Healer damage in m+

I'm starting to push into the 19/20 m+ key range, and i'm still figuring out when and where my damage windows are. Since i haven't pushed at this level before, i find myself playing very defensively, saving cooldowns for emergencies, rather than playing more proactively/offensively. Specifically, i will save cooldowns like wings and Divine Toll, and i also more than often sit on at least 3 holy power (instead of just sending them on SotR) in order to have more throughput when damage events occur.

I know for a fact i could be doing more damage than i am now, so one clear goal is just to keep learning and getting more knowledgable and be better at optiziming it.

But it made me curious: what kind of overall dps is required/expected/normal from a healer at these key levels? I think i average around 20k dps overall, which i find extremely low.

How big of an impact on the timer can i realistically have by optimizing damage windows?

I play a Herald of the Sun holy paladin, with an ilvl of ~286.

Example: went over time by 1 minute in a PoS 20+ the other day. The group suffered 3 deaths total (from avoidable damage). Obviously the deaths were detrimental to our timer and without them we could probably have timed the key, but i couldn't stop thinking afterwards: could we have timed this, had i just dealt a bit more damage on every pull?

Any reason to save bonus rolls for 12.0.7

My mage is 288 with a mix of crafted gear and fully upgrade mythics. Any M+ drops are side grades for all intents and purposes. So I really don't have any upgrades anymore and can either save the bonus rolls or use them for transmogs (i.e. sword instead of a staff). Do you think it would be useful to horde these until 12.0.7? There is the new raid but we'll get bonus rolls every week for that and you can only run a mythic oncesa week.

puggers.gg - Form M+ groups before you log in (Works for both US and EU)

TL;DR: Made puggers.gg — post and apply to M+ keys without logging in, leaders see applicant history and your private favourites/blacklists, no public ratings ever. Feedback welcome.

https://preview.redd.it/5olj9rn6zb2h1.png?width=762&format=png&auto=webp&s=4586b6511805dbee157697f8de2afb192d88c089

Hey gamers, I've been loving the M+ content this season, but I think many of you can relate, the process of finding a group can take forever, especially as a DPS. So you just afk in Silvermoon for hours wasting your active consumes, and end up logging off without doing any runs.

Premade group finder is an amazing addon that alleviates a lot of the issues of the in-game group finder. But I think there are still gaps that need filling; like can’t be playing on an alt while you queue, or finding a group ahead of time when you know you’ll be ready to game at 9pm Thursday night.

So while afking in queue, I decided to create something that can solve the issues I've been experiencing – puggers.gg

You sign in with Discord, link Batttle.net, and your characters auto-sync with RaiderIO scores. You can browse keys for tonight before you even log in, apply on whichever character you want without having to swap. When you're the leader, at a glance see the applicant's character and highest achieved IO, links to their RaiderIO and WCL profile, whether you've favourited them before (applicants blacklisted by you would be auto-declined), and any notes you've left about them in past runs.

You can favourite people you'd run with again, and privately blacklist the ones you wouldn't. Blacklist is visible only to you, nobody's getting a "you've been blacklisted" notification or anything. You can only favourite or blacklist a member after a run is confirmed completed via RaiderIO. And no public ratings, pretty sure those just turn into harassment and trolling over time.

Obviously, this tool is ineffective until more people start using it. And honestly, I might be just salty because I had to afk in queue a whole night the other day, and this tool is unnecessary. Which is why I wanted to get some feedback from the community before I spend more time on this.

Please check it out and let me know what you think. Drop bugs and feedback in the Discord (discord.gg/xDYQCsRPjK) or just reply here.

Thanks!

Issue with trade restrictions with mythic+ gear

Hi,

yesterday we finished a +10 key intime. I got a ring I dont need and wanted to trade it with one of the group members. Since all of my gear is atleast hero track or hero crafted at minimum, I expected it do be no issue.
But I could not trade the ring.

For more context:
280 iLvl
Rings I geared:
1 Hero Track 6/6 Ring - 276 - Occlusion of Void
1 Myth Track 1/6 Ring - 272 - Omission of Light

Ring I dropped:
1 Hero Track 3/6 Ring - 266

So we thought it could be an issue with the dropped ring being potentially better than the myth 1/6 if its on 6/6 even tho I didnt know/think that system works like that.

So I tried to research but you can find a different opinion on every google search / thread, whatever.

Google AI said the system works different from Rings to single slot gear and in single slot it would be no problem with myth track 1/6, but rings has to be atleast 2/6 on myth.

Is that really the case, or in general is there any good and understanding overview on how trade restrictions work officially?

Would be good to know, thanks for the help.

Edit:
One last addition I just figured out: i had loot specialization on feral instead of balance, I guess to help out gearing the rogue in the group with gear.
So I can imagine my two rings are not in the lootpool for feral loot so the dropped one was the first in the pool, might that be the answer?

Tank tips for pushing higher keys

Hi all,

Just saw a post of an assassination rouge (pushing resi 21) giving general tips for players who push 15+.

I was wondering if we can have something similar for tanks? I am one 18 shy of resi 18 (seat 😞) and was wondering if there are some tips tanks in higher keys want to share?

Any tip is welcome!

For me personally, i feel that i sometimes have trouble having aggro on all mobs while I still pull the pack (nexus and AA first pull for example), and not only that dps take aggro, but healers that pre hot me or something take aggro. But in general, if a pull gets chaotic, i have to use a barrel or something to try and get aggro from a distant enemy (I am brew btw).

Warlock Imps MT Gate Skip

So I was just doing a 17 MT and I dismissed my felguard and then gate skipped the last 2 mobs. Everyone else took my gate with no issues. Somehow I got brought into combat as I was resuming my felguard and I ran to the mobs to die but it caused a wipe as they went all the way up to the top where final boss is. I also don’t know if my hunter dismissed his pet or feigned death and it aggro’d to me. Imps are suppose to take your portal with you.

Can this happen where they bug and don’t take gate and pull those last 2 mobs.

EDIT: I just looked at the logs under threat. My wild imps from hand of guldan pulled the last 2 devouring tyrants when I took my gate at 27:32. Then devouring tyrant swings at me at 27:48 and I die. Then the group dies lol. So seems like imps can still pull mobs even if taking gate.

Hot take: spec/class based mythic+ cutoffs

The current Mythic+ system rewards whatever "God Comp" dominates the season, completely choking out off-meta specs from the top 0.1% and 1% rewards. If you want the end-of-season title, you practically have to meta-chase. What if Blizzard shifted the regional cutoffs to be per-spec or per-class? It would reward the absolute best players of every class/spec.

However, this would also come with possible major flaws in the system:
• The Boosting Dilemma: A meta-comp group could easily carry a D-tier spec to a top 0.1% title since that spec's cutoff would be drastically lower.
• Score Disparity: Is it fair for an off-meta spec to get the same title at 3,500 score that a meta spec needs 3,900 score to achieve?

What do you think? Could this be implemented in a reasonable way?

M+ Healer Bonus Roll Calculator

I put together a free web tool that tells you which M+ dungeon gives you the highest expected HPS gain per Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll, for every healer spec.

Tool: https://www.healermech.com/

It is inspired by the bonus roll sheet from the Shaman class discord. Shout out to the folks who built that!

I wanted something that worked for every healer class out of the box, kept track of what I had already rolled, and updated as I picked up gear, so I built this on top of the QE Live upgrade finder workflow.

How to use it

  1. Generate an upgrade report at https://questionablyepic.com/live
  2. Paste the report URL into the tool
  3. Dungeons get ranked by Expected Value (EV)

EV is the average HPS% gain you would get per bonus roll in that dungeon's loot pool.

Formula:

EV = sum(HPS gain of each upgrade in the pool) / total items in the pool

So a dungeon with 4 strong upgrades out of 6 remaining items will rank above one with 4 strong upgrades out of 9.

What it does beyond a static sheet

Rolled / Vaulted tracking

Click an item to mark it. Rolled items are removed from the pool entirely, which improves your odds on the remaining items. Vaulted items (as in you took it from the Great Vault) stay in the pool but count as dead weight you cannot get value from. This is saved per character in localStorage.

Catalyst-aware

If an armor piece would be better as its tier set version through the Catalyst, the tool automatically uses the catalyzed HPS value and tags it.

Cross-spec check

Some dungeons have smaller loot pools for an off-spec of your class. The tool checks whether rolling as something like Enhancement on your Resto Shaman would give better EV, and tells you when it does.

Equipped item comparison

Hover any item icon to see a side-by-side comparison with what you currently have equipped in that slot, including the ilvl delta.

Myth track auto-detection

Items you already have at Myth track are filtered out of the pool.

Quality of life

Search and filter across all dungeons, save characters and switch between them with one click, and toggle light/dark theme.

Happy rolling, and let me know if anything looks off for your spec. Should be easy to fix.

You can get more than 285 on a fresh level 80 this week without Myth of the Dawn

edit: Level 90 of course not 80

Obviously provided you have an enormous amount of time to play at least 80 +10 keys on a cloth char (will probably work on any character that uses 2hd weapon). You also need to farm a ton of Hero crests of course.

This is just something I was wondering while riding the bench and I doubt this will ever be done (especially since those that would entertain the idea already have the Myth of the Dawn Achievment)

We currently have 950 crests and 12 sparks. In addition we of course have the Ascendant voidcores.

So how would you do it.

Get every item on 266 from M+ and upgrade them to 276. 15 items times 60 crests is 900. You can skip some of that with the bonus rolled items.

Upgrade both trinkets and your weapon with Ascendant Voidcores to 285.

Use 7 bonus rolls in Nexus Point. You now have Myth track items in the following slots:

  • Weapon
  • Shoulder
  • Cloak
  • Hands
  • Legs
  • Ring1+2

Upgrade the weapon to 298 (20 Crests) and the other 6 items to 289 (80 Crests*6 = 480).

For those that have crept track we now have

  • 6 Items Ilvl 276
  • 6 Items Ilvl 289
  • 2 Items Ilvl 285
  • 1 Item Ilvl 298

Since the last is a 2hd Weapon and we end up with an average ilvl of 284.75 and still having 450 crests left.

Now we can either use our last bonus roll or start crafting. Since the bonus roll is not guaranteed to give an upgrade imma just use crafting.

We can still craft 5 items with our remaining crests which only leaves us with a single 276 item.

All in all that means a total Ilvl of 287.56 is possible from a fresh character without any raiding. Which is honestly ridiculous.

If I have some kind of logic error in there please let me know because it seems kinda unreal to me that this could be possible.

Anyone else feel like doing 3-4 echo knights in AA PUGs at the 19-20 range is a bait?

I've had a shit ton of groups brick the key here completely unnecessarily.

Doing 3-4 knights there requires a lot of group coordination with interrupts on invokers and also staggering defensives, so you don't get giga nuked by 3 smashes in a row.

The vast majority of groups can't coordinate well enough to survive 3+ knights, and also burn one fast enough, and people end up dying to one of smashes sooner or later, which loses more time than you save.

Most fun m+ class

My main is MW, right now I have resil 19 with my team, the thing is that I have a lot of time and we dont play so much as a team. I hate pugging as a healer, seeing people pressing bad defensives and dying to air makes me crazy. So my question is simple what is in your opinion the most fun class if you dont have to have the meta in mind.

Maisara Caverns Pug Route

Tanks, need some help with maisara routing, please - I'm trying to go for 3.4k, so this needs to work on +16 and Pugs.

I was running this first route, but I runned into 2 problems with it:

https://keystone.guru/route/maisara-caverns/24GobxT/risky-route/2

  1. (Pull 7) Pulling the Hex Mask - some groups struggle with the spread magic damage

  2. (Pull 7) If I don't pull it to the back, the mammoth gets butt pulled and chaos ensues. So it takes a little longer to set up to the back, but then gets safe

  3. (Pull 12) It's a 8 Grim Skirmisher pull, and the AOE on death ends up killing at least 1-2 DPS - have you experienced the same, is it a good pull or is it better avoided?

Now I'm thinking to run my easier, but trickier route bellow, my issues being:

https://keystone.guru/route/maisara-caverns/P9KRtMP/pug-route-friendly/2

  1. (Pull 12): in order to avoid the Bound Defender and it's tornados that really slows down the pace, the group have to hug the wall and someone needs to kick the 2nd (maybe 3rd) cast of the Hollow Soulrender so we can do it on the bridge. Have you guys had success doing the pull like this?

  2. (Pull 16) after 2rd boss, the room to the right seems like a chill pull, but rarely someone doing it, is there something catchy here?

I'm also afraid that it's too many pulls - should I be able to merge 1 + 2 pull? I'm playing prot war, 286 atm of this post.

Also, feel free to post alternatives routes better for Pugs at this key range.

Thanks in advance.

Be careful, Bonus Rolls broken once again... Indie Company at work

Bonus Rolls are broken. I just got a Item I already got last week from a Bonus Roll. This is not fair as I only missed one Item from this dungeon at the end of last week... Now I have the stupid Void Ring from NPX twice from Bonus Rolls while still missing the Caster Staff...

Update: Got a response for my ticket and I'm sure they're messing with me. Got a "not looted items will be delivered via mail" response with the hint I could reopen the ticket... Spoiler, their Reopen button for tickets does just work as their loot system this addon. Not at all.

The Prot Pal buffs feel really good. Kudos Blizz.

It feels like they actually had a good grasp on where we were struggling. I only pug, I’ve got 1 key left for resil 18 and I was sweating through every key before Tuesday.

Ardent feels like a meaningful button now. Before I felt like i could only trust it if my guardian cheat wasn’t on cooldown. The extended duration is also huge since some tank busters have a bleed/dot effect.

Blessing of dusk feels like it gives me some ability to save cd’s and rely a bit on armaments/WOG towards the end of pulls now. Before it felt like i had to kite, blow another cd, or die.

Sentinel is a no brainer. On lust pulls i can basically survive with just that now and it leaves me with a lot of options for the next pull rather than feeling cd starved and scared for my life. The duration also lets you double dip for frequent busters like 3rd boss Skyreach.

Overall it feels like i can use my utility a lot better now - LOH can go to a teammate, i can sac on cd much more comfortable. Toss the extra wog to a dps. Feels much more like how i want to play the tank.

Our dps is still bullocks compared to the meta tanks so i’ll hold out hope that they just combine crit wings and sentinel one day.
