unable to stand or walk. Spending 70 in the hospital really took its toll. To keep myself occupied, I’ve started slowly doing hobby stuff again. It’s just a bedside table, lamp, and tools. It’s small, but it’s mine.

Right now I am finishing up converting all my GW paint into dropper bottles. Three magazine subscriptions (Imperium, Stormbringer, and Combat Patrol) has left me with a lot of GW paints, so I wanted to decant them into dropper bottles before any went dry on me. These are the last 5 left to go and I’ll be done. After that, I’ll start painting, hopefully soon.

Thanks for looking.

Combat Patrol Balance

I'm new to playing 40K and don't have any friends that play. I had the idea that I wanted to collect several combat patrols, so that if a friend came over I could get them to play without any investment on their part. I just want to know if there is some semblance of balance between them on average. Is the average fairly close for a couple of noobs to have an enjoyable game with some outliers here and there, or is it pretty much the norm for things to be predetermined by patrol pick? I know the datasheets for Combat Patrol are adjusted with the game mode in mind to adjust for varying amount of points per box, but curious if there's actually a meaningful impact on balance in the general opinion of the group. Thanks in advance!

I got invited to play my first game. Help me learn to play.

I'm a long-time admirer of the game, and I've painted some stuff here and there. I've been invited to play with a new friend and their group. They play on Saturdays, usually combat patrol. What video do I watch, what book do I read, what article do I look up to help me learn to play this game as quickly and efficiently as possible. Do I need to know all the rules to the base game as well as the combat patrol rules? If so, please direct me to the same media that will assist in that as well.

I've got a fully painted Tyranid combat patrol (the one that came in the starter box), and I've got the warriors painted out of a Necron combat patrol. I've got everything but the librarian for the space marine combat patrol. All unpainted on those. Which of these three is best to start with?

Combat Patrol Intro set?

Recently saw the 10th ultimate set being converted to Combat Patrol Starter Set for 11th. Curious to think if this box may last far past when the new edition drops.

Help by balancing armies

Hello everyone and thank you very much, and apologies in advance for this request I am making. I am a new 40k player, with only a few combat patrol games with friends. Thanks to the basic rules and some videos, we were able to understand the game quite well. I’ll give you some context. Not long ago, I bought the Leviathan box, since it included the Ultramarines and Tyranids combat patrols, plus some units that I really liked. Since we enjoyed the game, I decided to add the Necrons and Orkz combat patrols. My intention is to bring the 4 combat patrols to have a closer 40k experience. Doing a bit of research, balancing the Leviathan box was quite straightforward; everyone recommended adding 6 zoanthropes to counter the Marine armors. Doing this brought it roughly to the 1000 point mark. The thing is, I would like to add units to the Orkz and Necrons combat patrols to reach 1000 points while always maintaining balance, which is why I require your a ...

The thing is that I would like to add units to the Orkz and Necron combat patrols to reach 1000 points, but always keeping the balance in mind, which is why I need your help.

Searching on the internet, you find many posts and videos, but they talk more about the meta, about competitive play, and that wouldn't help me, because that is not my intention. I want the four lists to be balanced for playing in a closed environment and to be fun, not for one to be more broken than the other.

Since I don't have a nearby store, my idea—or bad idea xD—was to ask the AI. And it gave me these lists.

What do you think? Do you agree, would you change anything? Any comment is very welcome. Without further ado, I leave you the list. Thank you very much, and greetings to everyone.

Has anyone made STL files for the terrain cards included in the magazine?

Like, instead of a flat card has anyone made printable 3d versions of what's displayed on the card? I think that'd be pretty cool if so.
